THE MAXIMUM SOLUTIONS FAMILY GROWS!

The story of how Pamela Peet and Karen Chabak became managers of their own physical therapy clinic started many years ago. Pam and Karen worked together at an outpatient facility in 1997. Pam happened to start her career as a physical therapist at the same facility where Karen was a staff therapist. They quickly developed a great friendship and realized they approached the physical therapy profession and treatment of clients in a similar way.

of the partnership. Once it was settled as to the location, Pam and Karen, with help from their husbands, set to painting and updating the space in the new Lords Valley office. They put in many hours repainting the entire office, putting down new carpet, and updating the bathroom. Once the upgrades were completed and equipment purchased, the third office of Maximum Solutions was ready to open for business on Oct. 12, 2020.

Over the years, Pam and Karen worked at different outpatient locations but worked at the same facility three separate times! As the years passed, with working together and separately, they often discussed the idea of having their own physical therapy facility. With the onset of COVID-19 — and Pam and Karen being furloughed from their positions — they had time to sit down and have serious discussions about opening their own clinic. The two knew what they wanted; they just had to find the right partners. So, while researching companies and job opportunities, Pam met with Cara and Dora about a PT position in the East Stroudsburg office. The available position was only for part time, but Pam was looking for full time. Knowing that wouldn’t work but instantly liking Cara and Dora, Pam asked if they had thought about opening a third clinic. They were very interested in that idea and decided to talk about it further. Pam got in touch

Pam and Karen have over 50 years of PT experience between them, and they bring many therapeutic skills to the Lords Valley office. They both treat various orthopedic issues involving, but not limited to, total joint replacements, neck and back problems, sprains and strains of all joints, hand issues, and arthritis of all joints. They also have the expertise to address neurological problems including gait and balance deficits, strokes, neuropathy, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease. Pam also has training in treatment of upper extremity lymphedema, and Karen is trained in the treatment of concussion, vertigo, and vestibular dysfunction. So, if you are near Lords Valley, please stop in to say hello to Pam and Karen and tour the newest Maximum Solutions physical therapy office. We’re looking forward to seeing where this new chapter of Maximum Solutions takes us in the months and years to come.

with Karen as soon as the meeting was over and told her the news — there was a good possibility of a great partnership.

Over the summer and into early fall of 2020, the four ladies had several discussions regarding the exact location of the third Maximum Solutions clinic, not to mention the numerous details

As people grow older, they’re more likely to find themselves at home with less company. If your family members live far away or you have physical limitations that make it difficult to leave the house, you may be at an increased risk of experiencing loneliness. This is why adopting an animal can be so helpful. Pets offer comfort and love, and many encourage physical activity. Integrating a pet into your life as you grow older can be just what you need to lift your spirit and keep you healthy. The Benefits of Pet Ownership A lack of purpose can take a significant toll, but the sense of duty pet owners have around caring for their animals helps them avoid this. The daily tasks of feeding, playing with, and walking your animal can help provide structure and bring meaning to your life. They also give you something to look forward to each day. What’s better than waking up or coming home to a wagging tail or loud meow? This is how pets help improve their owners’ mental and physical health. Studies also show that those who care for pets have less stress and lower blood pressure and cholesterol than their petless counterparts. You’re also more likely to maintain a daily exercise routine. FELINE FRIENDS OR CANINE COMRADES HOW PETS IMPROVE OUR HEALTH AND HAPPINESS

Humans have an innate need to be social, and without someone to talk to regularly, our mental well-being can start to deteriorate. Pets may not be the best conversation partners, but they may increase your social activity. Walking a dog to a local park every day, for example, can provide an opportunity for you to interact with other people. If you live alone, this simple activity can increase your social circle and improve your mental health. Find the Right Pet Before taking advantage of the many benefits pets offer, it’s crucial to consider which pet is right for you. Doing research can help answer important questions about which animals might be a good fit for you and your lifestyle and which aren’t. Finding a perfect match may take some time, but once that connection is made, there is nothing that will bring more joy into both of your lives. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a list of questions that will help guide you to the perfect pet. Take a look at CDC.gov/healthypets .

DON’T SLEEP ON THESE TRACKING DEVICES WANT A BETTER NIGHT’S REST?

Sleep is essential for good health. It recharges your body and helps you start your day refreshed and alert. With so many wearable devices and sleep tracking apps on the market now, you may be wondering if you should be tracking your sleep. If any of the following apply to you, you may benefit from using a sleep tracker. • You have difficulty sleeping soundly.
