Agents For Life

DAVID AND IRMA BENNETT Meet Your Agents for Life

MEDICARE PLANS FOR HAWAII

Aloha! Welcome to our newsletter! We’re David and Irma Bennett, and we’re your Medicare insurance Agents for Life. We love what we do because we get to meet so many different people and learn about our clients’ stories and families. David has a history as an entrepreneur, but it was Irma who was first licensed as a Medicare agent and saw the potential for us to work together side-by-side, learn from one another, and effectively serve our local community. Together we’ve helped thousands of people. By simplifying what can feel like a very complicated process: finding the right Medicare plan for you. As we like to say, there is no one best plan, but there is a best plan for you and your personal situation. “At the end of the day, the most important thing is to do what’s right for our clients.”

We also love what we do because we get to do it while living in the most beautiful place on Earth! Prior to moving to Hawaii, we were living and raising our five kids in San Diego, California. As they flew the nest one by one, we decided to pursue a longtime dream of coming to the islands, and we’ve never looked back. Honolulu has been like dating all over again; we love going on walks together at the park on Magic Island and then enjoying dinner at a local restaurant. Irma is lucky to have her longtime best friend in town, and one of her favorite activities is chatting with her over coffee or shopping together. You can also frequently find us at the beach. David loves to surf, and when our grandkids come to visit (we have 13!), it’s always fun to catch some waves and give them a lesson. If they have a bad wipeout, they can always join Irma on the sand and take in the warm sun or just go for a nice swim or snorkel. With non-stop grandkids,

already on with their employer. We tell them that, and for us, that’s a win!

its always a race to see who will need a nap first — them, or us!

Why? Because we’re here to take care of you, and we think of you like family. And as family, you can call us anytime. We’re happy to answer your questions and help you navigate changes when life changes. When we say we’re your Agents for Life, we mean it! We’ve put this newsletter together especially for you, so please enjoy it and let us know what you think!

We really do enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Good food, good company, and a nice day on the beach go a long way. We bring those values to our business, too. David likes to say we have an old-school approach to our business. At the end of the day, the most important thing is to do what’s right for our clients. Sometimes a client who has turned 65 but is still working will call to ask about getting on Medicare, and we’ll find that the best plan for them is the one they’re

One at a Time A SIMPLE WAY TO TURN NEGATIVE THOUGHTS INTO POSITIVE ONES

Did you know you can only think one thought at a time? Thousands of thoughts arise in the mind each day, but at any given moment, you can only think one thing. And research has shown that those thoughts have consequences for our physical and mental health. Positive thinking keeps us healthy and helps us live longer, happier lives. Negative thinking, however, can lead to health issues and even decrease our life span. After years of working hard, raising a family, and dealing with whatever has come your way, you deserve to enjoy this season of your life. If that’s been difficult to do lately, the

good news is your brain is adaptable, and you can even use a simple strategy to bring more positive thoughts to mind. If you find yourself thinking a negative thought, simply replace it with a more positive one. That’s it! Since you can only think one thought at a time, this helps shift your mood and build the habit of positive thinking. And it’s not as hard as you might imagine. For example, if you miss connecting with your extended family, instead of thinking, “It’s terrible we haven’t been able to get together lately,” replace that thought with, “I’m

grateful technology allows me to see my family on video calls.” Another trick is to call a favorite memory to mind! So, what do you think? Use this simple technique to bring more positivity into your life today.

GET YOUR TRAIN OF THOUGHT BACK ON TRACK

RECOVERY HACKS

Have you ever been in the middle of a conversation, presentation, or debate, stringing together thoughts in a way you hope is coherent and insightful when — poof! — you lose your train of thought? It’s frustrating. You just want to make yourself understood, but your brain has other plans. What if there were a way to keep your train of thought on track? Well, the good news is that recovering your train of thought is easy with the following hacks in mind. Repeat, repeat, repeat yourself. Paraphrasing your last few thoughts out loud can help you remember where you were going. Think of it as retracing your steps: You go back to the last words

you remember saying, and more often than not, you’ll find your direction again. Take a short pause. Pausing briefly is a great way to make recovering your train of thought seem natural. This hack works really well if you’re answering a question and you need time to think, and you also don’t want to be bogged down by a chorus of “ums” escaping from your mouth. Write it all down. This hack works well when you know beforehand that you’ll be speaking with someone or in front of people. Even if you never refer to your notes while speaking,

simply writing down a road map for your train of thought can help you recover from a detour and speak more confidently. Remember your overall point. The easiest way to drive your train of thought into the weeds is to forget your overall point — or not to have an overriding point at all. Always have a short, overarching point you can use to recenter yourself and get back on track. With these hacks, your brain will have to work a lot harder to make you lose your train of thought! Now you’ll be more prepared to tackle any subject matter, no matter how deep or technical, that comes your way.
