COURT CASES ARE LIKE PREPARING FORWAR The Lessons We Can Learn From History

The American Revolution began on April 19, 1775, with the battles of Lexington and Concord. When looking at the RevolutionaryWar, not only can we understand our history and where we came from, but we can also use these experiences in our own battles. Everyone has their own wars theymust fight — no matter how large or small they are. Alongwithmy battles, I am also helpingmy clients with their battles during their court cases. I see a lot of similarities between defending someone in court and the Revolutionary War. Although these two situations are taking place in two different time periods with other factors, the experiences, lessons, and preparation of the patriots in 1775 can help me with my cases.

time, dedication, and preparation, soldiers can fight their way to victory. These tools can also help my clients and me during cases. Quite often, we are the underdogs. We’re outgunned or facing an opponent with more resources and experience. But with our determination, we have a greater desire to win — we will prevail. I think preparation is the most essential part in times of war and during a case. During the American Revolution, GeorgeWashington took his troops to Valley Forge for the winter to prepare for battle the following season. This allowed him and his troops to stay ready to fight and win the war. Likewise, I prepare for cases by talking to witnesses, reviewing evidence, researching particular issues, and being aware of the difficult points or weaknesses of the case. Both war and court cases are long processes — things aren’t going to happen quickly and automatically. It takes time to get everything and everyone ready. But this waiting game is highly beneficial. I encourage my clients to play the waiting game. Patience is the key here because sometimes our opponents are unwilling to play the long game and stick with it. By waiting it out and seeing who can outlast the other side, we can be successful. It shows that we’re willing to put the time and effort into what you believe in. Defending people in court is a lot like fighting awar. The preparation and thought processes of the two are similar. I dedicate myself and my firm to providing you with the best experience possible and will do everything in my

Although we may have outcomes that we wish were different, there is always a chance that things can still go our way. Some battles will be lost within the war, but that doesn’t mean the war is over.

One of the biggest similarities is the wins and losses. In the early part of the RevolutionaryWar, the patriots lost almost every battle against the British. You would think by losing all these battles, they would’ve lost the war. But that’s not the case — and this resembles court hearings. Sometimes, my client and I will have setbacks with their case. We may have lost the motion or hearing, but that doesn’t mean our job is finished. Although we may have outcomes that we wish were different, there is always a chance that things can still go our way. Some battles will be lost within the war, but that doesn’t mean the war is over. With

power to help you get the outcome you deserve. So don’t worry if we lose some of our battles; we are still in this war — together.
