Reflecting on the many clients I have met with, served, and dynamically impacted, one of the most disheartening things I have encountered is watching an individual recall meeting with a lawyer 15 years ago and being told that there was no hope in their immigration case. That person has missed out on many years and opportunities to have gotten their green card, but because they were told no, they’ve missed out on holidays, birthdays, or the chance to care for their elderly family members back home in another country. NEW FRONTIER CAN HELP WITH YOUR GREEN CARD The Time Is Now One of the most impactful things about New Frontier Immigration Law is that we do things differently — we look at the same problem that other attorneys have looked at in the past, and because we look at it slightly differently, even though it is the same person sitting in front of us, we are able to get different results. For that client who missed out on 15 years, we still provide hope and positivity. We just wish we had the chance to sit down with them 15 years sooner. The time is now — not in three months or six months. Whether you haven’t spoken with us before, or if you have and the realization that something CAN be done after being told no for so long was unsettling, now is always the time to just do something. One of the biggest hurdles we face when making big decisions in life is indecision because oftentimes we don’t know how we will solve the problem. But it starts with just a phone call. “Just shake off the paralysis and do something today — it’ll pay dividends six months or a year from now.”

If 10 years ago, you saw a dermatologist because you had a skin condition, and they told you there was nothing they can do, that you will likely have to cope with the condition for the rest of your life, you don’t have to settle for that answer. You can still seek out other options and opportunities. The same is true with immigration — much more so than medicine — because immigration laws are always changing, sometimes every four years, sometimes daily. At New Frontier Immigration Law, we don’t have to wait around for somebody else to change the law — we have the tools right now for most people. Today, we are helping people get their green cards and win their immigration cases with respect to a law that President Joe Biden helped draft in 1992 when he was a senator. The law has been there all along, but people just don’t talk about it. Just shake off the paralysis and do something today — it’ll pay dividends six months or a year from now. Just call our office for a free screening to determine if you qualify for assistance. If so,

then we are thrilled for you to come in and meet with us to get started right away. If you aren’t eligible today, that doesn’t mean you will not be eligible in the future. Let’s get started because the time is now — tomorrow is too late!

Whether you’re hanging out at home or camping with the family, card games are a great way to relax. A single deck is versatile and easy to pack, so if you have one on hand, try these two games that go beyond the classics like War and Go Fish. 1. SLAPJACK (2+ Players, No Jokers) : The goal of this War-style game is to win all of the cards. To start, deal all of the cards face down, then have everyone form their cards into a pile without looking at them. Each player then flips a card face up into the center. Continue doing this until one of the cards played is a jack. When that happens, the first person to slap the jack wins it and the cards beneath! They add them to their deck, and play continues until one player has all of the cards. To keep things interesting, if you accidentally slap a card that isn’t a jack, you have to give up one of your cards to the player with that pile, and if you run out of cards, you can reenter the game by slapping the very next jack. 2. SPAR (2–4 Players, No Ace of Spades or Cards Below 6) : This easy game is played with just 35 cards, and the object is to win the last round (aka trick). To start, deal five cards to each player. Then, have the person to the left of the dealer lay one of their cards face up. Each person in the circle then plays a card in the same suit if they can or another suit if they can’t. Whoever has the highest card in the original suit wins the trick and starts the next one! The winner of the fifth trick wins the game. If you want to keep score, award three points if the winning card is a six, two points if it’s a seven, and one point if it’s an eight or higher. Then play again! We found these games on BicycleCards.com, but you can learn about them and dozens of others by checking out “The Ultimate Book of Family Card Games” by Oliver Ho from your local library. 2 Fun Family Card Games to Play With 1 Deck

(USCIS). “It’s the last step before anything gets sent out — that’s a big responsibility,”

Raquel notes. Everything, even copies of birth certificates and statements, must be reviewed before they are sent out, and it can be time consuming! Raquel loves her job and is proud to be a member of the team, helping others change their lives for the better each day. She says, “The coolest part about my job is that after waiting for a year to find out if a client got approved for the benefit that they were requesting as they made it to the final step, I get to be a part of the conversation to let them know they are approved.” She explains how rewarding it is to be able to help people and make a difference. Raquel is Mexican and has lived in a border town: El Paso, Texas. She relates to the struggles of people on a day-to-day basis. “I know firsthand that they are not always treated the best and being able to help people in my community to win, that is the most valuable thing to me,” Raquel states. She was previously a licensed attorney in Mexico, practicing tax law, and made a complete change to get her master’s in the United States. She’s thrilled to be more involved with people from different places and assist with their struggles. Outside of work, Raquel trains in martial arts, both muay thai and taekwondo. She loves it because at the end of each session, they practice yoga as well, and it’s the perfect combination of intensity and relaxation. Although Raquel loves her coffee and admits she’s slightly addicted, she loves her job more. She states, “I’ve fallen in love with being able to help people and be a part of their journey.”

The Secret Sauce Cook With the Same Ingredients Without Getting Bored

SIMPLE LEMON HERB SAUCE Want a lighter, healthier option? Go for an oil-and-herb sauce like FoodNetwork.com’s “Chicken With a Lemon Herb Sauce.” In a blender or food processor, add 1 peeled clove of garlic, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 cup freshly chopped herbs of your choice (they recommend a mix of parsley and mint), 1 1/2 tsp ground pepper, the zest and juice of 1 lemon, and 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil. Pulse all ingredients together until well mixed and the herbs and garlic are coarsely chopped. QUICK MISO MAPLE SAUCE This umami-filled sauce from Kitchn.com brings a lot of flavor with just three simple ingredients: 1/2 cup tamari or soy sauce, 1/2 cup maple syrup, and 1/4 cup miso paste. That’s it! Whisk the ingredients together and pour over oven-roasted, pan-seared, or grilled chicken and serve. These three sauces are a great place to start, but if you find yourself uninspired in the kitchen, just look up “simple sauces” online and the protein or vegetable you’re preparing. The internet will come to the rescue every time!

One upside to spending more than a year at home was that many people donned their aprons, learned new recipes and techniques, and began cooking meals regularly in their own kitchens. Even as restaurants reopen, over 70% of Americans say they’ll keep their new habit of cooking at home because it’s healthier and cheaper. That said, the average American can only whip up about five meals without a recipe at hand, and many people cook and eat the same types of protein and vegetables over and over. One easy way to avoid boredom is to keep your main staples but diversify your sauce routine! When in doubt, learn one creamy sauce and one herb- or citrus-based sauce. Here are a few examples that work particularly well for chicken, America’s favorite animal protein. These can be used with your other favorite meats and your favorite vegetable preparations, as well! 5-MINUTE HONEYMUSTARD SAUCE To avoid hearing “chicken again?!” add this honey mustard sauce from PinchOfYum.com to your repertoire. Simply whisk together 1/4 cup honey, 1/4 cup mayo, 1/4 cup

Dijon mustard, 1 tbsp white vinegar, and 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper for a delicious topper for all meats.

Nothing to See Here: Mystery Spot Tourism

The most famous mystery spot is in Santa Cruz, California, but it has cousins in Oregon, West Virginia, and Michigan. Each one is inexplicable — drawing thousands of people every year to come and spend their tourist dollars. And for many, the whole thing is just one big hoax, designed to take in suckers and generate cash. Although Santa Cruz has the most visitors, it was “inspired” by the Oregon Vortex, which was a spot that had odd occurrences “documented” back to the early frontier days. From a mining office sliding off its foundation to the high presence of optical illusions, the Vortex was the home to some odd events. Naturally, the thing to do was build a structure there and start taking people’s money! It’s not a coincidence that these locations began to pop up at the same time as the average American got access to automobiles — “roadside

attractions” of all kinds have been the rage since people began to tour America by car, and it’s pretty clear that, real or not, these mystery spots fall into that category. That’s why many of them have updated over the years to suit changing tastes — such as the Michigan St. Ignace Mystery Spot’s addition of zip lines and other attractions. And unlike many other roadside attractions, mystery spots continue to draw attention. Something in the American psyche loves the idea of the paranormal; Google “Europe mystery spots” and you’re likely to discover lists of unique vacation destinations. Perhaps they recapture the “paradise is just over the hill” mystery that in part drove colonization of the American West. Or perhaps it’s all a bunch of hooey. The best way to decide, of course, is to visit one of these mystery spots for yourself!
