Message from the President by Mike Burton, President, Board of Governors

Our June edition focus is on our current state with the construction projects at hand. Two new Pickle Ball courts are shaping up, which I know is exciting to all our tennis and pickle ball enthusiasts. Pickle ball is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States and we have players of all age groups taking to our courts. In addition, we will be working on the fencing, light- ing and adding some fresh paint. As most of you can see, the West Nine Golf Course project is well under way. Heavy equipment is on location, sand has been delivered, old greens are being removed and new greens are soonon theirway. We startedputtingnewsandonour 3rd hole just the other day. Our construction company is working with our golf superintendent and his team and we are pleased with the progress being made. Get in a cart one day with Joe, our pro and take a look at things when you have the time. I did last week and it is a very interesting process. Our strategic planning committee continues to meet and work hard on their priorities, identified earlier in the year. Solar bids have been received and reviewed by the committee and recommendations were made to the

Board of Governors. Upon a final review, information will be provided to our current membership. Our summer camp program continues through the end of the month, with over 50 children at the club during the day. We are close to completing the Banquet room facility and new carpeting will be in place in the month of July. A special thanks to Maryann McBee for her time and effort managing the project throughout the year. Our 4th of July Fireworks celebration is back again and we already have over 600 reservations. Basque night on Sundays continues to be a popular dining experience, along with our Friday Night Live. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful country club with a very special mission of accomplishing some very special things and run by a great staff. Seven Oaks is indeed a special place with a great big family-like atmosphere. Stay safe and thank you for your continued support!

I hope to see you on the courts, in the gym, on the course or having a cold beverage!

Manager's Message

by Enrique Contreras, CCM, General Manager/COO

Summer is upon us and we hope that everyone is safe and productive over the next few months! With the warmer weather, members and their guests tend to be a little more 'casual' with our dress code. We please ask that you ahere to our dress code when at the club, and remind your guests to dress appropriately when they visit. Our full dress code for all areas of the club is located on the Seven Oaks Country Club website for your review. The Club is almost 100% open and there is a lot going on. New carpet will be installed in the pro -shop very soon and carpet for the ladies and men’s lockers rooms is currently in the process of being ordered. Chef Corey is working on a new Oak Room Menu, and Josh and the Bartenders have started a new cocktail menu. Next time you are at the Club, please give it a try and let us know what you think. Our Sunday Basque dinner continues to gain popularity. If you haven’t experienced it yet, we encourage you to do so. Our Wednesday Pasta Night is back, as well as our Sunday Brunch. Both will be our traditional full buffet set ups so make your reservations today, and don’t miss it! We will be welcoming a new Catering and Member Events Manager, starting on July 5th. Renee Ord, joins us from Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, California, where she brings with her 10 years of Member and Event experience. The next time you need a special event, please contact Renee or just come by and say hello. We will be continuing our exercise classes and aquatic classes. We are also offering private swimming lessons so please contact Alisson for reservations. I’d like to thank all of the Directors and staff for continuing to work on exceeding our members expectations, each and every day. We thank you for your continued support and utilizing our great Club. If you have any questions or concerns, please call or contact me at: [email protected] See you at the Club!

From the Golf Shop

by Joe Haggerty, PGA Director of Golf

Very little time or attention is given to learning golf course etiquette and it is creating problems for our golf professional staff, superintendent, and members of Seven Oaks Country Club. The following is a brief list of rules of conduct every golfer should know before hitting their first tee shot. These rules and procedures are listed in order of importance. Speed of Play Each hole should be played in an average 14 minutes or less. Many people think that if there is no one pushing them, they don’t have to maintain this pace. However, you can help the ranger do his job better and open up the course to more players by maintaining this pace. Tips for Fast Play 1. Be prepared to hit when it is your turn. Drop your partner at their ball with a few clubs to choose from and then go to your ball and be ready to hit. 2. When you arrive at the green, drive your cart or lay your bag beyond the far end of the green (heading towards the next tee) so when you’ve finished putting, you’ll exit the green quickly and the people behind you can hit almost immediately. 3. Prepare to putt while others are putting. Be ready to put when it’s your turn. 4. Limit your number of practice swings. No practice swings on the tee boxes and making divots! Keep waggles to one. 5. Use your yardage markers and colored flags on the flagsticks, which indicate the flags location on the green. Range Finders for sale in Pro Shop. 6. Play one ball! 7. Limit your number of strokes per hole to four over the hole’s par. Pick your ball up when you’ve reached the point of “NO RETURN”, “DOUBLE PAR PICK UP”! Arrive at Least 30 Minutes Prior to Your Tee Time and Check In. This gives you time to change your shoes and spikes, check in, warm up, buy what you need; look over the course information and let the starter know you’re ready. Tee times are times that you are “Teeing off” on the tee box. Observe Golf Cart Rules for the Day Whether it is “Cart Path Only” or “90 Degree Rule” abide by these rules, which are to protect the course from excessive damage. We are proud of our course and we hope you enjoy playing it. Golf carts weigh 1500 lb. And when operated improperly, they can cause extensive damage. When the “90 degree rule” is in force, drive your cart from the cart path to your ball and back on the same perpendicular line. Never drive your cart down the fairway or rough.
