The period from late 1960 to 1990 saw intensified use of the tennis facilities at ANCC. Member participation in tennis was increasing and the facilities were being utilized to the maximum. In September 1973 the pressure was significantly lessened by the construction of four more Har-Tru courts in the area east of the Clubhouse, just outside the Mixed Grill. Later in 1976, a practice court was completed in the North Parking lot and in 1980 two Plaxi-Pave (all-weather) courts were opened for play at the Fairfax campus. A long-sought-after addition to the Arlington facilities came to fruition with the completion of four all-weather, bubble covered courts just off Memorial drive. During these years the Club saw many famous tennis professionals and celeb- rities playing on ANCC courts. ANCC had achieved a nation-wide reputation for superlative tennis.
