President’s Message
Welcome to Wabash Valley College!
I’m excited you’ve chosen to attend WVC! This is an excellent place to begin a four-year degree or learn an occupation through a two-year degree. Building a firm educational foundation requires teamwork. WVC works with area partners to provide you with opportunities to put principles into practice.
These opportunities help prepare you to meet the demands of your future careers. People respect our graduates for the superior quality of their preparation and performance, and our alumni are justifiably proud of WVC.
I am thrilled to be a part of Wabash Valley College; I know you will be, too!
Sincerely, Dr. Matt Fowler President of Wabash Valley College

Student Services Overview
Student Services is located in Main Hall on the first floor. In Student Services, you’ll have access to the Business Office, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, the Retention Coordinator, and the Registrar. It’s important to be familiar with these
offices during your time here at WVC. Part of your academic advisor’s job is helping you understand various aspects of college life. For starters, your advisor will tell you that you need several things to complete your admission file: high school transcript/GED, proof of residency, official college transcripts (for transfer students), official AP scores from the College Board, and entrance exam results (ACCUPLACER, ACT, SAT). Your advisor can also teach you about other aspects of college life. For example, you have to be enrolled in 12 credit hours to be considered a full- time student. Always consult with your advisor on how many credits to take in a semester. If you should need to add or drop a class, all adds/drops must be done with an advisor or per instructor request. These changes will not be made official until paperwork is complete and done with an advisor. You’ll also find the Retention Coordinator in Student Services. The Retention Coordinator’s job is to work with you, your advisor, and your professors to help ensure your success here at WVC. The Retention Coordinator monitors student progress and intervenes when a student success, their professor, or their advisor is concerned about their academic success. Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA or they will be put on Academic Probation, which can lead to a loss of financial aid. In order for students to receive Academic Honors, they must maintain a 3.5 GPA. Because Student Services houses so many different offices, when you need something starting in Student Services is a safe bet. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, they know the office that does!

The Academic Success Center The Academic Success Center located in the Science Building office 41; they are the all glass office near the vending machines. The ASC’s goal is to empower students to succeed. The ASC oversees services
designed to help students reach their goals. Tutoring, Testing, and Disability Services all operate out of the Academic Success Center. Tutoring Services are located in the library and offered
every weekday at various times. The goal of the ASC is to have a tutor available for all core classes and some other classes as well. Tutors are paid students who have successfully taken or are taking these classes. Tutoring is in person and available to all students. The Academic Success Center endeavors to provide resources, support, and accommodations for students with disabilities, striving to remove any possible barrier to your educational success. With that in mind, if you have a documented disability, please be sure to bring your documentation to their office so that we can make sure you are given the accommodations you need to succeed. For example, if you had an IEP or 504 plan in high school please bring a copy of that documentation to our office so that we can be sure you are given things like: extended time on tests, testing in an alternate setting, or possibly having your test read to you if that is something you need. Also, if you ever physically injure yourself and you are in need of accommodations such as having someone carry your books, or take notes for you, etc. please let their office know so that we can be sure you get what you need. If a student misses a test due to illness or athletic event, they are able to schedule a make up test in our office. This is a normal occurrence and is simple for all if an appointment is made with our office. The ASC is your Hub for Help. We are here to help with anything you are having trouble with, even directions to your classes if you can’t seem to find them. We may not always have the answer right away, but we will find it for you. Contact info: Academic Success Center, Science Building 41, Tabby Niduaza, [email protected], 618.263.5126
