The Relationship between Shakespeare and the Current Pandemic
During Shakespeare’s lifetime there were several outbreaks of a plague during which public
gathering such as going to the theatre were banned. The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust has
provided some great resources about the plague and medical practices during Shakespeare’s
time. Have fun exploring their materials here: https://www.shakespeareweek.org.uk/
A note on Comedy and Violence
This play humorous depictions of violent acts. Indeed, humor can be used as a coping
mechanism to allow us to access and process or feelings regarding uncomfortable subjects.
Please follow this link to a video we have made about comedy and violence.
