Our Power Generation Group works with large regulated utilities on projects related to new site development, improvements to infrastructure, and decommissioning of facilities. Representative Projects Fossil Plant Ash Pond Closure Work performed involved excavation and transport of approximately 875,000 tons of CCR to complete closure of an ash holding pond. Fossil Plant Dredge Cell Closure Cap Work performed involved installation of ~ 9,800,000 SF of flexible membrane liner, ~ 9,600,000 SF of geocomposite, and ~ 500,000 SF of geotextile fabric; placement of ~ 8,900,000 SF of cap cover soil; and installation of ~ 37,000 LF of high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe. Fossil Plant Dry Fly Ash Stack Final Closure Work performed involved installation of ~ 3,500,000 SF of liner and geocomposite as well as ~ 900,000 SF of geotextile fabric, placement of ~ 190,000 CY of cap cover soil and ~ 60,000 CY of subgrade fill material, installation of ~ 13,000 LF of HDPE pipe, and spreading of ~ 24,000 tons of access road stone. Fossil Plant Combined-Cycle Natural Gas Plant Work performed involved site development work for the new plant that included clearing and grubbing of a 12 acre site, 615,000 CY of excavation, 220,000 SY of grading, and installation of storm drainage and outlet control structures. Dan River CCR Recovery Work performed involved removal of ~ 3,000 tons of CCR from the Dan River at several locations - release resulted Work performed involved construction of a 19 acre flue gas desulfurization (FGD) gypsum by-product handling facility that included installation of a composite liner consisting of HDPE liner, Gundseal, and geocomposite drainage net as well as construction of concrete sumps, concrete drainage aprons, and a truck scale. SteamStation Structural Fill Cap Work performed involved closure of a 22 acre fly ash structural fill area that included transport of ~ 80,000 CY of fly ash from the site to a landfill; re-location of ~ 90,000 CY of fly ash at the site; and installation of ~ 930,000 SF of linear low density polyethylene liner, ~ 900,000 SF of geosynthetic drainage layer, and ~ 10,600 LF of toe and interceptor drains. SteamStation Fly Ash Landfill Construction Work performed involved construction of two fly ash storage ponds (33 total acres) that included ~ 1,100,000 CY of excavation, ~ 168,000 CY of embankment construction, installation of ~ 1,300,000 SF of HDPE liner, construction of internal cell berms, installation of HDPE piping and leachate sump risers with pumps, and construction of a leachate lift station. SteamStation FGDGypsumLandfill Construction Work performed involved construction of a FGD gypsum landfill cell that included 17 acres of subgrade preparation and installation of the cell liner consisting of ~ 520,000 SF of unreinforced geosynthetic clay liner and smooth HDPE liner, ~ 230,000 SF of reinforced geosynthetic clay liner and textured HDPE liner, and ~ 750,000 SF of gas diffusion layer material. from failure of a steam station ash holding pond. Representative Projects North Fork Spillway and Embankment Improvements (NC)

Construction of a new auxiliary spillway, modifications to the intake tower and rehabilitation of the principal spillway on a high hazard dam. Crews will form and place over 20,000 CY of concrete and excavate 350,000 CY of earth. Boone Hydro Project- BermConstruction (TN) Widening the crest of the earth embankment section of Boone Dam to facilitate future construction of a cut-off wall and, also, to improve the structural stability of the dam. Approximately 140,000 CY rock fill will be placed to widen the berms on both the upstream and downstream slopes of the existing earth embankment. Catawba RawWater Reservoir & Pump Station (SC) Construction of a 110-foot tall earthen embankment and an 85-foot tall new pump station. The project required a 72-foot deep 1,500 LF cement-bentonite cutoff wall, 750,000 CY of zoned embankment material, 37,000 CY of blanket CMAR project consisting of 15 wetland cells within a 176-acre area that will allow reclaimed water to be pumped into the wetland cells to infiltrate and recharge the local aquifer. Included over 200,000 CY of excavation and embankment placement, installation of over 40,000 LF of piping, and installation of instrumentation and electrical components. Lane City Reservoir (TX) The 40,000-acre-foot off channel reservoir consists of approximately 5 miles of 40-foot tall earthen embankment dam. Total material excavation and placement on the project was over 11 million CY. There was 250,000 CY of stair-stepped soil cement, 600,000 CY filter drain material and a slurry wall. The project also required rehabilitation of 2 existing agricultural pump stations, canal widening and concrete lining, construction of a new re-lift pump station and conduit through the embankment, a new river outfall pipeline and a discharge structure. Soque RiverWatershedDams 29, 34, and 36 Rehabilitation (GA) Rehabilitation of the Soque River Watershed High Hazard Dams 29, 34, and 36 to avoid future failure. Onsite mixing and placing of 16,500 CY RCC, 2,200 CY of conventional concrete, 6,000 CY of filter drainage, 65,000 CY rock and common excavation, 4,300 ton of Rip/Rap placement and 21 acres of clearing. Douglas Saddle Dams 3, 9, and 10 (TN) Installation of a three part graded rock filter berm to provide drainage and stability to the Douglas Saddle Dams 3, 9, and 10. Included the import and placement of 15,000 tons of natural river sand, No. 89 stone, and No. 3 stone, as well as, installation of toe drain outlet pipe with discharge headwall, installation of reinforced concrete cutoff walls, and import and placement of Rip/Rap armoring. Cherokee Dam (TN) Dam raise project includes construction of 65,000 SF of RCC formwork, installation of 18,000 CY of RCC, and construction of 600 CY of cast-in-place concrete flood wall. and chimney drain and 4,300 CY of concrete.
