Phase I COVID-19 Workplace Health & Safety Guidelines Effective June 14, 2021

To: All MAA Associates From: Rob DelPriore, EVP & General Counsel

Update Overview Phase I will become effective Mon., June 14, 2021. In Phase I, you must continue to maintain a social distance, and if you’re not fully vaccinated, you must wear a mask inside MAA buildings while around others. Most important of all, if you learn you have been around someone who has tested positive or if you feel sick, stay home . You must also continue to complete a daily COVID-19 Health and Vaccination Screening Questionnaire before you start work.

PHASE I: COVID-19 WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES as of June 14, 2021 General Guidelines

• Stay home if you are sick. If you are not feeling well, stay home and notify your manager. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, we encourage you to call your doctor. If you are covered under MAA’s health plan, you may use telehealth services or call Cigna for assistance. • Complete the Daily COVID-19 Health Screening and Vaccination Questionnaire. You must continue to complete the Daily COVID-19 Health Screening and Vaccination Questionnaire each day. • Communicating openly and with integrity is one of our Core Values, and we expect you to respect this principle when answering the questionnaire every day. • If you indicate you are fully vaccinated : The COVID Benefits team will confirm a vaccination card is on file for you. The mask acknowledgement will not appear in your questionnaire because you are free to go without your mask if you choose to do so. “ Fully vaccinated ” means two weeks have passed since a person received the second dose of Pfizer or Moderna or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. ▪ If you are fully vaccinated and have not provided confirmation, please email a picture or copy of your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card to [email protected] or upload a picture of your COVID-19 Vaccination Card when completing the questionnaire.

• You only need to provide this information once time.

• Vaccine documentation is kept confidential by the MAA COVID Benefits team and is used to confirm whether face coverings are optional and determine whether you would need to quarantine if you are exposed to a person with COVID-19.

• If you indicate you are not fully vaccinated : Until you are fully vaccinated, you must wear a face covering inside MAA buildings and not alone in your workspace. You must complete the mask acknowledgement before submitting your questionnaire each day. ▪ As a reminder we offer our MAA Workplace COVID-19 Vaccination Program in support of associates who get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Masks for Associates .

• In accordance with CDC guidance, face coverings are optional for associates who are fully vaccinated inside MAA buildings and not alone in their workspace. • Associates who are not fully vaccinated are required to use face coverings over their noses and mouths while inside MAA buildings and not alone in their workspace. • Masks are not indications of vaccination status. Fully vaccinated associates may choose to continue to wear masks. As part of our Core Values of respecting each other and appreciating the uniqueness of each individual, do not assume anything from a face covering. Further, associates should not ask other associates about their vaccination status or treat anyone differently because of their personal decision regarding COVID-19 vaccinations. • Masks for Residents, Guests and Vendors. Residents, guests and vendors who are fully vaccinated are not required to wear masks. We will not require proof of vaccination. • Continue to carry a face covering with you even if you are fully vaccinated. During your interactions with others, you may be asked to wear it, and we should comply as part of our commitment to provide excellent customer service that is the trademark of MAA.

• Reporting COVID-19 Exposure or a Confirmed Case. Please email [email protected] in any of the following situations:

• If you are diagnosed with, or exhibit symptoms of, COVID-19, or determine you have been exposed to someone confirmed to have COVID-19. • If you become aware of an associate who has COVID-19 or has been exposed to COVID-19.

Social Distancing Guidelines

• Continue to follow social distancing protocols during Phase I regardless of vaccination status. We are intentionally being more conservative than CDC guidance in this respect to assess the impact of lifting the mask requirement for fully vaccinated associates. We hope to relax social distancing requirements as part of Phase II and when it appears safe to do so.

• Interviews with Job Candidates. Final interviews may be conducted virtually or in person.

• Meetings . All associates may resume in-person meetings. Please follow the mask and social distancing requirements explained here and any signage posted on conference room doors. A virtual meeting option should be made available to all participants.

• Travel for business. Associates may resume travel for business as long as they are following

the requirements to wear a mask on planes, buses, trains and other forms of public transportation, and in U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations. Respiratory and Hygienic Etiquette & Guidelines • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. If soap and water aren't available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol.

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these Phase I COVID-19 Workplace Health and Safety Guidelines or you observe another associate who is demonstrating a clear disregard of these guidelines, you may call 855-778-0185, speak to your manager and/or contact the COVID Benefits team.
