IT’S THE ONLY WAY WE KNOW WORK HARD AND PLAY HARD

Growing up, we both were introduced to hard work at a young age. At the age of 9, Jeremy went to live with his grandparents on the family cotton and wheat farm in Texas. He went from a chaotic environment, bouncing from home to home, to the tough farm boy life. There, he learned the benefits of putting in long hours, how to lift more weight than he ever thought he could, and what it truly means to work “hard.” For Tiffany, she lost her mom unexpectedly when she was young, which forced her to grow up fast and take charge of her life. She worked with her grandmother in the antique business, and she took on the lawn care for her grandfather while he was suffering from cancer. She learned the value of hard work, excellent customer service, and taking care of others to ensure she got the job done right the first time around. As we both started young, we have a great foundation of the true meaning of hard work and have carried those skills over to our business. When we first moved to Florida, we, like many homeowners, struggled to find a contractor to help us out with certain projects. They either wouldn’t answer the phone, wouldn’t show up, or would try to gather the information they needed from us over the phone to avoid coming out. It was a frustrating process and taught us who we didn’t want to be as business owners. Instead, we wanted to be just like our grandparents — hard workers with a great moral compass and compassion for others. We are available, responsive, honest, and helpful. Aug. 5 is a quirky and fun day known as Work Like a Dog Day. It celebrates those who go the extra mile to ensure things are done to the best of their ability. As business owners, we do often work like dogs to

make sure our customers and team members are well taken care of. We strive to be the best and always offer high-quality services, but we also know when it’s time to take a day (or a few) for ourselves to recharge our batteries and enjoy our world’s beauty. Our two favorite places to unplug and relax are at the beach or hiking in the mountains. It seems most everyone we meet down here are constantly tasked with things or are consumed with their jobs and have little family time available. Taking a rest day or a personal day off of work winds up being a day spent diving into the “honey do” list at home. But that’s where we come in! We have the equipment and staff trained to effectively and efficiently get jobs done and done the right way. For example, it may take a homeowner eight full hours to clean their pool deck and lanai; it would take us about an hour or two to do that same job as we clean day in and day out and have the proper equipment. It’s important to take time for yourself when you can to allow your body to reset and recharge. Don’t waste your day off with working even more. Aug. 15 is National Relaxation Day, a day to promote the body’s need for a break in order to keep ourselves operating at full capacity and to avoid burnout. Finding a balance between work and allowing yourself time to breathe is so important for our physical, emotional, and mental health. So, let us help you out — we have the team and equipment. Please know that in the dead of hurricane season, we are still working hard while monitoring the weather to keep our team safe. While August is typically the wettest month of the year, keep in mind that it’s also an excellent time to have your pool cage and lanai cleaned. When it rains hard, dirt and debris fall down off of your screen and onto your pool deck and sometimes right into your pool, which makes a mess. We’d love to help you get exteriors back to pristine shape so for all inquiries or expert washing and sealing services, give us a call today! And for all of those getting ready to head back to school, your friends and family at Premier Pro Wash & Seal wish you a happy 2022–2023 school year! –Jeremy & Tiffany Forrest

SPREAD YOUR FAIRY WINGS How to Build a Fairy Utopia

Make the Most of Every Nook and Cranny

If you’re looking for a fun addition to your outdoor space or a crafty project for the kids, creating a fairy garden might fit the bill. You can grow fairy gardens in a small pot, garden bed, or planter, and they typically consist of small plants and trinkets to “attract” fairies to it. Creating your own personalized fairy garden encourages you or your kids to get involved with nature on a smaller scale, and that’s where the real magic is. Getting Started With Your Fairy Garden A fairy garden offers an enchanted space kids can use to develop their imaginations and flex their creative minds. Adults can, too! But first, you need to gather the materials:

• A container with drainage holes • Potting mix

• Plants, twigs, and/or flowers • Pebbles or glass marbles • Garden decorations

As people spend more time in their houses, the boundaries between home, work, and leisure are blurred more than ever, which can impact mood and productivity. No matter where you live — a single-family suburban home or a one-bedroom apartment — you want to squeeze as much function as you can in an existing space. These tactics will help you get the most out of your abode.

Next, get creative and decide on the theme of your garden. You can match your fairy garden to the style of your home or your locale, or dream big and choose whatever you’d like. Popular themes are a wooded wonderland, castles, fairy villages, or even the beach! There truly is no limit. Once you choose a theme, go

Fold it away.

One of the first steps in creating more space is to utilize multifunctional furniture. These are pieces that can fold and free up floor space when they’re not in use, or they can even transform into another piece of useful furniture. Instead of using a free-standing desk, you can go with a fold-away desk that disappears into your wall or can easily be hidden in a storage area or under the bed. There are also tables that transform and expand when needed. You can look into using a bed that folds into the wall, as they come with built-in storage options to keep extra bedding, clothes, shoes, and other space-hogging items.

to your local nursery or craft store to find decorations to build your fairy utopia. Building Your Themed Garden After the container is filled with soil, you can use moss or pebbles to create paths for the fairies. Lay a good foundation so you can begin decorating with accessories and plants. Narrow down your plant selection based on where the garden will be located, for example, whether it’s

exposed to full or partial sun. Succulents, small bonsai trees, or even ivy can be great choices for a fairy garden. Finally, once you’ve selected and planted the greenery, you can start laying out the accessories. These can include miniature versions of many things:

If you have an open-floor plan, combining rooms is a great way to make the most of the existing space. Combining rooms like the dining room and kitchen is ideal for social gatherings in one area where no one is cut off from the crowd while cooking. Another combination is a bedroom closet and office. A few shelves and a chair can morph a closet into a great office workplace, and you can even tuck it behind a curtain when it’s not in use. You can also use this technique in an empty corner of a room. When it comes to creating a multifunctional area, it’s not about dividing the room in half. Instead, it’s about allocating your space according to how you’re actually going to use it. You can really use every nook and cranny of your home to your advantage, and it’ll give you plenty of room for more activities.

• Chairs and tables • Birdhouses • Toadstools • Lanterns

• Animals • Mushrooms • Fairy statues

The point of a fairy garden is to create something fun and imaginative. This fun project will add a whimsical, eye-catching area to your outdoor space.

SETTING BOUNDARIES FOR YOUR TEENS • Honesty — creating a judgment-free space to be open and speak freely • Responsibility — taking accountability for one’s mistakes • Respect — learning how to communicate boundaries effectively Be Supportive, Not Enabling Supporting someone is helping them do something they might not be able to do themselves in the right conditions, whereas enabling is stepping in and mitigating consequences that would otherwise be a result of a negative choice. Enabling is an undesirable behavior that can occur when parents give in to complaints or demands to avoid conflict. Instead of avoiding possible conflict, it’s best to support your older children while they navigate through your rules. Allow them to have questions or make mistakes. That way you can provide a framework where they have the ability to act and make decisions on their own. Setting rules or boundaries for your older kids is an essential tool that aids in their development. Over time, the process will help lay the foundations for them to become self-regulating adults.

As children grow older, some tend to engage in more risky behaviors. They like to test their parents’ patience and limits to see what they can actually get away with. But when you establish boundaries with your older children, it can set them up for success and teach them a thing or two about responsibility. Creating Boundaries That Reflect Your Values You cannot simply say the rules — your actions must reinforce them if you want them to be followed. They must also reflect the positive values that mean the most to you, as they will influence how your children see you. The clearer your values are, the easier it is to express and communicate them to your older kids, and the more likely they are to follow along with the boundaries that respect those values.

Here is a list of core family values to consider:

• Positive relationships — whether that be with family members, friends, coworkers, or even strangers • Priorities — define what matters to your family first

Plants You Can Grow in Late Summer

Keep Up With Your Garden As summer slowly comes to an end, so does the peak season of gardening. But there are still some short-seasoned edibles and other ornamental plants to refresh any flower bed before winter rolls in.

Even in August

Fast-growing cucumber plants can be ready in about 40 days. This is a great fall harvesting veggie that can have 10–15 cucumbers ready by the end of their season.

Spinach is a hardy green that can withstand colder

temperatures. You can sprinkle seeds along a row or even interplant between taller crops to provide shelter from the late summer sun. Marigolds are sturdy annual plants that will stay strong until the first hard frost comes along.

They come in bright yellows, orange, or even cream and can be great for dressing up beds or adding a pop of color in any room.

Another gorgeous annual flower is the snapdragon . You can get plenty of colorful blooms before a hard freeze because they still grow well in cooler weather. And as an added bonus, pollinators love them!
