Strategic Hiring 101

RV Park Crowding: Is It Too Early to Reserve 2023? Many RV parks are already filling up for next summer reservations. Kenneth P. has reservations at the Grand Old RV Resort for October 2022 and April 2023. Tropic Winds in Harlingen enjoys the snowbirds and has an early bird special in February for the following winter. “I’ve not had problems reserving parks for traveling to our main stops. I make reservations as early as possible,” declared Kenneth. A Canadian newbie, Lenard R., said, “I started making reservations from Georgia to Florida to Texas 6–8 months in advance. Even then, some of our preferred destinations were completely sold out.” “My takeaway for everyone? Be flexible, be early to book, and don’t double book. If you are RVing, you truly have made it, and all the inconveniences associated with crowded RV parks and resorts are just First-World problems,” said Lenard. In summary, it may not be too early to reserve some popular resorts for 2023. And Lenard gives us good advice to just enjoy the journey.

When I first started my business, I had to wear many hats. This was effective for a while, but I soon began to feel burnt out and stressed. I realized that as much as I want to do everything, I can’t. I’m sure I’m not alone in this feeling, either! For my business to be successful, I had to hire people best fit for the job. This can be tricky because there are tons of people searching for jobs. This is where strategic hiring can come into play.

What is strategic hiring?

It’s a process that makes hiring and onboarding part of your company’s future vision. This type of recruitment requires a lot of patience. It involves analyzing what you need in this position now and in the future and the skills your new employee will need in order to be successful.

Determine what you’re looking for.

Look at the strengths and weaknesses of your company and be honest with yourself. This will help you determine the needs of the position and the goals for the organization. You want to be aware of your company’s culture and brand so you can attract the right candidates for the job. What problems will the new hire be required to solve? Who will they have the most contact with?

Don’t leave strategic recruitment just to your recruiters. Although recruiters help companies find talent, hiring managers and business managers will need to play a role during the hiring process. Work with your recruiting team in order to find the best candidates. This will help

your team can get a better grasp of their personality.

Have the candidate talk with multiple people on your team who they could potentially be working with to see if they’re a good fit. Your team can also give you different perspectives, as resumes don’t show personality and social skills.

you find exactly what you’re looking for and ensure that every new employee is going to serve the business well. You and your team know what you want, so you can plan a big role during the recruitment process.

Meanwhile, trial assignments can help prove if potential employees can provide what you’re looking for in the position. This will also give the candidate a feel for the type of work they will be doing if they are hired. By using strategic hiring, I found employees that understand and believe in my company’s goals. I also found employees who were well suited for the job and could handle areas in the company that I couldn’t. Although there is no such thing as a perfect employee, with strategic hiring, you can get close!

Re-imagine the hiring process.

To find the right employee for your company, you want to make your candidates partake in video interviews and trial task assignments. Looking at your candidate’s resume is helpful, but it

THE VALUE OF THE CONSTITUTION

3 Reasons the Constitution Exists

Within the Articles of Confederation, Congress didn’t have the power to enforce laws and was only allowed to collect funds from each state. State governments held the majority, which made the federal government weaker. This led to states fighting over territory, war pensions, and taxation, all of which could potentially destroy the country. These issues led to the Constitutional Convention of 1787, which helped create the Constitution that we have today. You might be surprised to learn that a body of water — and other concerns — helped draft the document. Separate State Currencies Unlike today, the Confederation Period didn’t

The Erie Canal Within the Articles of Confederation, each state managed the territory that lies within their state lines. George Washington wanted to use the Erie Canal as a form of transportation but couldn’t because the canal was in New York territory. He needed permission from New York in order to use the canal. But with the development of the Constitution, the Erie Canal was managed by the federal government. Washington could then use the canal as a form of transportation into the rest of the continent. No Judiciary or Executive Branch There was only one branch for Congress, and each state had one vote in order to get laws passed. If Congress wanted to pass any laws, they needed 9 out of 13 states in order to approve it. Requiring this high majority made it difficult to pass any legislation. The Constitution divided the government into branches and gave certain powers to each branch, known as checks and balances. The first attempt at a constitution — the Articles of Confederation — failed, but with some adjustments and ratifications, the Constitutional Convention created the document we still use today.

have a common currency. The federal government and the states had separate money. This separation made trade between states and other countries extremely difficult. Due to different currencies, Congress couldn’t print out money for the entire country to use. Fortunately, the Constitution established a common currency for all states and also allowed Congress to coin money and regulate its value.

LOVE REALLY CAN BE A DRUG THE POWER OF LOVE

It’s crazy to think that being head over heels, madly in love with someone can benefit your body in the same way that broccoli can, but it’s true! Science has proven that being in love comes with myriad health benefits. Fewer colds and natural pain control? Yes, please! Love triggers the “feel good” hormone, dopamine. When you first fall in love — and the butterflies are flying uncontrollably — dopamine is at very high levels, and mentally, you’re happy, healthy, and positive. As the relationship matures, oxytocin, also known

as the bonding hormone, blends with dopamine and reduces stress. We all know that stress can lead to a number of health complications, so the less stress, the better! New research has found that just being around someone you love can act as a natural pain reliever. Research has also determined that married people complain less about headaches and back pain. When your mind is happy, your immune system is stronger, making you less prone to getting a cold or stomach bug. Some research has even shown that happily married couples live longer than those who are not happily married. The hormone vasopressin helps to control your blood pressure. Being in love releases vasopressin into your body, keeping your blood pressure at a healthy level. Both your heart and lungs are also impacted by the love you have for another. If you aren’t in love, you can still reap the benefits through a strong and healthy social support system. When you have friends who bring you joy and happiness, even just a hug may help to release positive hormones and keep your health on track. Take time to invest in positive relationships to keep your heart and body healthy and happy, both literally and figuratively.

So, what are you waiting for? Let the love flow!
