FROM THE DESK OF Bill Moist RV Park’s Crowding Is Creating A Financial Windfall For Savvy Investors

We have been pointing out the opportunity for RV parks created by the explosion of demand for two years.

Should You Be a Snowbird or a Sunbird?

Initial estimate for 2021 will be 533,356 units shipped. This would be a 23.9% increase over 2020. The 2021 projected shipments would eclipse the best year to date of 504,600 units shipped in 2017.

So, how does this growth impact owners and investors of RV parks and storage? Many RV owners report the shortage of RV parks. This creates a need to book well in advance of travel. This

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN PLANNING RETIREMENT

is contributing to the rising rental rates at RV parks. This is why RV parks are one of the most profitable segments in the travel industry. The Dallas-Fort Worth market where our Dallas Luxury RV Resort & Storage is located is seeing demand surpassing supply. One investor, KHI Real Estate, did their own analysis. They contacted 57 RV parks in the DFW area. Most were completely rented or had few vacancies. The vast majority had waiting lists.

June marks the end of a particularly busy shift in residency for our nation. As the weather warms up, the days get longer, and school lets out for the summer. Also, many residents of the northern, colder states start migrating back to their permanent summer homes in the north after spending November through June in warmer climates like Florida, Arizona, and Texas.

Like feathered birds, these snowbirds head south for the winter.

But they’re not the only ones who move as the weather changes, and if recent indications are to be believed, I predict we will see more sunbirds. Similar to their heat-seeking friends, sunbirds opt to leave their warmer climates in the summer, looking for short-term vacation residencies in northern states to escape the heat of deserts like Arizona and Texas or the storms and humidity of Florida. Regardless of what kind of bird you may be, snowbirding or sunbirding is an exciting opportunity for retirees. It allows you to travel and escape snow shoveling duty, and it may even be good for your health. But how do you know which is right for you? Is there even a difference between the two? Allow me to break it down for you!

WOW! What a business? Some properties have a waiting list so large that they don’t even answer the phone.

How can you benefit from RV shipments explosion? Send me an email at [email protected] and we’d be happy to share more information with you.

What’s the difference — really?

The biggest question to ask yourself is what you want out of retirement. If you have strong roots where you currently live, including a large family, grandchildren, volunteer groups, and part- time work, you may want to consider keeping your current home as your permanent residence, regardless of where it is. You may choose a shorter stint in Florida after the holidays to escape the cold or a quick trip north during July and August to beat the heat. Either option you choose, doing so requires you to consider the financial strains of owning or renting two properties, potential missed family time, and complexities of moving to a new region. You will have to make new friends at your part-time home, which can be difficult as we age. You may also have to consider finding seasonal work or learning more about the local culture you move into. It may take time to acclimate, and you have to be willing to put in the effort! Snowbirding and sunbirding can be enjoyable experiences for retirees looking for the best of both worlds. But coming to this decision may not be easy. Sit down with your partner or a trusted loved one to weigh your options. You may find a hybrid option that works for you or discover you’d rather stay put. Or, you just may become a full-fledged bird of snow or sun.

On the surface, snowbirds and sunbirds are about the same. They migrate at similar times and are searching for ideal climates. However, there is a marked difference between the two. Sunbirds tend to live in already warmer climates. Their reason for escaping a permanent residence isn’t so they can beat the cold — it’s to beat the heat! Meanwhile, snowbirds just want to avoid snow, slush, and chilly weather.

So, which one should you become?

Safe travels!

The Origins of Dogecoin HOW A JOKE BECAME A MULTIBILLION DOLLAR CURRENCY MARKET

Would you create an actual cryptocurrency to make fun of other cryptocurrencies? That’s exactly what Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus did, and it’s paid off with an over $70 billion currency market. Now, it’s the fourth-largest cryptocurrency in the world. Dogecoin (symbol: Ð) is a cryptocurrency that provides a payment system (like Bitcoin, another digital currency) that is instant, fun, and free from traditional banking fees. Its playful name and Shiba Inu dog mascot caused the currency to start as a meme, but, as people began to actually purchase it, it became worth more and more. Before Dogecoin, Palmer was a product manager at Adobe Inc.’s office in Sydney, Australia. As a “skeptic-analytic” observer of crypto, he joked on Twitter about creating Dogecoin as a way of satirizing the hype for cryptocurrencies. Surprisingly, people were totally on board. So, he bought the domain name Dogecoin.com. That’s when Markus, a software developer at IBM, contacted Palmer. He wanted to create a digital currency but had trouble promoting his project and decided to jump on the Dogecoin buzz.

He asked Palmer’s permission to build the software to create an actual Dogecoin.

Most cryptocurrencies are fairly serious and sterile in presentation, but Dogecoin was always different. Palmer and Markus decided to market Dogecoin as the “fun” version of Bitcoin. Since Bitcoin had a limited supply while Dogecoin had an unlimited supply, Dogecoin was also faster and more consumer-friendly for new crypto investors. In 2015, Palmer made his departure from Dogecoin, citing the currency’s “toxic community” as a main reason why he left. Dogecoin also had its financial struggles during the 2018 cryptocurrency crash, but today, it’s grown stronger than ever. As of early May 2021, Dogecoin’s price is up more than 13,000% for the year. Even though Dogecoin’s origins are humorous, Palmer and Markus’ business decisions were no joke. If you decide to purchase Dogecoin yourself, whether as a joke or for investing, please do your due diligence to understand the risks of cryptocurrency.

5 New Sports Join the Olympic Roster in Tokyo After a year delay, the Tokyo Olympics are once again gearing up for two weeks of action and excitement. This martial art was developed in Japan in 1868, so it’s only appropriate to make its debut during the Tokyo Olympics. On top of that, the competitions will be held in Nippon Budokan, the site of the very first World Karate Championships in 1970. The Games will test two disciplines: kata (forms) and kumite (sparring). The sport will also be separated into men’s and women’s categories with three weight classes for each. Baseball and Softball These aren’t new sports to the Olympics, but they were removed from the Games after Beijing in 2008. Baseball is hugely popular in Japan. This year, only six countries will take part in the baseball and softball competitions.

GET YOUR TRAIN OF THOUGHT BACK ON TRACK

Repeat, repeat, repeat yourself. Paraphrasing your last few thoughts out loud can help you remember where you were going. Think of it as retracing your steps: You go back to the last words you remember saying, and more often than not, you’ll find your direction again. Take a short pause. Pausing briefly is a great way to make recovering your train of thought seem natural. This hack works really well if you’re answering a question and you need time to think, and you also don’t want to be bogged down by a chorus of “ums” escaping from your mouth. Write it all down. This hack works well when you know beforehand that you’ll be speaking with someone or in front of people. Even if you never refer to your notes while speaking, simply writing down a road map for your train of thought can help you recover from a detour and speak more confidently. Remember your overall point. The easiest way to drive your train of thought into the weeds is to forget your overall point — or not to have an overriding point at all. Always have a short, overarching point you can use to recenter yourself and get back on track. With these hacks, your brain will have to work a lot harder to make you lose your train of thought! Now you’ll be more prepared to tackle any subject matter, no matter how deep or technical, that comes your way.

Have you ever been in the middle of a conversation, presentation, Recovery Hacks or debate, stringing together thoughts in a way you hope is coherent and insightful when — poof! — you lose your train of thought? It’s frustrating. You just want to make yourself understood, but your brain has other plans. What if there were a way to keep your train of thought on track? Well, the good news is that recovering your train of thought is easy with the following hacks in mind.
