JUNIOR MEMBER ORIENTATION BOOKLET

#yourclubyourway

WELCOME TO THE CLUB!

Dear Wilmington Country Club Junior Member,

Welcome to the Club! As a new junior member, there are many activities for you to enjoy at Wilmington Country Club!

This Junior Member Orientation Handbook will provide you with helpful information regarding the facilities, programs, rules and expectations of the Club. Please keep in mind that these rules are set in place to help protect members’ safety and ensure enjoyable experiences for all members. While you become more familiar with your use of Wilmington Country Club, remember that being polite, respectful and using good manners are expected at all times. This handbook contains a summary of the most important beliefs of the Club and supports all of the Club’s Rules and By-Laws. More information can always be gained by reading the Wilmington Country Club By-Laws, Rules and Regulations Handbook or found online at wilmingtoncc.com. GENERAL RULES AND EXPECTATIONS Now that you have turned 10, you have the privilege of enjoying the Club amenities and facilities on your own. But this new independence comes with certain expectations. • Young ladies and gentlemen should conduct themselves as young ladies and gentlemen at all times. • When inside, use inside voices. • Avoid rough play and foul language. • Play fair. • Don’t take things that aren’t yours. • If you make a mistake and something is damaged, it’s always better to tell somebody than try to hide it. • If you make a mess, clean it up. Leaving an area better than you found it shows consideration for the next member.

• You must be dressed properly for each activity. For example, only be on the golf course if you are dressed appropriately and playing golf. The same goes for the racquets areas: be dressed appropriately for playing the sport. • Smoking is not allowed by any member under the age of 18, as defined by State Law. • Members are allowed to jog and/or walk on the golf courses, but must be off the courses by 7am so that the golf courses can be utilized by golfers only. • Members are not permitted, at any time, to use Club ponds or reservoirs for swimming, ice skating or playing. Many are much deeper than they appear and accidents can happen quickly. • Fishing is allowed for members and family guests during daylight hours in the upper reservoir along the service road between the pump house and the barn. Even though you are now 10 and able to visit WCC unattended by an adult, to enjoy fishing you must be accompanied by an adult member until the age of 16. All fishing is catch and release using round (not barbed) hooks. Individuals may not take carts to the fishing area. This activity is at the individual’s own risk. • Sledding and other snow sports are not permitted on Club property as they can damage the greens. We know you are excited and enthusiastic about your membership and we welcome that enthusiasm. Don’t worry if a rule is forgotten; you will be gently reminded of it to ensure your safety and that of others. If rules are forgotten or disregarded more frequently however, your privileges of membership may be impacted.

TREATMENT OF EMPLOYEES We are very lucky to have such wonderful staff to help us enjoy our Club. They are here to help you, keep a safe environment and they deserve your respect at all times. PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES (Cellphones, laptops or tablets) • Your device must be silent at all times. • Your device can only be used for non-verbal communications (texting, emailing, instant messaging, etc.) If you need to make a phone call, please use one of the Club’s house phones and remember to dial 9 for an outside line. • Each area has different rules as it relates to electronic devices. Please follow the rules for those areas. Generally, the more casual the area, the more freedom you have to use your device. SAFETY PROCEDURES • If something bad happens and you need emergency help, go to any employee or pick up any Club phone and dial “0”. A member of staff will help to send the right emergency support team to the right place as quickly as possible. • If lightning is in the area and the siren goes off, you MUST move indoors immediately. A member of staff will let you know as soon as it is safe to go back outside. • Please watch out for traffic, in the parking lots and as you walk • near the main driveway.
