SGS receives license from PEC for CPD (continuous professional development) SGS Pakistan received the license from PEC as Professional Engineering Body to work under “PEC Professional Development of Engineers Byelaws-2008”, to carry out Continuing Professional Development activities to the Registered Engineers (Res) and Professional Engineers (PEs). The license was issued in the month of June this year and is good news for all the technical personnel, who want to pursue with the CPD activities and trainings with SGS Pakistan.
SGS brings “DROPS” (Drop Object Prevention Scheme, UK) to Pakistan SGS Pakistan has recently acquired DROPS (DROP OBJECT PREVENTION SCHEME, UK) Certification for Survey on Land Drilling Rigs, considering the substantial potential and need of the upstream market to prevent hazards associated with falling objects. DROPS is an industry-wide initiative focused on preventing dropped objects, with the goal of delivering a second nature dropped objects prevention strategy across the industry. Within the oil and gas sector, everyone knows the potential cost of a dropped object as It’s not just about equipment damage and lost production. It’s about life!
SGS Pakistan introduces third party inspection in Singapore under SRO-604 Good news for all those who are dealing with solar related equipment in the country, as SGS Pakistan has opened a new region for pre-shipment inspections under SRO-604, which is Singapore. This is an addition to the already existing services in China and Dubai. SRO-604 is a mandatory requirement to import solar equipment in Pakistan, therefore SGS Pakistan has started this service as part of regional expansion to fulfil clients’ inspection needs. As Singapore is a hub of electronics, this comes as good news for the importers who intend to import from the country.
SGS Pakistan announces membership in IADC
SGS Pakistan introduces e-learning solution! TRANSFORMING TRAINING THROUGH DIGITAL LEARNING
SGS Pakistan is glad to announce that it is now a member of the IADC (International Association of Drilling Contractors) FTY 2021 & 2022. EDGE & Green Building Consultancy- yes, every building can be green As the whole world is seeking to follow the green practices and abiding by the green policies. The concept of Green building is now very much known to people worldwide and to Pakistan. Green building is a part of sustainable asset which refers to a structure that is environmentally responsible ensuring resource efficient, while, reducing negative impacts on the human health and environment through-out the building lifecycle. Green building certification is a concise framework for identifying & implementing practical & measurable green building design, construction, operation and maintenance strategies and solution. In addition to green building, EDGE (“Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies”) is yet another innovation in sustainable solution initiated by IFC (member ofWorld Bank Group) which provides market leaders with the opportunity to gain a competitive advantage by differentiating their products and adding value to the lives of their customers.
First in Asia – 12 Members certified in pallet racking safety with SEMA Keeping in mind the greater interest of the storage industry by sharing best practice and improving industry standards, In March this year, 12 members from our lifting inspection services undergone training on pallet racking safety and became the first few members in Asia to be certified as SARI (SEMA approved racking inspector). SARI is one of the variety of accreditations offered by SEMA (Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association). A SARI is considered a ‘Competent Person’ to inspect your storage racks and this accreditation is recognized by the HSE. This is very important because by using a SARI it demonstrates that you have exercised ‘due diligence’ in the selection of your racking inspector. It therefore ensures statutory compliance & is likely to be a requirement for insurance purposes.
The certification mainly focuses on the real estate / construction industries; however, each and every structure / building can be targeted.
Through EDGE, any company can show their commitment on sustainable strategy by reducing energy and water consumption, contributing to reduction in GHG emissions and improving heath and well-being of the employees. This helps enhance and protect ecosystems and biodiversity, conserve natural resources, reduce solid waste, and ensure energy management. After observing it’s tremendous success worldwide, we highly encourage Pakistan’s market to go towards green solutions and to achieve this objective we at SGS Pakistan decided to launch webinars on Green Building – LEED Certification and EDGE Certification in the recent past months which were quiet a success as around 350 plus people showed up in both the webinars together. It was an edifying experience for the audience as they were keen to learn about the subject.

Industrial energy auditing for increased sustainability Energy transition and decarbonatization of industrial processes is the talk of the town and is rapidly being practiced due to climate change. There are options available for industries to choose and prioritize for an effective energy transition. Solar PV, solar thermal, and biomass feedstock are some supply side options to decarbonize the industrial processes. Demand side measures to reduce emissions and utility energy costs include setting and achieving targets by mapping facility’s energy consumption, implementing energy conservation and energy efficiency projects, and by updating the factory’s energy monitoring, targeting, and reporting system. An integrated approach for demand side energy management should be done by providing consultation, energy auditing, capacity building, implementation support for energy projects and monitoring of impacts. Objectives of comprehensive energy audits are to identify and prioritize the energy conservation, energy efficiency and demand management opportunities to meet the company’s sustainability and business competitiveness. Completing an energy audit gives a better picture of energy consumption and identifies opportunities for improvement, often delivering immediate cost savings. Energy audit project includes the technical energy review, on-site inspection & performance assessment of all systems and subsystems followed by a report. All subsystems including electrical systems, electric motors, pumping system, compressed air system, HVAC&R, lighting system, gen sets, cooling tower, boiler, steam network, and process heating system are thoroughly inspected and tested with portable tools. Energy audit report lists the energy saving measures, including required CAPEX, and associated paybacks. Findings are presented in an interactive setup with all stakeholders. Findings of energy audit report helps us to design a customized energy management program for the company to implement the projects of energy conservation, energy efficiency, energy analytics system, optimization of systems and subsystems, and measurement and verification (M&V) of energy savings resulting from capital intensive projects. We help clients in project design and development, project management, M&V of energy savings and training and capacity building of staff to successfully implement the customized energy management program.
