Samir’s Adventure to Iceland!

The past month in March, I had the opportunity of a lifetime to travel to Iceland for a week! Every year, our group of friends fromcollege takes a trip for all of us to get together and catch up. This time, we were really trying to think outside the box, and go somewhere off the beaten path. We had heard nothing but good things about Iceland, and decided to start planning our trek. Let me tell you, I’ve never seen more incredible vistas, mountain views, and snowy wonderlands than I have on this trip. My friends and I got do once in a lifetime activities, such as snowmobiling on top of a glacier, trekking inside of ice caves, whale watching in the Greenland Sea, going to a volcanic ash black sand beach, and witnessing glacier fragments washing up on the frozen shore of the sea.

It was the trip of a lifetime.

Everywhere you looked was like a postcard in and of itself. We had the opportunity to take several day tours around various parts of the island, and braved the elements of winds of up to 80mph (and I thought Chicago was the windy city!). If you are thinking of going, I couldn’t recommend it enough! Winter has it’s own charm there, and so does summer, so make sure you chose your season correctly based on the activities you enjoy doing. And being only a 6 hour flight from Chicago, it’s fairly accessible as well. If you are planning a trip, let me know and I’mhappy to send alongmy recommendations! As for me, my friends and I had more laughs than we can count and had the trip of a lifetime in the most idyllic of destinations.
