SCSS 10 TH Anniversary & our work with the school

Our team headed to the Supply Chain Sustainability School 10 th Anniversary Summit on the 21 st of June, to celebrate their work within the industry. The day highlighted the huge impact that the Schools work is having on both the industry and the people within it. Shaun McCarthy OBE, stated the School has currently trained over 50,000 people from 16,000 organisations with nearly 180 partners. According to Ian Heptonstall, Director - they’re just getting started!

Some key messages we took away from the day:  There needs to be a greater focus on added value , rather than cost.  According to CITB, construction will need 266,000 new workers to meet demand ( Jackie Ducker, CITB ) – therefore training is key to utilise current workers.  2% of site technical roles are filled by women.  Modern Methods of Construction are not the future, they are now.  When it comes to social value, it’s so important to always go the extra mile.

“The day was really insightful to the broader work SCSS are doing within the industry, discussing the key actions and drivers going forward. It was great to catch up with some familiar faces, and network with some new ones. Congratulations to SCSS on their 10 th Birthday, we are delighted to be partnered with the school, and heavily involved in the groups and development activities.“ BBI Services CEO, Mark Worrall

Freeing mindsets: clearing the biggest obstacles to better productivity, efficiency and overall performance

Marc Roberts, COO of BBI Services, discusses why mindset often holds projects and construction professionals back.

Across our sector, there’s a widespread commitment to increasing efficiency, productivity and sustainability. But when it comes to identifying exactly what’s preventing projects and individuals from achieving their full potential, I often find that people are looking in the wrong places. The kind of improvement strategies BBI Services employ, have achieved amazing results in sector-leading businesses around Britain and beyond.

Bringing BBI Services in at the beginning of a project is one of the best things you can do to ensure the team is set up for success, and the project runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Optimising productivity and efficiency is ultimately all about flow. But for organisational processes to flow, our mental ones have to flow too.
