Carolynn and Michael Friedman Presented by The Foundation of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation

One could say that it was bashert (meant to be) that Carolynn and Michael met (Michael’s mother introduced them) and built a beautiful life together that has centered around the importance of family, tzedakah and gratitude. They were both born and raised in Miami – Michael in North Miami Beach and Carolynn in Coral Gables. They were both born on Rosh Hashanah and following each of their births, their fathers attended Temple services while their mothers stayed in

the hospital. They also both adored their fathers, who were each their role models. Leading by example, they were humble men who came from nothing, worked hard, always tried their best and gave back to their community. This became the foundation for how Michael and Carolynn lived and how they raised their children. Long-time members of Temple Beth Am, Judaism played an important role in shaping their family traditions. Michael and Carolynn sent their three children – Jenny, Spencer and

Alexandra – to Jewish Day School. It was such a positive experience, the tradition will continue with Jenny’s son, Levi, and Spencer’s son Harrison Stanley (named after Carolynn and Michael’s fathers) – both born this past year – who are registered to attend Beth Am Day School when they are of age. “Each one of our kids has a strong Jewish identity and raising Jewish children remains a priority for them,” Carolynn said.

For at least the past 20 years, the Friedmans have been steadfast contributors to the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. Through a gift in their will, Michael and Carolynn fully endowed their annual campaign gift, making them both Forever Pacesetters and Carolynn a Forever Lion . They commented, “as ‘forever donors’ to Federation, we hope to make the world a better place for our children and grandchildren. We are blessed that we are in the position

to perpetuate our family legacy of Tikkun Olam. Federation provides hope and a safety net for all Jews who are in need -- in Miami, in Israel and in Jewish communities around the world” . They have come to realize that not many organizations have a wider reach.
