Label Summit Latin America Returns To Santiago Chile is set to host the forthcoming 17th edition of Label Summit Latin America in March 2020, for only the second time.The two-day annual event, which ro- tates between key locations in the region, is a leading educational event supporting the label and package printing industry in Latin America. Taking Aim At Decision Makers Taking place at Santiago’s Espacio Riesco Convention Center from March 10-11, located outside the city center, the Label Summit Latin America is aimed at senior deci- sion makers working within the industry. Avery Dennison Acquires Smartrac’s RFID Business Smartrac Technology Group, RFID technology and IoT specialist, has reached a definitive agreement to sell its RFIDTransponder Division to Avery Dennison, which is seeking expansion of its intelligent label portfolio. Smartrac’s RFID inlay and tags business will com- plement Avery Dennison’s intelligent label platform, expand its existing product portfolio, enhance the company’s R&D,manufacturing and sales capacity and increase its RFID offerings for a variety of customer re- quirements and applications.The transaction will also provide the opportunity to expand market coverage and to accelerate RFID growth opportunities. Transponder Business As part of the transaction, Avery Dennison will ac- quire Smartrac’s Transponder business and associated assets, including all manufacturing, R&D, sales and ad- ministration facilities, and will take over all affected employees.The company will also assume all contrac- tual obligations to employees, customers and suppli- ers.The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.

The Label Art has a sister company, Quadraflex Cor- poration, located in Cortland, New York, co-owned in partnership with the original family in Oakland and with a previous Oakland plant employee. Idealliance Introduces Global ECG Characterization Target Idealliance, the creator of print standards and spec- ifications such as GRACoL, SWOP, and G7, is releasing an Expanded Color Gamut (ECG) characterization tar- get for use in characterizing and calibrating multicolor print processes. The Expanded Color Gamut (ECG) Characterization Target was created by a subcommittee within the Ide- alliance Print Properties and Colorimetric Council as a part of the Idealliance Global ECG project.The Idealli- ance Global ECG is designed to make 7-color process printing as predictable and normal as current CMYK printing specifications such as GRACoL and SWOP. The characterization target will complement a com- prehensive Expanded Color Gamut (ECG) Project Kit, which contains guidelines, proofing control strips, and other tools for print users. The characterization Target is a 7-color test chart, which contains a scalable number of patches, ranging from a single page, up to 4 pages. Most users should be able to achieve acceptable results using the one- or two-page chart.The chart was designed with input from across the industry and is optimized for multi- ple printing processes.The team that has created the test chart included developers from: ColorLogic, Esko, GMG, and Kodak as well as other industry members. Team leaders Hanno Hoffstadt,Thorsten Braun, and William Li worked together and with others to create prototypes and test candidates for a period of two years.
