The accelerating rate of change at a massive scale experienced by societies around the globe and by ecosystems essential to life on our planet increasingly challenge philanthropy to bring about conditions that benefit humanity and increase resilience and sustainability of life. The Future of Philanthropy Forum will convene global stakeholders and philanthropists to share experiences and engage in developing a new role for philanthropy in our changing world. Join other philanthropic leaders and their families as we gather in the beautiful and inspiring setting of Bogani—located in the Maasai Mara of Kenya—to experience, explore and thought-partner with peers to contribute new models for philanthropy and leadership as we work to meet the urgency of the world’s demands for innovation and collective contribution to a better future. The Future of Philanthropy Forum invites you as stakeholder and your guests to share your expertise, to become immersed in a new community, to contribute to a white paper on new strategies for the future of philanthropy, and to make a commitment – as a philanthropist and a family – to a new leadership role in addressing issues of sustainability and inclusive growth and preparing the next generation to face these challenges. THE FUTURE OF PHILANTHROPY YOUTH ITINERARY DECEMBER 27, 2017 – JANUARY 3, 2018

PRE -TR I P WORK Youth participants in the Future of Philanthropy Forum will be sent a pre-trip package via mail, which will include: pre-read materials, suggested media content to review and prompts to write a pre and post trip reflection on their experience. DAY 2 : WELCOME Youth Leadership Welcome Topic: This conversation will provide youth with an overview of the trip agenda and goals. Objective: Youth will become familiar with the trip purpose and activities planned for them and discuss how to make the most of their experience. Youth will feel more prepared and confident to confront any challenges they may face during the trip experience. DAY 3 : EDUCAT I ON Youth Reflection - Taking Risks Topic: This conversation will center on the participants’ first impressions of Kenya, as well as their hopes and fears surrounding the trip. Youth will discuss the challenge and importance of stepping outside of their comfort zones, and share ideas on ways to get the most out of their experience over the following week. Objective: This first group reflection will introduce youth to the process of reflecting on the day’s events and their personal feelings, which will be common throughout the week. It will also provide an opportunity for participants to journal and converse with their peers. Topic: After being fully immersed into the Maasai culture for the past two days, this evening reflection will focus on gaining a better understanding of the similarities and differences of everyday life between cultures and people around the world. Youth will reflect on what they saw and discuss the specific opportunities that are provided – or opportunities that are absent – for people born in differing circumstances. Objective: Youth to begin to understand the scope and impact of global development challenges that pose threats to families around the world and discuss if they have a role or responsibility to address these challenges. DAY 4 : WATER Youth Reflection - Vision

DAY 5 : HEALTH Youth Reflection - Communication

Topic: Participants will reflect on ways to frame communication about their Kenya experience with their peers and community when they arrive back home. Throughout this discussion, participants will practice communication techniques to use while sharing stories about the moments that impacted them most and when speaking about the global issues that impassion them. Objective: The aim is for youth to learn to communicate their ideas in a way that is both empowering to the communities they’ve engaged with in Kenya and will most impact their audience at home. DAY 6 : FOOD Youth Reflection - Action Planning Topic: Having experienced several of the development pillars at this point, planning for the future has just begun! Participants will reflect on their experience and the global challenges that they have discussed throughout the week. They will select one issue that they’d like to address, and design a specific, achievable action plan for how they can personally help in working towards a solution. Participants will think about the resources they’ll need, the people in their network that they can involve, the research they’ll conduct, the challenges they may face, and the indicators of success for their idea. Objective: For youth participants to identify a social issue that they’re passionate about, develop a tangible plan of action post-trip, and to be able to communicate a summary of the objectives and steps in their plan. Participants will participate in dinner with the adults and have time to reflect with their families, including an opportunity for youth to publicly share their plans of action with adult participants. DAY 8 : ENV I RONMENT AND WI LDL I FE Youth Reflection - Celebration On the last day of the trip, families will join together to share and celebrate the most memorable moments of the experience. Additionally, trip facilitators will look ahead with youth participants to identify next steps and follow up support needed to complete their action plans, and discuss the continual journey of being leaders for the future of global development.
