For our Professional Services team, we are looking for motivated and talented people to work with administrative and academic colleagues to serve the College to the highest possible standards and ensure it has the support structures and systems in place to thrive. Working within the Estates and Facilities Department, the Project Manager will lead a diverse range of estate development projects and programmes ensuring that all University capital investment projects deliver value for money, positively enhance the University’s estate and ultimately deliver a positive and consistent experience to students, staff and visitors and support the University’s business of teaching, research and commercial activities. ESTATES AND FACILITIES DEPARTMENT

The Department The goal of Goldsmiths’ Estates and Facilities department is to deliver continuous improvements to our campus and services through a customer-focussed approach. Estates and Facilities provide a wide and varied set of services on campus. From gardening to all M&E and building fabric, cleaning and portering, security to timetabling and room bookings to building new facilities.

The estate affects everyone at Goldsmiths; staff, students and visitors alike are all influenced by the environment around them and it’s our job to make sure the campus is welcoming and fit for purpose.

ROLE DESCRIPTION Responsible to: Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities The delivery and monitoring of cost effective project management and provision that deliver value for money, positively enhance the University’s estate, reduce business risk, comply with legislation and environmental sustainability, deliver a positive and consistent experience to students, staff and visitors and support the University’s business of teaching, research and commercial activities The successful candidate will work as a part of the Estates and Facilities Department to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. He or she will coordinate with other departments within the university to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible. We are looking for a creative and dedicated individual who will fit with our collaborative culture. To support the Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities in delivering the University’s strategic project works objectives and Institutional Plan in relation to the compliance of the University’s Estate. Main duties Budget Responsibility for the monitoring Project revenue budget (circa £3.5 million) and the Long Term ensuring appropriate financial controls ,meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis ensuring management reporting arrangements are in place and that financial resources are managed effectively over the academic year ensure that the standard performance specifications are included in project specifications and maintenance needs arising from new construction and major refurbishment are recognised, recorded and planned for.

Accountability and Responsibility • The development, implementation, monitoring and review of appropriate Long-Term and strategic project plan and lifecycle delivery, within a financial framework, to ensure: the continued suitability of facilities; compliance with legislation; good environmental performance and sustainability. • Providing specialised programme and project management advice to the Senior Managers of programmes and project board Executives to develop a quality conscious CIP Programme and its implementation; • Planning and managing highly complex and specialised programmes and projects within the overall CIP Programme to develop and enhance the range of services and level of care provided by the Trust as a whole to patients; • Report to the Directorate board at predetermined periods or when tolerances are exceeded, otherwise acting autonomously in the execution of the programme or project work. • Management as appropriate of programme and project staff to ensure that Efficiency Savings Programme and their projects deliver enhanced service. • Take responsibility for substantial tender processes in line with the universities procurement process. This will include leading on the drafting and issuing of tender documentation, co-ordinating the process, negotiations with contractors and service providers, key decision making on final selection as well as any subsequent post tender negotiation, trouble- shooting and settlement of final accounts. Negotiate the resolution of complex contractual issues. • Promote and foster close working relationships and collaboration between service delivery teams with the Estates Department to achieve shared objectives and providing advice and support. • Draft Business Cases as required for service developments as part of the CIP programme. Develop operational policies at a directorate or corporate level as required to support Project delivery and progress through the relevant governance structure.

Planningandorganisation Physical Skills; • Preparing and maintaining the programme plan and constituent project plans to execute the strategic direction of the Trust and co-ordinate service and productivity and efficiency improvement activities across it in alignment with resource availability and project dependency, ensuring each programme element: o Is adequately described and documented to include unambiguous statements on what will be delivered; o Is communicated to those who need or wish to know about it; o Has a structure and management organisation around it that will lead to success. • Identifying, evaluating and monitoring risks, and their causes, that may impact upon the programme or constituent projects in accordance with policies and instigate agreed mitigation plans and actions to remove or minimise the impact of those risks; • Monitoring events, both internal and external, that may cause the Project to adjust its programme and ensure programme and project elements are effectively coordinated with each other; • Ensuring that programme projects meet the requirements specified as per the gateway process from project initiation to realisation, maintaining a register for all programme projects of the nature and location of documentation required for audit purposes.

CommunicationandRelationship • Present complex, sensitive or contentious information to key stakeholders, including staff or members of the public on a particular programme of work or the governance process. • Advise the Deputy Director of Estates and Senior Managers on potentially complex, sensitive or contentious issues that may adversely affect the programme or constituent projects or threaten delivery or benefits realisation. • Recommend individual programme and project approach(s) to programme and project boards and apply the appropriate controls as best determined for that programme or project; • Develop communication methods to help reduce barriers to change, understanding motivation issues and using appropriate language to engage with staff in a positive manner.
