THE IMPORTANCE OF FINANCIAL WELLNESS

How Insurance Protects Your Finances

insurance advisor is actually working in your best interests. Some insurance advisors out there are under financial duress, which causes them to take some unethical and unscrupulous actions. They might recommend a policy that is unnecessary or oversell their packages to someone who can’t afford it. Unfortunately, too many insurance advisors don’t work for their clients’ best interests. If your insurance advisor is not explaining everything thoroughly or it doesn’t make sense, you should be cautious.

two more to scrape out the scar tissue. She was healing too fast and her leg was not straightening out. She’s also been in physical therapy three times a week for the past year. Surgeries and physical therapy are incredibly expensive, and our saving grace has been a strong medical insurance plan. It’s not just health insurance, either. Not having dental, auto, and home insurance can completely dismantle your financial situation. If you get into an auto accident with little or no coverage, you can get sued. If your dental plan doesn’t cover a procedure, you will have to pay out of pocket, which can be very expensive. I once had a client who had her house completely paid off and decided to forgo any home insurance. Her house burned down, and she didn’t have the money to rebuild. To put it simply, remaining healthy is not always cheap. I look at it this way: I’m willing to pay a small percentage of my income to keep myself covered in case of an emergency. Insurance isn’t free, but it is a necessity. If you’re in need of insurance or think your current plan isn’t doing enough for you, give our office a call. We would be

of a new year is the perfect time to put together your plans for the future. For many people, this will include making a budget, adjusting insurance policies, and planning trips. Whether you’re planning your dream vacation or creating a budget for the new year, most of your decisions will revolve around money and finances. January is Financial Wellness Month, and it’s the perfect time to take a look at your finances and make any necessary changes to achieve your financial goals. Financial wellness is incredibly important in the world of insurance because our industry aims to protect our clients’ money. Did you know that the No. 1 reason for bankruptcy is medical expenses? If you don’t have the right coverage, you’ll pay way more out of pocket than you should. Additionally, if you don’t have any medical insurance, you are one accident away from financial catastrophe. Everything I do supports my goal to protect and maintain my clients’ financial wellness through assets and net worth. You don’t want to overpay for insurance, so you need to make sure you have the right coverage for your situation. You also need to make sure your

When I first got into the insurance industry during the financial crisis of 2008, I never planned to stay for long. Over time, I began to realize how important the service I provided was because I was aging and spending more money on my own health care. I was having back issues and needed an MRI but saw the price and continually delayed it. We ended up getting a better insurance plan that cost more in monthly premiums but still saved us money in the long run. Additionally, my daughter tore her ACL a couple of years back. She has had three surgeries — one to fix it and

3 Reasons to Get Homeowners Insurance

You hear people talk all the time about health, dental, and auto insurance, but there’s another type of insurance that is incredibly important for anyone who owns a home. Homeowners insurance protects you, your family, and your possessions in case something happens to or in your home. The Insurance Information Institute reported that 1 in 20 insured homes has a claim each year. These claims can be anything from water or weather damage to theft. While many home loan lenders and financiers will require homes to be insured, not all do. People who own their homes outright are not required to have homeowners insurance at all.

If you’re wondering if you need homeowners insurance, here are

Protects You From Liability Claims Nowadays, we can order just about anything online, but what happens if the delivery driver gets injured on your property? If you don’t have homeowners insurance, they could sue you for a hefty sum of money. Homeowners insurance will help pay for medical fees, legal fees, and even lost wages to the injured person depending on the severity of the injury. Protects Your Possessions Homeowners insurance doesn’t just protect the exterior of your home — it also covers everything within. A good policy will cover your personal belongings if they are damaged in a disaster, stolen, or vandalized. It is helpful to keep a running list of your valuables so you can get accurately reimbursed if something does happen.

three reasons why having it is a smart decision. Protects You From Property Damage Our homes are arguably the biggest purchase and investment that we make

in our lives, so wouldn’t you want to do everything in your power to make sure it stays protected? Homeowners insurance protects you from disasters like storms, fire, and even vandalism. If a storm makes your house uninhabitable, your insurance policy may help pay for temporary housing and sometimes living expenses. If you don’t have homeowners insurance and your house is destroyed or damaged, you will have to cover the costs out of pocket.

Don’t Spend Another Year Lonely! 5 Ways to Make New Friends in Retirement

Friendship just might be the fourth secret to longevity, right behind eating well, exercising, and getting plenty of sleep. According to the Mayo Clinic, making friends can reduce stress, improve your self-confidence, and give you purpose in life! People with good friends are also more likely to exercise and less likely to drink to excess. But making friends is tough, especially in your golden years. To finally kick loneliness to the curb in 2022, try these five tips. 1. Get a dog. Adopting a

If you like to quilt, join a quilting group, and if you kayak, look for an outdoors club near you. Facebook is a great resource for finding online hobby groups, too! Just type your interest into the search bar and select “Groups” on the left-hand side of the screen. 3.Volunteer . Volunteering has similar

Also called retirement communities or active adult communities, these neighborhoods are known for their low-maintenance housing, amenities, and group activity options — and they’re all over the U.S. If you want to find friends in your age group to swim and play tennis with, a local real estate agent can help you find them. 5. Become a mentor. Mentorship is a valuable way to form friendships across generations. You can sign up for an existing program in the field you retired from or reach out to a local college or high school career center and offer your services. questioned. Some insurance companies will state that you’re not seriously injured because you waited to see a doctor. In this instance, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Call the police. You need to establish liability, and a police report can go a long way if the other driver does not take responsibility. Without a police report, it is simply your word against the person who hit you. When the police arrive, do not admit fault and don’t speculate on circumstances you do not know for certain. Answer their questions and allow them to document the scene of the crash. You’ll get a police report for your records, but you should send a copy to your insurer. You should also document and take pictures of any evidence that might bolster your claim. Report the accident to your insurance company. It’s essential that you contact your insurance company as soon as you can after the accident. Drivers are required to carry auto insurance in the state of Georgia, and if you’re involved in an accident without insurance, you could face fines, jail time, or a suspended license. Even if you have insurance, the wrong coverage can leave you paying out of pocket. If you need insurance or want better coverage, give our office a call.

Nobody ever leaves their house and plans to get into a car accident, but it happens all the time. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there are 6 million car accidents every year. Of those 6 million accidents, over 40% are rear-end collisions. Because these happen so often, it’s important that you understand what to do if someone crashes into the back of your car. Here are the steps you should take after you’ve been involved in a rear-end accident. See if you’re injured and visit a medical professional. If you’ve been involved in any type of accident, the first thing you should do is to make sure you and everyone else in your car are okay. Even if everyone appears to be okay, you should seek medical treatment. There are some injuries like whiplash that aren’t obvious for days or even weeks after an accident. If you wait, your claim for compensation could be

January is National Hobby Month, and since it falls at the beginning of the year, it’s the perfect time to try something new! Hobbies add variety to your life and ensure you aren’t just living to work, so to speak. The best way to find a hobby you enjoy is to be open to new things. Whether it’s gardening, reading, drawing, running, fishing, crafting, or even beekeeping, finding an activity you enjoy is important. Here’s why! HOBBIES ARE STRESS RELIEVERS. Hobbies offer a healthy escape from your busy lifestyle by keeping you engaged in something you find pleasure in. Instead of just relaxing on the couch and turning off your mind for a bit (which is totally acceptable sometimes), hobbies allow you to remain mentally productive while winding down at the same time. HOBBIES ALSO PROVIDE EUSTRESS. Believe it or not, one type of stress is deemed beneficial: eustress. If you aren’t overly stressed and are feeling a little under-stimulated, a hobby can provide activity for both your mind and body to keep you feeling excited about life and ready to take on new challenges and adventures. The Importance of Having a Hobby SKILLS THAT ENRICH US

HOBBIES OFFER A SOCIAL OUTLET. Some hobbies involve group activities, such as bowling, sports teams, book clubs, and even wine tasting. Connecting with others offers the social support humans depend on to lead a healthy and fruitful life. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find some great friends who share the same passions as you! HOBBIES DEVELOP PATIENCE. When you take on a new hobby, you are tasked with learning something new. Whether you’re practicing a new instrument, learning a different language, or figuring out how to make jewelry, a learning curve is involved. Building new skills takes patience, a very important attribute for success. Finding a hobby that suits you may take some exploration and trial and error, but it is all in good fun! Make it your goal to try something new or learn a new skill each month until you find something that sticks. Once you do, you’re sure to find that hobbies are both enjoyable and enriching!
