Medical Imaging opens its doors The newMedical Imaging Department at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital has opened boasting the latest scanning and imaging technology, including an MRI for the first time in the hospital’s history. Hornsby MP, Matt Kean, and Ku-ring-gai MP, Alister Henskens, officially opened the department which is now almost double the size of the former unit. Staff are excited to care for patients in the new department which also has a SPECT - a nuclear imaging scan that integrates computed tomography (CT) and a radioactive tracer scanner, newCTs, ultrasounds and x-rays. The local community will also benefit from a new orthopantogram (OPG) which allows for dental xrays and a fluoroscopy unit which is used widely for stroke patients to review speech and swallowing. The $265 million redevelopment of the hospital is progressing well with works continuing on the newClinical Services Building. STAGE 2 REDEVELOPMENT CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

The construction of the Clinical Services Building is progressing well. A variety of work is underway including preparation for the installation of building services, partitioning of rooms, fit out and façade works. Separate to the new Clinical Services Building, the removal of the former Medical Imaging building continues and the demolition of the corridor between the

Emergency Dpeartment (ED) and cafe is now complete. This area will be home to the new ED expansion and hospital main entrance.
