DISCOVER YOUR PURPOSE CAST YOUR VISION

A worksheet to guide your thinking through creating a purpose statement and vision snapshots

PURPOSE pur·pose is - the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.

Purpose has the power to be an inspiring, clarifying, powerful instruction from God for you and your work. You are uniquely gifted to realize this purpose. Discovery of your purpose empowers you to be clear and focused on what you should do and howwe all can bring about the Kingdom on earth.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Discovering your purpose is a life long process that comes from listening to God’s direction to you over a period of time and paying attention to His instructions to you for your life. Let’s discover and/or affirm your purpose as of today.

This Purpose Discovery Tool is provided by:

You are gifted! Knowing your Gifts

These are things that just come natural to you – sometimes with little effort. They likely are things that others have mentioned that you just do really well. List 1 – 3 items that immediately come to mind.

2 What are your passions? Psalm 37:4 “Take delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” What do you love doing so much you lose track of time when you’re doing it? List 1 – 3 items that come to mind.

3 What motivates you? 1 Corinthians 3:14 “If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward.” Motivation is defined as “that which moves one toward an action; that which changes, provokes, or impels our very being.” What rewards most motivate you? What fuels you to do the most work? What heart desires has God used to encourage you?

Now that we knowyour gifts, let’s discover your Purpose

Nowwe have all the pieces to draft your purpose statement. Using your responses, craft a statement that expresses the work God is calling you to do. Use the words that are most inspire you. Think about a calling that you can spend your life working to realize. Don’t worry if it doesn’t feel perfect now. You’ll have time to change it and make it better.

Vision

Write the Vision, Make It Plain Habakkuk 2:2 “And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.” If purpose is the work you’re called to do, vision is what you’ll see once you’ve done it. Let’s cast your visions.
