BEHIND THE SMILES: I Wanted My Life Back Jones & Copeland Smiles Made That Possible

Typically, I’ve never been the one who would go to the dentist. I grew up in the ‘70s, and my parents were young. They didn’t have dental insurance or the forethought of how vital oral health is. I used to be able to count on both of my hands how many times I’d gone to the dentist. I never remembered having a bad experience at the dentist. I was just scared in general to be there because I was embarrassed. Everything changed once I met the amazing team at Jones & Copeland Smiles. They turned my whole life around, and I can’t thank them enough for what they have done for me. I’m not afraid to go to the dentist anymore because of the love and support they showed me. I was coming out of a bad place when I came in for my first appointment. My father had passed away, I was also going through a divorce, and dealing with addiction. This was a tough spot for me mentally and physically, and I wanted to change. I wanted to return to the person I was before — happy, confident, and full of life. Before seeing Drs. Copeland and Jones, I never left the house. It was embarrassing, and I felt like people always stared at me and judged me. I wouldn’t get a job or socialize because of my teeth and smile. To me, working was always fun because I enjoy making others laugh and smile. These struggles showed me that I wanted to get back to living my life. At the time I thought I wanted to remove all of my teeth and get dentures. I didn’t know where to go for this procedure. But all of that changed when I checked my mailbox.

I can’t thank Dr. Jones and Dr. Copeland enough for what they’ve done for me. They helped me get my life back, and I don’t know how I would ever repay them for that.”

... CONTINUED FROM COVER

There was a brochure from Jones & Copeland Smiles, and it felt like fate was calling me to them. They seemed like the perfect experts to help me. So I called them and set up a time for my examination. When I got there, I told myself that I would be 100% honest with Dr. Jones and Dr. Copeland. In rehab, I learned that the best way to overcome my past is to share my experience and story. It’s not something I’m proud of, but I’m a survivor. When I told Dr. Copeland my story, she and the entire staff were supportive and nonjudgmental. Their primary focus was entirely on helping me. You have no idea how much it meant to me to have their support. When I told them what I wanted to get done, they were happy to do that for me. But they told me that in their experience, having dentures will affect my confidence because, for my age, dentures would have limitations now and in the future. They suggested that I have a teeth cleaning and add implants and veneers instead. I knew they wanted what was best for me and had pure intentions, so I agreed to their suggestion. The process was seamless, and I was only tender for a couple of days after. Dr. Copeland called me regularly after the appointment to see if I was okay. I love how dedicated and caring everyone is. They ensured that I was comfortable — now, they are a part of my family.

several people compliment my smile since getting my procedure done. It feels like I’m getting back to who I used to be, and I love every minute of it. If it weren’t for Jones & Copeland Smiles, none of this would be possible. I now show off my teeth proudly, and I can’t thank Dr. Jones and Dr. Copeland enough for what they’ve done for me. They helped me get my life back, and I don’t know how I would ever repay them for that. Dr. Jones and Dr. Copeland, thank you both from the bottom of my heart. You have done wonders for my life, and I can genuinely say that I am happier than I’ve ever been. I would also like to thank my mother for being my best friend and always having my back. I would’ve fallen apart if it wasn’t for my mother and the incredible support that the staff at Jones & Copeland Smiles has shown me. For anyone thinking about a new smile, Dr. Jones & Copeland will treat you like family and will do anything to make you happy, comfortable, and confident. Going to see them was the best decision I ever made, and I’m so happy fate brought us together.

Recyclable Toothpaste Tubes Are Finally Here!

BIG NEWS FROM COLGATE

For years, toothpaste tubes have been the bane of people trying to live more sustainably. They’re usually made from mixed materials and aren’t recyclable in most places. Luckily, Colgate was listening to the green community’s complaints. After five years of research and development, the company has redesigned their tubes to be recyclable in curbside bins! According to Fast Company, the new tubes appeared this March spanning four different Colgate lines. “The company expects every single tube in its portfolio to be recyclable in the United States in 2023 and globally in 2025,” the news outlet reported. Considering Colgate controls almost 35% of the American toothpaste market, this is a big move toward sustainability! You don’t even need to wash out the tube before recycling it. Just squeeze out as much paste as you can and toss the leftover tube and cap into your recycling bin. If you want to try one, look for Colgate tubes marked with “Recycle Me!” just under the logo. Of course, buying these new tubes isn’t the only option for sustainable teeth cleaning. Environmental activists have relied on other alternatives for years, like metal toothpaste tubes from small brands like Davids (Davids- USA.com); zero-waste tooth tabs from outlets like Lush (LushUSA.com),

by Humankind (ByHumankind.com), and Bite (BiteToothpasteBits.com); and toothbrushes made out of recycled yogurt cups (Preserve.eco). A few recycling programs like TerraCycle allow you to mail in toothpaste tubes, caps, and even toothbrushes and floss containers. (Before developing its recyclable tubes, Colgate partnered with TerraCycle on a free “Oral Care Recycling Program.”) The trouble with these alternatives is that they’re often difficult to find, time consuming to execute, and/or more expensive than name-brand toothpaste. Colgate’s new initiative will make (relatively) planet- friendly toothpaste available for millions of people who might not have had access to green options otherwise. The brand is also sharing its technology with other toothpaste makers for free. Pretty cool, right?
