Same Building, Larger Office We’ve Moved!

new year is often a fresh start for people to make new goals and resolutions, but it also brings new challenges. My law firm and I have made huge transitions at the end of 2021 to help us further reach our goals in 2022. By

reviewing 2021 and then looking into the future for the new year, I can see several leaps my firm has made in order to be where we are today. One of the biggest challenges we took on this year was weathering the lingering COVID-19 storm. Despite jury trials being backed up, we still had an uptick in business and a demand for our services. My amazing staff helped me navigate these unchartered waters and deliver stellar service to our clients. Speaking of better serving our clients, I am happy to announce that we have expanded our firm and moved into a new space! As you’re reading this, we’ve already made this transition! We made the announcement on Dec. 1, and the initial move went seamlessly. We were able to get everything done in a day, and (knock on wood) we even got all the technical equipment switched with relative ease. Initially, we planned for the move to happen sooner, but there’s a lot of “moving parts” literally in such a big transition. We knew we wanted to stay in our current office building, so we had to wait for a larger space to become available. Once a space freed up, there were negotiations about when the existing tenant would move out, when we could begin moving our equipment in, and when we could take over the lease. It was set for Oct.1, but things happened, and we weren’t able to move in until December. That left me two weeks to get the logistics figured out for the move, but with the help of my team, we got it done.

Another reason we moved spaces is to meet our goal of expanding our team. This move would’ve happened sooner, but it’s been very difficult to hire people. With the pandemic, the talent pool is shrinking and there’s more demand. According to Forbes, it has become incredibly difficult for many industries to find strong candidates. Since the beginning of the pandemic,

experts have tried to prepare companies for “the great resignation” or the “turnover tsunami,” striving to help them adjust to the labor shortage Many people are accepting remote work because of the flexibility it offers. Another reason people are leaving the workforce is

because of child care and health issues. Parents need to be home with their kids during this time and look after their family first.

Despite these challenges, we’ve added a new receptionist, Martaluz, who will be our intake coordinator as well. Our staff is now in an excellent place, and I couldn’t be happier with that while moving into 2022. As we add new faces, our strong team gives me the confidence that we will continue to serve our clients in the best way as we expand.

The Importance of Having a Hobby Skills That Enrich Us

Hobbies also provide eustress. Believe it or not, one type of stress is deemed beneficial: eustress. If you aren’t overly stressed and are feeling a little under- stimulated, a hobby can provide activity for both your mind and body to keep you feeling excited about life and ready to take on new challenges and adventures. Hobbies offer a social outlet. Some hobbies involve group activities, such as bowling, sports teams, book clubs, and even wine tasting. Connecting with others offers the social support humans depend on to lead a healthy and fruitful life. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find some great friends who share the same passions as you!

Hobbies develop patience. When you take on a new hobby, you are tasked with learning something new. Whether you’re practicing a new instrument, learning a different language, or figuring out how to make jewelry, a learning curve is involved. Building new skills takes patience, a very important attribute for success. Finding a hobby that suits you may take some exploration and trial and error, but it is all in good fun! Make it your goal to try something new or learn a new skill each month until you find something that sticks. Once you do, you’re sure to find that hobbies are both enjoyable and enriching!

January is National Hobby Month, and since it falls at the beginning of the year, it’s the perfect time to try something new! Hobbies add variety to your life and ensure you aren’t just living to work, so to speak. The best way to find a hobby you enjoy is to be open to new things. Whether it’s gardening, reading, drawing, running, fishing, crafting, or even beekeeping, finding an activity you enjoy is important. Here’s why! Hobbies are stress relievers. Hobbies offer a healthy escape from your busy lifestyle by keeping you engaged in something you find pleasure in. Instead of just relaxing on the couch and turning off your mind for a bit (which is totally acceptable sometimes), hobbies allow you to remain mentally productive while winding down at the same time.

BAIL BONDS 101

defendant misses any of their appointments or is late. This can include being late because someone reassigned the courtroom without telling you — or for even going to the bathroom at the wrong time. Some judges can go easy on these mistakes, but others are strict.

for a bail bond, or pay the bail in full. A bond agent is an individual who will provide a surety bond that pays for the defendant to be released from jail until their court date. They also agree to ensure that the defendant will appear on all of their court dates. The agency or corporation you’re getting your bail bond from can charge up to 10% of the bail amount upfront for their services and charge any additional fees. You’re entitled to bail unless you were charged with a crime that carries a life sentence or violated your probation.

COLLATERAL CAN BE USED AS BAIL MONEY.

If you’re having trouble collecting money to reach the bail amount, you can use some of your personal items as collateral, such as your house, land, jewelry, and even cars. This can be viewed as a type of credit or a loan to ensure the person appears in court. However, make sure to consult your attorney before jumping to these measures. If you have a loved one in jail awaiting bail, allow your friends at the Law Office of Matthew Konecky to help! We can assist you in asking the court to reduce the amount of bail or release them on their own recognizance. Please give us a call at 561.671.5995.

When someone is arrested, bail is set with the amount of money in order to get them out of jail. In Florida, bail is determined by the crime that has been committed. If the bail is too high, you can find yourself searching for bail bonds. But what exactly is a bail bond, and what does it include?

CASH BAIL ISN’T ALWAYS THE BEST IDEA.

If you use cash to pay for someone’s bail, you’re trusting that they will go to their court hearings and complete all of their obligations. Your bail will be forfeited if the

Why Do Your Ears Pop on Flights?

Airplane Ears The Science Behind Your Ears Popping on Flights

When it comes to flying on an airplane, you can avoid cramped legs by upgrading to first class or catch a view by picking the window seat. However, there’s no getting around your ears popping during takeoff and landing. Believe it or not, there is a scientific explanation behind this common annoyance. As you read this, you’re likely not on an airplane, and the air pressure on either side of your eardrums is equal. Air is currently passing right on through your eustachian tube, a narrow passage that leads from your middle ear cavity to your pharynx and allows for pressure to be equalized on each side of your eardrums. When you’re in flight on an airplane, air pressure is not equal. During both ascent and descent, your eardrums stretch to try to adapt to the changes. In order to equalize the pressure, your eustachian tube needs to open and close. When it does, your ears pop!

Usually, the ear popping is irritating but nothing more. However, in rare cases, the pressure can lead to ear pain and even loss in hearing, especially if your ears don’t pop. In this case, you may need to make an effort to get your eustachian tube to open by yawning, talking, or swallowing. Sucking on a piece of candy, swallowing some water, or chewing gum may also help! One of the best things you can do is make sure you are not sleeping as the airplane takes off or lands because your eustachian tube isn’t able to open and close normally. If you commonly struggle with congestion or sore ears on flights, taking a nasal decongestant before you board may ensure that your eustachian tube is not blocked. If your hearing and ears do not return to normal shortly after the flight, be sure to schedule an appointment to see your health care professional as soon as possible.
