Written Goals and Resolve— a Combination for Success

A MESSAGE FROM CEO FRANK VANDERSLOOT

stepping-stones. They are alive! They make life happen! They have faith in themselves. And when they fail, they don’t stay down, they get back up and try again. They learn from their failures. When they experience failure, rather than becoming discouraged, they see value in the experience. They use those lessons to move them one step closer to their success. And then there are others who are less determined, who get excited about their goals at first, but then let their intensity slack off. Maybe they never wrote down their goals. Maybe they realized just how hard it would be to reach their goals. Maybe they had a life event distract them, or they faced unexpected challenges. No matter what challenges or successes we had last year, we can complete this year with a sense of accomplishment and celebration by resolving now to reach our goals. That’s the beauty of starting a new year! You get a fresh start! This is a great time

Throughout the years, it’s been interesting to witness how goals have contributed to the success of many individuals. It’s thrilling to see how determined some people are in reaching their goals. Their determination is evident in their daily activities—they hardly ever let a day go by when they

We just experienced the most successful year in our history right here in the US and Canada! We are thrilled to see so many families prospering, both in terms of health and financial security, because they use Melaleuca products. The more they use and share the products, the more wellness they create! The New Year has just begun, and we anticipate that more and more families will find real wellness this year. This is so exciting to me! They can have the balance of the wellness they’ve always wanted because someone shared Melaleuca products with them. Whether their goals are related to weight loss, physical health, debt, family togetherness, or intellectual growth, in some way Melaleuca can help them reach their goals. The TeamMelaleuca rowing club will help thousands reach their wellness goals this year. The Fast Track announced at Launch will be the catalyst to enhancing the lives of tens of thousands of families across North America this year alone.

The first step in making 2021 the best year you’ve ever had is setting and writing down your goals.

aren’t doing something to reach a goal. They have their goals written down. They have a plan. They know that although there are many things happening around them that they cannot control, they can control how they react to those things. They change stumbling blocks into

stay resolved. Now it’s up to you! Don’t let everyday inconveniences become challenges that turn into roadblocks. Don’t let your mind start saying, “I can’t,” before you’ve given it a 110% effort. Stay resolved! Reach your goals! Make 2021 the best year you’ve ever had! Sincerely,

have written goals and a granite resolve. You have products, like the Peak Performance Pack , Renew ®, MelaPower ®, ProvexCV ®, Replenex , Sol-U-Mel ®, the Acces s® Bar , and Sol-U-Guard Botanical ®, that will help you reach your potential. You have the ability to share those products with others, creating a potential for financial opportunities. And you can find the support you need, whether from family, friends, or teammembers who will hold you accountable and help you

for new goals, new focus, and a stronger resolve. It’s wonderful to think that a fresh new year is in front of us, and we can make it the best ever! The first step in making 2021 the best year you’ve ever had is setting and writing down your goals. If it has been a while since you sat down and wrote out what is important for you to accomplish in life, we would encourage you to go through that process. Those who just kind of dream about their goals but never write them down don’t seem to end up in the same place as those who write them down. It has something to do with making a specific recorded promise to yourself. If you do not make a record of your goals, they are much more likely to end up only as dreams, which are easily forgotten over time. I do not fully understand all the reasons why some people take the time to establish specific written goals and others do not. What is clear is that those with clearly established goals end up at a totally different place than those without written goals. Once you’ve written down your goals, let Melaleuca help you achieve them. Melaleuca establishes a way for anyone who has a goal of a better life to achieve that goal. Yes, anyone! Melaleuca puts success within the grasp of anyone who wants it. We do not pretend to know what your goals ought to be, but whatever they are, we want to help you reach them. I know that you can reach your full potential this year if you

Overcoming Magical Thinking through Grit and Hard Work Expectations are funny things. Generally, they are the result of interpreting experiences that occurred in early development. For example, a parent prepares a warm breakfast for their child every morning. The child enjoys the warm breakfasts and learns to associate a warm breakfast with happiness, love, and contentment. But what happens if circumstances change and the warm breakfasts stop? The child may still sit at the kitchen table expecting their warm breakfast. When it doesn’t come according to the child’s expectations, feelings of hurt, frustration, and even anger and resentment may develop.

best of us? For example, feeling frustrated when a business doesn’t grow rapidly, despite only working on it one or two days a week. Or getting upset when a car breaks down without ever performing its scheduled maintenance. After all, aren’t these examples of trying to will something into existence without making the needed effort? The year 2020 provided new Corporate Directors 3 Kim and Art McCauley plenty of opportunities to fall for the allures of magical thinking. Like many of us, their year didn’t go quite how they envisioned it. But instead of getting frustrated by unfulfilled expectations, Kim and Art worked hard and made 2020 a year unlike any other. Just a few of the highlights for the McCauleys include that they added three beautiful, new daughters to their family, they purchased their dream home to welcome their girls—and the rest of their family—into, they had an amazing year of business growth as they advanced to Corporate Director 3, and they earned Melaleuca’s Marketing Executives of the Year. Kim summarizes it best: “As hard as 2020 has been for me—and I’ve said this over and over—2020 has given me so much more than it’s taken from me.” And it’s because of her hard work, consistency, and determination. Alina 1 In December of 2018, Kim and Art hosted a young orphan from Ukraine named Alina. Alina came so she could have an opportunity to be with a family for Christmas. It was supposed to be a 30-day stay. However, when Kim first met Alina, that 30- day expectation had to be adjusted. “I met Alina for the first time at the LAX airport,” Kim recalls. “She didn’t speak any English, and I don’t speak any Ukrainian or Russian. But the minute she came down the escalator, I just felt this need to protect her. She just looked so scared. “I took her back to the hotel in LA, and then we drove back home to Sacramento the next day. Within two or three days of her being in our home, Art and I were talking about adopting her. She stayed with us for a month, and then we had to send her back to Ukraine, which was one of the hardest things we’ve ever done. We quickly realized that since there is so much red tape in California with adopting, we had to move. We had already wanted to move to Idaho. So we sent Alina back to Ukraine in January of 2019, and in February we packed up and moved all our stuff to a rental in Idaho. This was also in the middle of the 2019 company-wide Fast Track.” When they arrived in Idaho, Kim and Art immediately began the adoption process. That summer they were able to host Alina again. As with the first experience, expectations were about to change dramatically.

Famed developmental psychologist Jean Piaget noted that children often have a hard time distinguishing between the subjective worlds in their heads and the objective world that is outside of them. Accordingly, Piaget claims that children sometimes begin to believe that their thoughts can directly cause things to happen. In our opening example, the child may come to believe that they can simply will their warm breakfast onto the table. Piaget calls this “magical thinking” and suggests that most children outgrow it by age seven or eight. But is Piaget wrong? Don’t we all indulge in a little magical thinking once in a while? Most adults

Kim recalls, “She didn’t speak any English, and I don’t speak any Ukrainian or Russian. But the minute she came down the escalator, I just felt this need to protect her.”

understand that it’s ludicrous to try to think a warm breakfast into existence. Clearly there are steps that need to be taken in order to enjoy the breakfast—eggs that need to be cracked, coffee that needs to be brewed, etc. Yet how many times might Piaget’s magical thinking still get the

Alina 2 In the Ukrainian orphanage system, if a child turns 16 without being adopted, they are removed from the orphanage and left to fend for themselves. So when Kim and Art found out that the Alina they were in the process of adopting had a best friend, also named Alina, who was about to age out of the system, they felt they had to do something. “We asked if the other Alina wanted to be adopted too,” Kim says. “Both girls were so excited! And so we started completing all the paperwork for the second Alina, who we call Alina 2.” Flooring, a Dossier, and Baby June For the next several months, Kim and Art worked with their Ukrainian facilitation team to complete the Alinas’ adoptions. During this process, Kim became pregnant. Fast forward to January of 2020. “We were missing Alina and had never met Alina 2,” Kim says. We wanted to go meet her. I don’t know what I was thinking. I was about eight months pregnant when I attended Melaleuca’s January 2020 Launch. The next day, Art and I flew to Ukraine for a week to see Alina 1 and meet Alina 2.” When they returned, they purchased their new home. The home needed new flooring on the main level. So Kim and Art moved into the upstairs while they waited for the floors to be completed. “At this point, I’m nine months pregnant, planning a home birth, and have no floors and no internet,” Kim says. “We had just submitted our adoption dossier, and it was literally mid-flight to Ukraine when we received the notification that Ukraine had shut down due to COVID-19 and, as a result, was no longer accepting adoption dossiers. I was devastated.” According to Ukrainian adoption law, all adoption documents expire after six months. With moving, the endless adoption paperwork, the home study, and Ukraine not accepting new dossiers, Kim and Art’s fingerprint documents were set to expire. “I’m now 40 weeks pregnant and could go into labor at any minute,” Kim recalls. “And now we find out that we have to drive to Washington state to redo our fingerprints. We got them done, and the next day Washington state locked down with stay-at-home orders due to the coronavirus.” Kim and Art returned home to northern Idaho safely and had to adjust their expectations yet again when Kim was told that the team she had assembled for her home birth all quit—all due to the pandemic. “I had this beautiful vision of what my home birth was going to look like, and that was not what it looked like,” Kim says. They still

had no floors and now no birth team. In the midst of these challenges along with those that come with running a business as large as Kim’s, it would have been easy for her and Art to indulge in some magical thinking. But that’s not who they are. The Phone Call Baby June ended up being a couple weeks late for her delivery. But that worked out well because it gave Kim and Art a chance to get their flooring done and arrange to have Kim’s best friend, Executive Director 9 Shawna Lambert, at the house to help with the kids. Things were going pretty well. Ukraine was only supposed to be shut down for 30 days, and then Art could go and complete the adoptions. However, those expectations were again shattered when after a month there was no word about Ukraine opening. Two months later, nothing. Three months, nothing. Four months, and still no word. Finally, more than five months later, Art received a call asking if he could travel to Ukraine in two weeks. He left on August 20 for what was supposed to be a two-and-a-half-week trip. Three days after his arrival, Ukraine shut down again. Kim and Art had a decision to make. Art could complete what he could during his stay and then return home hoping he could get back when he needed to, or he could hunker down and stay in Ukraine until his daughters were officially his. It wasn’t a hard question for them. “We’d already hit so many roadblocks and so many restarts,” Art explains. “And whenever there is a delay, documents expire. So we decided that since I was there, I would stay there, no matter how long it took. I knew we could push through—and we weren’t leaving that country without our kids.”

JANUARY 2021 | MELALEUCA.COM 11

The Power of Grit Kim developed a sort of mantra while Art was gone and she was managing her family and business at home. “Those times when I felt like I was going to sit down and cry,” Kim says, “when I had one baby on my hip and another crying at my feet, I would just tell myself, ‘We’re going to get through this. We’re just going through a hard time, and we’re going to get through it.’” Her ability to adopt such a mindset didn’t develop overnight. It was built upon years of not succumbing to magical thinking and not allowing herself to get overwhelmed when life didn’t go as planned. Simply said, her strength was built on years of grit. “Grit has played a huge role in everything we’ve done with our business, our lives, and our adoption story,” Kim explains. “I realized how important grit is in life after reading a book titled Grit by Angela Duckworth. In the book, she travels the world interviewing successful people trying to find what makes them so successful. She concludes that it doesn’t matter where you came from. It doesn’t matter what family you were born to or what you’ve been given or how much money you have. Those are not the things that make a person successful. What makes someone successful is how much grit they have. “I did not come from a rich family. I came from a family where my dad had to work three jobs to provide for his family. My husband got his degree on the GI Bill through the Air Force and was dirt poor growing up. We are not the type of people who own and run a successful business. That doesn’t happen to people like us—except it did. And the reason why is because we have grit. We are the perfect examples of how you don’t need opportunities given to you. You just need to work hard. And this is one of the reasons Melaleuca is so beautiful—it’s not just based off your skill, but off your willingness to work hard.” And just as there are no better examples of not needing opportunities given in order to be successful, there are no better examples of grit, hard work, and determination than Kim and Art McCauley.

“It was rough,” Kim states simply. “Probably the toughest three months of my life. It was about two weeks after Art had left and we decided he would stay in Ukraine, and I was having a very, very hard time. I was so stressed, so overwhelmed, and just exhausted with the adoption challenges, Art being gone, our new baby, our new house, running my business, and my team that I still needed to show up for, not to mention the added concerns that COVID-19 brought. But then I received a call from

“Grit has played a huge role in everything we’ve done with our business, our lives, and our adoption story,” Kim says.

Darrin Johnson. He said a lot of things in that call, but the one I remember most is that he said, ‘Kim, if you’re doing your best, that’s all anybody can ask of you. And if each day you can go to bed knowing you did your best, then that’s all that matters. No one knows what your best is but you. So just do your best.’” That phone call helped prevent Kim from getting caught up wishing things in her life were different. It helped her modify her expectations and changed how she approached the coming months while Art was away.

Rolling with the Punches

While it may be easy to get lured into thinking that Kim and Art are the lucky ones or that they have some secret to their success they aren’t sharing, that is just magical thinking. Kim and Art have had their share of frustrations and unmet expectations.

were different, better. They never backed down. And things have turned out really well for them. “It all ended up working out perfectly,” Kim explains. “Art and the Alinas got home on November 2. My birthday was the seventh. We were announced as new Corporate Directors on the ninth. I hit this major goal that I’ve been working for all year, my family is all under one roof, everybody is happy and healthy, and I have a thriving Melaleuca business. It just feels like everything came full circle. So no matter how crazy things are in your life, you just have to keep pushing through those hard times and everything will work out. Everything settles.” It has been said that adversity introduces us to ourselves. This past year Kim and Art have been introduced to themselves over and over. And now, we proudly introduce them to you and invite you to join us in congratulating them on becoming Melaleuca’s newest Corporate Directors 3.

“Sometimes you have an expectation that you’re going to hit a goal and you don’t,” Kim says. “And we see a lot of people give up over things like that. But you can’t give up just because your expectations weren’t met. I like to use the example of a meme I saw that showed two guys digging. They are both just digging, digging, digging. And the one guy, he finally gets sick of it and quits. But the second guy, he digs just two inches further and finds his gold. That’s grit. That’s consistency. That’s success. And sometimes you just have to learn to roll with the punches.” Everything Settles Despite the many challenges they have faced, Kim and Art never gave in to Piaget’s magical thinking. They never quit because things didn’t go their way. They never got mired in negativity, wishing things

Brandon & Ashley Olive TEXAS A Focus on Paying It Forward

When Ashley Olive set her goals for 2020, she had something unique in mind. Not only did she hope to advance to Corporate Director, but she hoped she could help three very close friends change their lives. So she included them in her daily prayers—asking for a way to show them howMelaleuca could change their lives. Though they all told Ashley no at first, she continued to develop their friendships until they were ready to hear about Melaleuca. Today, all three women have seen incredible success in their businesses. The first friend now has the Car Bonus to help pay for her

car, and she used her supplemental income to help pay for her wedding. The second friend is now Ashley’s newest Senior Director, and she’s excited to now qualify for the Car Bonus. And despite the challenge of recently losing a family member, the third friend just advanced to Executive Director 3. These women are just a few among hundreds of Members Ashley’s team enrolled this year who have changed their lives with the help of Melaleuca—and they are all a testament to Ashley’s dedication to enhancing the lives of others. In fact, surpassing her personal

goal of advancing to Corporate Director to become a Corporate Director 3 has made

her more determined than ever to pay her success forward. As she creates her vision boards and sets new goals for 2021, she hopes to see more and more business builders advance, lead others, and ultimately change their lives.

“We’ve explained to them that there are people who have trusted mom with important things in their lives,” Ashley says. “And so I have to make sure I can be there for them. My kids understand why mommy spends time doing video calls. They know there are sacrifices, and just like they work hard in our backyard on their pitching skills to get better, I have to do what I do to make things better for our family and others. I have absolutely loved the journey we’ve been on to teach them why it’s so important to work hard for what you have.” Focus on the Future As she helps others succeed, Ashley often reflects on all the ways that Melaleuca has changed her family and helped her meet her goals. She’s especially grateful for Melaleuca’s focus on living a debt-free lifestyle and the guidance she’s received about using her money to pay down debt and plan for her future. Recently, she and her husband Brandon started investment accounts for each of their four children to start their college savings. They are working on paying off their mortgage. And because they believe that when much is given, much is required, they also have found ways to help their family and community financially. As they see a more-secure financial future ahead of them, the Olives also remember to have fun! Just a few weeks ago, they used some of their extra income to fulfill their dream of staying in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Next summer they plan on taking a trip to upstate New York to visit Ashley’s extended family. No matter what Ashley accomplishes next year, she hopes to see many others succeeding with her. She’s starting the new year by choosing three more people to pray for. “I can’t wait for my people to accomplish their bring-you-to-your knees goal,” she says. “That’s what 2021 is going to be about.”

Teach the Simple Principles How does Ashley plan to maintain her team’s growth? By continuing to practice the principles she learned as an 8th grade math teacher: keep things simple, make them duplicable, and adjust to the needs of others. “I really enjoy being able to help other people,” Ashley says. “I feel like that piece of my heart is always fulfilled when I can help someone reach their goal or understand something better. I have enjoyed being able to take that part of my education background and apply it to the knowledge of my Melaleuca business to help with everything from Strategy Sessions to teaching someone exactly how to mix their bottle of cleaner.” Become Successful with Teamwork That teacher-student mentality has been infused throughout her team and has allowed them to work together to be successful. Everyone—from builders like her enroller Corporate Director 6 Erin Clark to newly enrolled Directors—lifts, teaches, and inspires others to be successful. As a result, they all know the simple principles behind approaching others, presenting Melaleuca Overviews, and consistently doing all Seven Critical Business- Building Activities. Working together also helps everyone stay motivated and accountable to their daily activities. Plus, it’s easy to recognize and celebrate everyone’s achievements, from advancements to a shout-out for sending a message to someone they were nervous to approach. “You never need to reinvent the wheel here,” Ashley says. “No matter where someone comes into my organization, they know what to expect.” Lead by Example There’s no doubt about it—Ashley gets in the trenches with her team to make sure no one is left behind. Her team follows her example and consistently works hard to enroll customers and build leaders. But it’s not just her team who’s watching. She’s an incredible example to her nine-year-old twin boys, seven-year-old son, and two-year-old daughter.

“My favorite part about the Mission Statement and about the Compensation Plan is that you can’t come here and be successful by yourself,” Ashley says.

Abby & Dustin Tormondson KANSAS Goals to Enhance Lives

Abby takes the time once or twice a month to reach out to her customers and thank them for being loyal Melaleuca Members. She’s there for her customers, and they know she cares. Like many who build a Melaleuca business, when Abby found Melaleuca, she needed a way to make extra money to cover her bills. She needed to pull her family out of their struggling financial situation. She rescued her family and is now passionate about helping others find stability. “I heard National Director Sandy Grippo say that it’s not if life happens, it’s when ,” Abby says. “That struck me because I’ve had life happen to me, and Melaleuca was there when we were going through it. Everyone needs a supplemental income or a plan B of some sort for when life happens. I feel like I need to show people there are other options.” Abby works as a cosmetologist as well as a Marketing Executive. While she faces ups and downs in her work—as many cosmetologists do—she and her family have enjoyed the stability of her Melaleuca business. “Having a supplemental income from Melaleuca has made a huge difference for me,” she says. “I know others who do hair who would benefit from Melaleuca’s reliability.” Abby sees Melaleuca as an opportunity to help other families find peace of mind, and her 2021 goals reflect that. “I set more goals about helping others than I do about my own income,” she says. “I know that when I focus on other people and make this a business about helping others, I’ll do so much better than if I focus on myself.”

Abby Tormondson has figured out what it’s really all about: others. She doesn’t see others as assets to growing her business and making a lot of money. She sees others as people to care for and appreciate. Her customers can feel this and know that they can come to Abby if they need anything. “Most of my business builders started out as customers,” Abby says. “Some maybe wanted to build a business at first but didn’t put in the effort and just became regular customers. And then a couple years later, they decide they want to build the business. I just never give up on anyone. “One of my teammates, Devan Rothers, advanced to Senior Director last month. She was one of the very first customers I ever enrolled. I called her about the business side because I knew a supplemental income could really help her. But she didn’t decide to build a business until a year and a half later. Throughout that time, I didn’t push the business on her. I just stayed in touch with her and appreciated her as a customer. The time came when she was ready. Never give up on anyone because you never know when their time is going to come. Just love on them where they’re at until they’re ready.”

Abby found her home when she stepped away from the MLM world to build a Melaleuca business. “I feel motivated that I can help people here,” Abby explains. “I have so much confidence in Melaleuca, and I don’t ever get tired of doing the Seven Critical Activities because I can do good here.”

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR 5 ADVANCEMENTS NEW

Danisha Rolle FLORIDA Building a Life-Changing Legacy

As a Christmas present, her 16-year-old son received his own bank account. Danisha and her husband want him to know how to write a check, manage his money, and invest responsibly. “My goal is to create a legacy for my children,” Danisha says. Specifically, she wants her kids to understand the value of entrepreneurship and the rewards that come from hard work and dedication. “And it’s more tangible for them because they can see my business grow; they watch me hosting online calls, answering questions, and mentoring my team,” she says. “I’m an entrepreneur, and I wear that title proudly.” Danisha’s greatest business-building tip is to become a “product of the products.” For her, this has been one of the most fun aspects of growing a Melaleuca business. It’s difficult for Danisha to find a product she doesn’t absolutely love, but her number one favorite is the Peak Performance Metabolic Health Pack . “I can feel the difference in my energy levels,” she says. When people ask her what she does for a living, Danisha simply tells them, “I’m a member of the ultimate shopping club.” In fact, the banking assistant who helped Danisha open up her son’s bank account asked her this very question. “I told her that I get thank-you checks for sharing essential products that customers are already using, and that our Retail Partners portal is like icing on the cake,” she says. The banking assistant then asked Danisha to contact her at her personal email address in order to set up a time for a Melaleuca Overview. “That’s the power of this business,” she says. “Every day-to-day moment can be life changing.”

Executive Director 5 Danisha Rolle believes that achieving success starts by surrounding yourself with people who are uplifting and motivating. “If you want to soar, you have to be around eagles,” she says. “Lock arms with people who want you to succeed as badly as you do.” Danisha said yes to watching a virtual Melaleuca Overview when she was in the midst of planning her own virtual event—the SET an Example/Women of the NFL Conference (her husband is a retired NFL cornerback). Melaleuca just made sense, especially because Danisha realized that all of her product essentials could be delivered right to her door. “Timing is everything,” she says. “I previously said no to Executive Director 6 Elicia Bennett because I had zero interest in building a Melaleuca business. Things change. As a Marketing Executive, remember that when someone turns you down, sometimes it’s a no for right now—not a no forever.” Months later, Danisha has embodied Melaleuca’s mission of enhancing lives by sharing the benefits of Melaleuca with new customers and by growing a team of passionate business builders. It’s not easy, but Danisha is highly competitive and driven to succeed. “I grew up in an environment where it was feast or famine,” she explains. “Melaleuca is allowing me to have more financial stability. I’m currently teaching my children financial literacy, which is something that my husband and I were never taught. It’s just so important.”

“Even if your business stalls, don’t

Joel & Diane Nakagaki HAWAII Living a Grateful Life

and I have been doing meetings with people in the Philippines. That’s exciting. We’re not just limited to presenting to potential customers in Hawaii, but we can do it anywhere in the world that Melaleuca is open for business. We’ve presented Melaleuca Overviews in Ireland and Australia too. So that’s been kind of cool.” And if you’ve had the opportunity to meet Diane, you know that these people around the world are now her friends. In addition to her gratitude for technology and worldwide friends, Diane is grateful to have been a Melaleuca Member and Marketing Executive for more than 17 years. “Melaleuca has been so great to us from the very beginning,” Diane says. “I’ve always received a check every month and that’s been so important to us. How can you even put a price on that? Thank you, Melaleuca! “I’m just so very, very grateful to my team, to everyone I meet, and to Melaleuca,” she says again. And Melaleuca is beyond grateful to have had Diane with us for the last 17 years, and looks forward to at least 17 more to come.

For years, scientists around the world have documented the many physical and mental health benefits of simply being grateful. And while living in Hawaii can’t hurt, new Executive Director 4 Diane Nakagaki lives in a way that allows her to enjoy all of those benefits. Diane chooses to focus on the good things in life and to be grateful for who and what she has. For example, regarding her latest advancement, Diane says, “I’m really coming at this from a very, very grateful heart. To have this team with me that’s working so hard and that I get to help support is just fantastic.” Even when Diane encounters difficulties in her business, she is grateful for what she learns as a result. These past several months, Diane has had the opportunity to be grateful for the personal growth she has experienced as a result of working more with technology. She describes herself as being not very tech savvy, but lately she’s learned a lot about how to further incorporate technology into her business. “It’s been really great,” she says. “I’ve had to get out of my comfort zone and do video calls almost every day. That’s been very good for my personal growth and has helped me mentor both new and long-standing business partners.” One of the best outcomes of her using more technology has been the people she’s been able to meet all over the world. “Obviously, with this technology you can present Melaleuca: An Overview to people all over. For example, a former coworker

“We love the products so much,” Diane says. “That’s where it all starts. When you can share that love, along with the value of the products and how effective they are, there’s no comparison to that. Helping others and sharing these products brings me so much joy.”

Corinne Cochrane & Matthew Woods BRITISH COLUMBIA Committed to Helping Others

She’s also happy to be part of a team that inspires her every day. “My new builders, Directors 3 Dominique and Ty Wishart, are a great example of this,” she says. “They have been dedicated, coachable, and amazing to work with from the start,” she says. Spreading positivity through Melaleuca’s mission of helping others is what motivates Corinne to keep growing her business. “Let go of your fear of rejection and focus on how you can lift others up,” she explains. “Melaleuca could be the vehicle that changes someone’s life forever—just like it did for mine.” Corinne now has more flexibility to devote herself to her family and choose how she wants to spend her day. It’s a life she never thought she could have before Melaleuca. “My kids wake up and I’m all theirs,” she says. She also loves to exercise, so she regularly goes on walks, runs, or nature hikes as a way to build relationships and grow her contact list. “Sometimes I pinch myself because I can’t believe this is my life,” she laughs. If there’s one piece of business-building advice Corinne can give, it’s to focus first and foremost on how Melaleuca can benefit your friends, family, and neighbors. “At Melaleuca, we have the opportunity to help people save money, save time, and transform their health,” she says. “Keep your approaches simple. Melaleuca is a wellness store with safer, fresher, higher-quality products that are affordable. It’s a better way to shop, period!”

Executive Director 3 Corinne Cochrane joined Melaleuca because she’s passionate about health and wellness. “My background is in nursing, and I’ve always placed a high priority on the importance of getting chemicals out of the home,” she says. “Shopping at Melaleuca just made sense.” She immediately fell in love with the Peak Performance Nutrition Pack and FiberWise® Drink . “I was blown away by the quality of the products and the improvement in my gut health,” Corinne says. Still, the timing for building a Melaleuca business didn’t seem right. Until it was. “I was tired and broke,” she says. “My marriage was struggling because of the lack of balance and financial stress.” With her enroller’s help, Corinne’s business has grown steadily over the years. She attributes her rise from Executive Director 2 to Executive Director 3 to one thing: consistency. “Anything is possible with grit and determination,” she says. “You have to push through the emotional ups and downs.” Monday through Friday, Corinne shows up at 5:30 a.m. for team “Rise & Grind” video meetings: daily check-ins that focus on troubleshooting issues, positive mindsets, Melaleuca product trainings, and more. Her team includes many moms with toddlers, and Corinne figures that if they can show up at 5:30 a.m. every morning, so can she. “I love it,” she says. “It forces me to go to bed early!”

“What fulfills me is making a difference in the lives of others,” Corinne says. “That’s my purpose. And I’m so grateful that Melaleuca allows me to do that.”

Chelsie & Robert Gilbert MISSISSIPPI Preparing for a Lifetime of Wellness

well into December. “It was a pretty trying month,” Chelsie says. Thankfully, there were some silver linings. Her support team fully supported her stepping back to care for her family, and her business partners continued to work hard and grow their businesses while she was away. And her daughter’s cast even led to an opportunity to share Melaleuca! “When my daughter got her cast off,” Chelsie says, “her skin was very dry. So I put Renew ® on her arm four times in 24 hours. A day later you couldn’t even tell which arm the cast had been on!” Then Chelsie saw a neighbor’s social media post asking for suggestions for a new skin lotion. “I replied, ‘Let me show you this photo I took of my daughter’s arm!’” Chelsie says. Experiences like these have shown the Gilberts how Melaleuca is helping them prepare for a lifetime of wellness. They feel like they’ve received so much, in fact, that they are finding ways to give back. “Giving gifts is my love language,” Chelsie says. “And this year we’ve been able to give so much back. We’re doing an angel tree to help other families enjoy the holidays. It’s so nice to have that freedom—and to teach our kids the principle of giving as well. “Our kids know we’re working together toward family goals. They know we’ve been blessed. We always emphasize to them that when we see blessings coming in, we give back to others. To whom much is given, much is required. We want them to see that lived out—not just said, but taught through what we do each day.” JC

“I never thought I’d change makeup brands,” Chelsie Gilbert laughs. “I had used the same brand forever, and I loved it. But now that I’ve discovered Sei Bella ,® I’ve completely replaced every single bit of my old makeup! I love Sei Bella —and all the health benefits it provides—even more.” In fact, she has converted her entire home to Melaleuca products! “I thought we were living pretty healthily before,” Chelsie says. “But every day I’m finding out another way that Melaleuca products are helping improve our health and wellness.” She knows that by choosing better products—and by working hard to build her Melaleuca business—she’s preparing her family for a lifetime of wellness. That’s because challenges always come. In November of 2020, Chelsie’s grandfather passed away, and Chelsie was devastated. “He was the biggest part of my life,” she says. To make it even tougher, her parents were both dealing with health concerns at the time, so a lot of the responsibility to plan the funeral fell on Chelsie’s shoulders. “I pretty much had to check out of everything else, including my Melaleuca business,” she says. “I needed to have that time for my family.” Then, on the night of the funeral, her two-year-old daughter broke her elbow in an accident. Her whole arm was in a cast

The Gilberts like to leave gift baskets on their porch for the delivery drivers—with travel-size tubes of Renew included, of course! “Some of them have rung the doorbell just to tell me how much they love the lotion,” Chelsie laughs.
