Learning Circle: 14 PRE-WORK Learning & Development Assessment
1
Learning Circle: 14
Dear L&D Leaders, The clock is ticking and we are nearly reaching the LC 14, on Learning and Development Assessment. Gone are those days where the effectiveness of learning was measured through multiple choice questions.
How effective is our implemented learning program?
How can we follow up to ensure that people are continuously learning?
2
In our LC, we will learn:
✓ The methods to follow up after learning sessions
✓ How to design post-learning assessments
✓ The importance of using
business analytics to identify learning ROI
✓ To present our Learning
outcomes to business partners
Please refer to the PRE-WORKS in preparation to attend our upcoming Learning Circle.
3
PRE-WORK : 1
Please scan the QR code to listen to a 17 minutes Podcast on Measuring the Impact of Learning: Tying Results to Business Goals. Question: 1) In today’s world, an “analytic-enhanced” approach to measure learning is necessary. As L&D professionals, provide examples of how far you would support this approach. (requires submission)
4
PRE-WORK : 2
Measuring R.O.I successfully can add credibility and longevity to our learning strategy. 1) In preparation for pre-work 2, you are required to do a research and find 2 journal articles that explain the methods to follow up after learning sessions
(to be discussed during LC on 29 May 2019)
5
PRE-WORK : 3
If you don’t measure your L&D R.O.I, you can’t present results to your organizations leaders and stakeholders and if you don’t present results your leaders and stakeholders will not be aware of how learning really contributes to the bottom line. For the purpose of this pre-work, you are requested to read through Chapter 5 – “Was it worth it?” from the Book “Measuring and Maximizing Training Impact” (Leone, 2014) 1) Consider one of the training programs you had to cater for in 2018. Using the method of calculating R.O.I in chapter 5, Calculate the R.O.I of the training which took place in your Hotel. (requires submission)
