As you know, we have been taking preventive measures against COVID-19 for the past year to help keep you and our residents safe. We appreciate everything you have done to adapt and help keep our company running through this challenging time. As more states open up COVID-19 vaccinations to adults, we want to remind you about the importance of the vaccine to help stop the virus and how to find a vaccination location. In addition, we want to announce additional benefits we are offering to support you when you get vaccinated.

VACCINATIONS MATTER

Getting vaccinated adds one more layer of protection for you and your coworkers, family and loved ones and is an important tool to help us get back to normal. The CDC has shared the following regarding COVID-19 vaccines:

• COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective.

• You may experience side effects after your COVID-19 vaccination, such as pain, redness or swelling in the arm where you got the shot, fatigue, headache, muscle pain, chills, fever and nausea. These are normal signs that your body is building protection against COVID-19 and are temporary. • It typically takes two weeks after you are fully vaccinated for the body to build protection (immunity) against the virus that causes COVID-19. • We are still learning about COVID-19 vaccines, including how long the vaccines protect people and how many people have to be vaccinated before most people can be considered protected (population or herd immunity). The ability to relax our current COVID-19 Workplace Health & Safety Guidelines – including wearing masks and social distancing – depends on additional guidance from the CDC and whether the vast majority of our associates have been vaccinated.

If you are currently eligible to get vaccinated in your state, you can click here to visit VaccineFinder to find a vaccination location and schedule an appointment with the specific vaccine provider or pharmacy.

VACCINATION SUPPORT

We want to ensure every associate has the opportunity to get vaccinated without the concern of having to use sick time or vacation for missing work as a result of getting the COVID-19 vaccine. To that end, we will offer the following paid time off options to associates who receive a COVID-19 vaccine:

1. Paid time off to receive a COVID-19 vaccine during working hours.

o Non-exempt (Hourly) Associates can receive up to 2 hours of paid time off per dose (up to 4 hours total for a two-dose vaccine) to take time off during working hours to get a COVID-19 vaccine. ▪ Click here for How To Submit COVID-19 Vaccine Time Off or follow these instructions when submitting a time off request in Workday: 1. Select the time off type labeled “COVID - 19 Vaccine.” 2. Enter a daily quantity of up to 2 hours. 3. Attach documentation* to confirm you received a dose of the COVID- 19 vaccine on the date the paid time off is being requested and select the document category, “Benefits.” 4. Click Submit. o Exempt (Salaried) Associates will have flexibility to take time off during their normal work schedule to get a COVID-19 vaccine. No paid time off is required. 2. Up to 8 hours of paid time off for associates (exempt and non-exempt) who do not feel well enough to work due to experiencing side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine. o To request this paid time off, send an email to [email protected] with the date and number of hours missed from work and attach documentation* to confirm the date you received a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

AFTER YOUR COVID-19 VACCINE

If you’ve been fully vaccinated, the CDC says you do not need to stay away from others or get tested for COVID-19 unless you have symptoms. You should continue to complete the daily COVID-19 Health Screening Questionnaire before starting work to notify the Benefits team if you’re experiencing symptoms or had close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19. It is important for the MAA Benefits team to know whether you’ve been fully vaccinated for COVID - 19, so they can advise whether you need to quarantine after having close contact with a person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19. 1. Upload a picture or copy of your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card when you complete the daily COVID-19 Health Screening and Vaccination Questionnaire. 2. Enter your vaccination information and upload a picture or copy of your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card in Workday (instructions are included in the MAA Workplace COVID-19 Vaccination Program document). 3. Email a picture or copy of your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card to [email protected].

WELLNESS INCENTIVE

If you and your spouse (if applicable) are covered under one of our medical plans with Cigna, you can now earn up to $50 each in wellness incentives under our MotivateME program by self-reporting that you have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Follow the instructions below to report this activity through myCigna.com:

1. Log into myCigna.com, and under the Wellness tab, click on Wellness & Incentives . 2. Click on View all incentives . 3. Look for the activity “ I HAVE BEEN FULLY VACCINATED FOR COVID- 19” and click on Report my goal activity .
