Before COVID-19 hit and everything went crazy, I came to a big realization: Monteforte Law P.C. was running out of space. We were in the process of hiring another person to join our team, rounding us out at four employees, yet I had no idea where they were going to sit. That’s when it dawned on me that we had to move again. I had been avoiding this reality since our last move less than a year ago. When I began this practice more than 10 years ago, I would have never guessed it would grow to where it is today, much less involve two moves in less than one year. (Jill is so supportive that I’m sure she had no doubt!) It’s a great problem to have. This growth allows me to focus more of my energy on law, and I can trust my employees to handle day-to-day business moves and needs. It was the thought of moving again that I dreaded. Less than a year ago, we moved from our small shared office to a space that was all our own. It was in Wilmington, bright, and easily accessible for all our clients. But since 2018, we’ve grown from one employee to four, and almost immediately after we moved to our new space, I realized we may need more room sooner than I anticipated. Employees set up permanent residency in our new conference room, and quarters became close. I began preparing for the inevitable — and then COVID-19 happened. We all left our tight office space for our home offices and hunkered down for weeks. The pandemic may have prolonged our move, but it also provided a great opportunity. We found a spacious office building that was no longer needed by its previous tenants, who made the decision to continue working from home permanently. We move into our new space on Sept. 1, and I already cannot wait to settle into this newer, nicer space. It does push us down the road another 2 miles, which means we are no longer located in Wilmington, but we’re excited to build a future in this new home.
