Mission Statement
The Melanoma Research Foundation is committed to advancing lifesaving melanoma RESEARCH, increasing EDUCATION about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease and leading global ADVOCACY efforts to promote policies and initiatives that are most needed by the melanoma community. This critical work is made possible by the steadfast commitment, constant innovation and unwavering generosity of a community united in the fight against melanoma. Guided by the principles of responsible stewardship and continued progress, this report shares some recent highlights of what we have accomplished together.

In honor of Melanoma Awareness Month, the MRF unveiled a new look for its award-winning melanoma early detection campaign. Instead of professional models, the #GetNaked campaign celebrates the images and stories of real melanoma patients, survivors and caregivers in our community.

GRANT SPOTLIGHT
Walter Fast, Ph.D. was awarded a one-year MRF CURE OM PILOT PROPOSAL FOCUSED ON GNAQ/11 MUTANT UVEAL MELANOMA.

l This $100,000 grant was made possible through the efforts of the MRF and the generosity of Jack Odell, John Dagres and their supporters. l More information about Dr. Fast’s research is available on the MRF blog.

GRANT OPPORTUNITY
MEETINGS AND PUBLICATIONS In collaboration with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) melanoma Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs), the MRF sponsored a second workshop on melanoma brain metastases (MBM). Findings from the meeting are being published in a white paper.
2018 PARTNERSHIP WITH BRISTOL-MYERS SQUIBB (BMS)
The MRF Breakthrough Consortium convened a meeting of melanoma thought leaders at ASCO 2018 to discuss new initiatives and opportunities for collaboration.
