Manager's Message
by Enrique Contreras, CCM, General Manager/COO
With the weather getting warmer and we start to reopen more, our management team is putting plans in place, to improve your experience at the Club.
We will start having aquatics and other exercise classes in the middle of the month. As a friendly reminder, due to the Club’s liability and for your own liability, we will not be allowing anyone from outside to visit our exercise facilities. This includes personal training. If you have any questions, please call me. I’d like to thank to all of the members that are continuing to use the dining room facility. We are breaking record numbers with reservations and the quantity of members being served. We will continue to have our Friday Night Live, as this has been very popular. As reminder, if you haven’t dined with us on our Basque Dinner night, you are missing out! Please join us every Sunday from 5pm to 8pm (with the exception of Easter Sunday) for all your traditional Basque favorites - you will not be disappointed!
Again, from all of us at Seven Oaks we wish you a healthy and safe Easter Break. See you at the Club!

Message from the President by Mike Burton, President, Board of Governors
So, here we are in April already, one full year from when our
experience along with our Friday night music specials. Pickle ball and tennis courts are surpassing expectations with tournaments and new pickle ball courts on the way soon! Lately, the surge has continued with golf sales surpassing budgets and rounds up more than 20 percent for the year. Look for the latest news on upcoming golf and tennis events. In this coming year, we will begin the work of creating a Strategic Plan for the next years to come. Meetings are already under way with the committee consisting of Jim Varner, past President, John Pitre, our new CFO, and Kyle Wigley who currently sits on the Finance committee. Work has started with the redesign of our banquet room, in addition to the implementation of our new computer systems. Bids are being accepted for pickle courts at this time in addition to reviewing
opportunities for solar throug- hout our 245 acre facility. Please reach out to a board member or the aforementioned planning committee should you have any suggestions for improving the overall experience of the club. I am honored to represent the women and men of our Country Club and once again want to thank Jeremy Brehmer and the previous board mem- bers for their steady hand over the last year. Our club strives to provide you with great services and to provide great leadership which includes Enrique and his staff. We hope that you continue to find your club as a refreshing companion to the nuanced nature of our current reality. Stay safe and thank you for your continued support!
life’s turned all upside down. As the World begins to see light at the end of the tunnel, our club enters the spring with a bright outlook and a fresh new Board of Directors and new Committee members. I am honored to take over the nominal helm of Seven Oaks Country Club for 2021. I say nominal because our club is really driven by an impressive group of men and women at the board and staff level who do a wonderful job of delivering multiple aspects of service and fresh ideas to the membership. Recreational activities continue to be introduced and have ta- ken off running. We will continue to always place safety first for all of our exciting and fun events. Basque night on Sundays conti- nues to be a new, popular dining
Seven Oaks Book Club The Seven Oaks Book Club meets each month to discuss books on a reading list which is selected by mutual consent of the Book Club members. All members of SOCC are invited to attend.
Our selection for April is…
The Splendid and the Vile by Erik Larson On Winston Churchill’s first day as prime minister, Adolf Hitler invaded Holland and Belgium. Poland and Czechoslovakia had already fallen, and the Dunkirk evacuation was just two weeks away. For the next twelve months, Hitler would wage a relentless bombing campaign, killing 45,000 Britons. It was up to Churchill to hold his country together and persuade President Franklin Roosevelt that Britain was a worthy ally—and willing to fight to the end.
Our next meeting is April 22 nd at 5pm at the Club Please email Bee Barmann @ [email protected] to receive information on joining the meeting.

I have received many compliments about the Black mulchwe have started to use, primarily onOaks #8 & #9, IhavethismulchspeciallymadeforSevenOaksand it definitely is far classier looking than the dingy, red chipped mulch currently used throughout the state. It’s all part of the plan to bring Seven Oaks to an elevated level that will exceed our competitors. We are making many changes and improvements to our irrigation system. I apologize in advance if wemake amistake and get youwet. I promise it is not intentional… we have 4600 irrigation heads and they are not labeled in an easy, understandable format. This is part of what we are trying to improve upon. Please remember to fix ball marks, fill divots, and please try to park your carts with all four wells on the path. I know this doesn’t sound like a lot, but if we all chip-in and do our small part I guarantee your course will greatly improve. April 23 rd & 24 th
Greens aeration went fantastic and recovery should be very quick. Unfortunately, our Tee and Fairway aeration was put to temporary stop due to a major rocker arm snapping in half on our old fairway aerator. Toro has been kind enough to offer us a loaner Aerator, which should allow us to have aeration completed by the time you receive this newsletter. We have made our first of two “wall to wall” applications of Pre-Emergent Crabgrass control. Our second application is set to go out around the end of April. This should be a stark improvement compared to the previous years. As I mentioned before, it will take a couple years to clean up the intense weed contamination.
