Enactus Nottingham takes first place at The UK National Expo The Enactus UK National Expo showcases and celebrates the collective impact created by its network of student, business, and academic leaders across many industries and throughout the UK. The signature event for Enactus UK, the UK’s leading combined youth social action, and youth social enterprise organisation with more than 3,500 student members, took place on April 11 2022, at the ExCel Centre in London and featured the UK’s leading social innovation projects developed by Enactus student teams from more than 60 campuses nationwide. This dynamic, energy-filled event brought together more than 500 university students as well as more than 300 university staff and senior UK business leaders for a day of celebration and collaboration of Youth Social Action and Youth Social Enterprise. At the Enactus UK National Expo 2022 held at the London Excel Centre on 11 April, the Enactus Nottingham team from the University of Nottingham won the National Champion 2022 and will now go on to represent the UK at the Enactus World Cup held in San Juan, Puerto Rico to be held later in the year between the 30th of October and 2nd of November 2022. The runners up were the teams from the University of Sheffield, Kings College London, the University of Southampton, and the University of Exeter.
The celebration didn’t end there as numerous prizes winners, award recipients and achievements were recognised from across our network including students, teams, and partner organisations.
Amy Brereton, Enactus UK COO, said:
These #NextGenLeaders demonstrated entrepreneurial leadership with projects and businesses that create immense, collective impact across the UK and around the world. Their passion, determination, and resilience to succeed in such challenging circumstances over the past few years, not only fills me with immense pride, but a huge amount of hope for the future and for the next generation of responsible leaders who will soon enter the world of work.

In addition to competition, the Enactus UK National Expo featured three amazing keynote speakers – two were Enactus alumni, Aaron Probert, and Julius Ibrahim, who showcased the impact of Enactus UK on their lives both personally and professionally. A new addition to the Enactus community, Hayley Bennett, spoke of her work in driving inclusivity in organisations and the importance of advocating for equality. More than this, many leading top graduate recruiters from across the UK featured as part of the Enterprise and Employability Fair, alongside additional interactive learning and employability sessions run by Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Unilever.

UK Chapter News Being an Enactus Judge PMI UK members should consider seriously responding to calls for volunteers to act as Judge in the Enactus UK University competition. Why? Simply put because it’s an obvious win-win for student-entrepreneurs and for you! I was first invited to be a Judge in Spring 2020 for the opening round of the UK competition, and then the semi-final. Since then, I have also judged at the World Cup 2021 and the UK 2022 opening round and semi-final, and I hope to continue to serve for many years to come. Back to the start and Spring 2020: the world was spinning with the emergence of Coronavirus, my legal and training business Schutte Consulting Limited (SCL) felt like it was on ‘pause‘, whilst industry dusted itself off from the shock and worked out what support it needed. Lockdown followed swiftly. So, I looked for opportunities to improve myself (student not teacher!), and to use the headspace to give SCL some long overdue tender, love, and care. All whilst home-schooling two primary age children.
