MICHAEL PARSONS ________________________ FINE ART Walter Isaacs 1886–1964, WASHINGTON

Walter Isaacs began a 31 year teaching career at Seattle’s University of Wash- ington in 1923. Like Harry Wentz in Portland, he successfully trained and mentored a generation of Northwest artists. Isaacs also maintained an active studio practice, producing work for 23 solo exhibitions and numerous group shows. With a keen interest in new developments in art, Isaac’s work developed from a post-Cezanne, angular style to a more individual voice that was increasingly influenced by European Modernism. Isaacs remains an important figure in the history of Northwest Art.
