Moses Soyer (1899-1974, New York)
MICHAEL PARSONS F I NE ART produced murals together for the New Deal’s WPA Project. Moses Soyer’s work is in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA, and the Philadelphia Museum amongst others. Artist Moses Soyer and his family emigrated from Russia in 1912. He began formal studies in 1916 at Cooper Union and the National Academy of Design. Soyer also studied with the Ashcan School painters, Robert Henri and George Bellows. Truly an artist formed by the Great Depression, Soyer engaged with Social Realism, developing a sincere empathy for the struggles of the working class.
