Quality Plus Automotive - September 2021

September 2021

Singing Praises Gratitude for My Team I am a firm believer in employee appreciation and taking care of your employees. When I first started in the automotive industry 35 years ago, I’m almost embarrassed to admit that I tried to do it all myself. It didn’t take long at all for me to realize that it is not possible — it takes a team! Many of my employees have been with me for many years. In fact, one particular staff member just celebrated 12 years with us. Because I truly rely on my staff, I make an effort to hire individuals who share the same attitude toward the business and clients as I do. I’d consider myself pretty picky when it comes to deciding who I hire. I relish someone who is trustworthy, reliable, honest, self-motivated, and goal-oriented. I look for them to understand that there is a right and a wrong way of doing things. As the business owner, I feel directly responsible for the actions of my staff. When something doesn’t go the way it should, it falls back on me, even if it was the job of my employee. We are all human, and I trust that my employees are good people and act in good faith. I operate each day with an open-door policy — I encourage my employees to put trust in me and feel comfortable discussing anything with me. As a consumer, at every business that I visit, I focus my attention on the employees. When a business is operated by pleasant, genuine people, I feel comfortable and confident in the service I receive. At Quality Plus Automotive, we all need to be on the same page. From the receptionist to the parts manager, everyone must collaborate to deliver the most optimal service to our customers. The happiness of my staff is paramount, and I have a large variety of people that work together with me to continue to improve Quality Plus Automotive every day. We all differ in age, background, culture,

and personality, but we are one big family. Between the two locations, we have two group text chats, which is how we stay in touch on a personal level. We share jokes, personal events, and more. I occasionally host a company picnic — it’s something we can never do often enough. We get a large food truck and everyone brings their families out for a grand time. Engaging in activities as a team builds our company culture and that’s something we can always work on. Not only does employee retention rely on the well- being of my employees, but ensuring that every single person is comfortable and content within our work environment is the key to optimal performance. The ultimate success of any business is through the employees, and It takes a great group of people to make a great business. I truly love who I have working with me to make Quality Plus Automotive possible.

2 Fun Family Card Games to Play With 1 Deck

Stop Right T A Glimpse Into Automatic Emergency Br

Whether you’re hanging out at home or camping with the family, card games are a great way to relax. A single deck is versatile and easy to pack, so if you have one on hand, try these two games that go beyond the classics like War and Go Fish.

Is it possible for your car to be able to react faster than you can? Yes and no. With automatic emergency braking systems, accidents can be avoided. After all, half a second can be the difference between an accident and no accident.

1. Slapjack (2+ Players, No Jokers): The goal of this War-style game is to win all of the cards. To start, deal all of the cards face down, then have everyone form their cards into a pile without looking at them. Each player then flips a card face up into the center. Continue doing this until one of the cards played is a jack.

When a car detects a potential collision, an active safety system activates the car’s brakes for you. This means that without the driver touching the brake pedal, the brakes are triggered.

Automatic emergency braking systems also can increase the force of braking if the vehicle determines that the driver is not applying the brakes at a great enough force to avoid a collision ahead.

When that happens, the first person to slap the jack wins it and the cards beneath! They add them to their deck, and play continues until one player has all of the cards. To keep things interesting, if you accidentally slap a card that isn’t a jack, you have to give up one of your cards to the player with that pile, and if you run out of cards, you can reenter the game by slapping the very next jack. 2. Spar (2–4 Players, No Ace of Spades or Cards Below 6): This easy game is played with just 35 cards, and the object is to win the last round (aka trick). To start, deal five cards to each player. Then, have the person to the left of the dealer lay one of their cards face up. Each person in the circle then plays a card in the same suit if they can or another suit if they can’t. Whoever has the highest card in the original suit wins the trick and starts the next one! The winner of the fifth trick wins the game. If you want to keep score, award three points if the winning card is a six, two points if it’s a seven, and one point if it’s an eight or higher. Then play again!

There! raking Systems

Save on Gas

Imagine you are driving along and your car just starts braking on its own — that’s startling! The automatic emergency

braking system pairs with forward and/or reverse collision warning systems to help to eradicate this phenomenon. Usually, the forward collision warning

will indicate with a loud beeping that an object is ahead and give the driver the opportunity to brake. If the driver does not brake hard enough (or at all), that’s when the automatic emergency braking system steps in.

But how exactly does the automatic emergency braking system work? Some

vehicles have radar sensors within their front bumper or grill to detect objects ahead and are then calibrated. Others utilize a camera that is usually installed in the windshield behind the rearview mirror. Software is then used to measure the potential of a vehicular crash based on all the sensory >Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4
