Ronnie Wood | The Private Collection 2017

Foreword

Taken from the personal archive of Ronnie Wood, this carefully curated collection comprises some of the most sought after limited editions published in his artistic career to date. Following the launch of this concept in April 2016, these rare and sold out editions are presented together as the second release from The Private Collection . This collection demonstrates how Ronnie’s unique perspective from within the band enables his art to capture the very essence of the Rolling Stones and their musical peers. The icons depicted within these pieces were handpicked from Ronnie’s own inner sanctum of close friends, musical idols and mentors. Jimi Hendrix, with whom Ronnie lived at one stage, introduced Ronnie to his own musical heroes, which brought new influences to Ronnie’s musicality. Ronnie named the piece ‘Foxy Jimi’ in homage to Hendrix’s huge hit ‘Foxy

Lady’. Similarly, his close friendship with Slash has been honoured in ‘I Gotta See’. Not only have they shared many years of friendship, Ronnie acknowledges Slash as one of guitar heroes, and they have enjoyed playing on stage together over the years. The rarity of these editions renders them precious, and care has been taken to award them the reverence and respect they command. The bespoke framing and mount presentation was expertly chosen to celebrate the beauty of the prints, from highlighting the high grade paper stock to showcasing the hand embossed collection logo, every detail of the finish has been executed to the finest standard. The Private Collection is eminently desirable, highly collectible and will draw the eye of all who happen upon it; from established art aficionados to dedicated fan of the Rolling Stones, this pictorial journey through the annals of rock and roll is a joy to behold.

Ronnie Wood

History and Background

Ronnie Wood was born in 1947 in Middlesex, England, into a musical and artistic family. Before beginning his musical career he received formal art training at Ealing College of Art, London. Throughout the years, the artist and the musician have been inseparable. As his musical career progressed, Ronnie continued his passion for painting and drawing; his subjects ranging from band members and musicians he admired, knew and sometimes played with, to family and close friends’ and of course, the self-portrait. It is as natural to find him with a pencil as with a guitar, drawing portraits of contemporaries and finding inspiration from his musical influences. Wood has been painting and sketching ever since he was a child and is a passionate and dedicated artist, taking inspiration from artists such as Egon Schiele, Henri Matisse, Vincent Van Gogh and Pablo Picasso. Nowadays Wood is adept at creating pieces from landscapes, to portraiture, abstract to architectural; creating his original pieces in charcoals, oils, watercolours, spray paints, oil pastels and acrylics. Varying his style and his medium depending on the feeling or mood he is trying to evoke with his work. Ideas and Inspirations
