Out of Your Comfort Zone Broadening Your Horizons Broadens Your World

Text

Hello, everyone!

When we travel, we often eat things we never would have considered making back at home. Not every dish is an instant favorite, but it’s great to be exposed to new things. Part of the reason I love going to Cozumel is because the resort we stay at is full of families from all over the place. It’s a popular vacation destination

It’s been a crazy summer, and I am so excited to be sending the newsletter again. There’s so much to talk about! This past summer, my family took an amazing trip to Cozumel, an island off the coast of Mexico. Traveling to different countries is always fun, and it’s a good cultural experience for my kids. Neither my husband nor I traveled much when we were growing up. The first time I traveled out of the country, I was 19 and going on a mission trip to Mérida, a city on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. I spent the summer between my sophomore and junior years of college working at a Christian summer camp with kids. I spent a lot of time teaching kids lessons from the Bible, and it was a wonderful experience. When the opportunity to go on a mission trip came up with my church, I gladly signed up. We visited the small villages just outside of Mérida and ran vacation Bible school. It was really cool to teach the kids Bible lessons by playing games and doing fun activities with them. Traveling to another country was an amazing trip. I really enjoyed getting to experience another culture that was so different than the one I grew up in. My husband and I want our sons to have those same experiences. It’s a big, amazing world full of people from all walks of life. We want our sons to be able to recognize that people can come from all different backgrounds and have their own life experiences. Being in a foreign country means being out of your comfort zone. It’s an opportunity to stretch and grow, learning new things about the world and about yourself. I love meeting new people, going shopping with my kids, and trying different foods.

for families from South and Central America. Even around the resort, you can meet people from all over the world. You also get to see kids from all over the world acting up or crying. As a parent, it’s a nice reminder that it’s not just me. Parents wrangling their children is a universal struggle. We are truly blessed to have the ability to travel to different countries and have these great experiences. It’s important to get out of your comfort zone and see the big, beautiful world. But one of my favorite parts of any trip is coming home. My husband and I both grew up in small towns, and we love the small- town lifestyle. That’s why we’re glad to call Rockport home. No matter where we go in the world, this is the place we want to come back to.

teeth. You’ll be provided with a whitening gel solution that goes into your trays to be worn on your teeth at home. With regular whitening, you’ll start to see results in a few weeks. Which is the best whitening method? It depends on the results you’re looking for. If you don’t mind your whitening taking a little time and you can stick to a whitening schedule, take-home trays can work wonders. But if you need to whiten your teeth quickly for an upcoming reunion or family gathering, a professional cleaning done in-office is your best method. What about over-the-counter whitening? While not as effective as professional whitening, over-the-counter whitening strips from your local grocery store are perfectly safe as long as you follow the directions. That said, there are many “whitening solutions” available online that are not safe. Some online remedies, like brushing with charcoal, can severely damage your teeth while others can threaten your health. When looking to whiten your teeth, make your safety a priority and look for professional help. Ready to make a great first impression? With in-office whitening, you come in for your appointment, and our team will whiten your teeth. Depending on how stained your teeth are, you could see drastic improvement after just one session.

branches. Paint the leaves you found to spruce up your trees or use them as decorations on their own. You can also use them for leaf printing or leaf pressing. Fun Finger Food When you’ve got multiple friends and family members coming over and you need snacks, edible decorations are the way to go. You can get a little creative and make elaborate treats, or you can opt for delicious and easy- to-make finger foods with your kids. A good starting treat for your family is a batch of pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats. Add orange food coloring to the mix and get your kids to shape the treats like pumpkins before using a few pretzel sticks to make sturdy stems. Thanksgiving Crafts Thanksgiving is only a month away, and your possibilities for holiday-themed crafts are endless with just a few supplies like paper, scissors, markers, and string. You can make turkey placemats, tissue paper trees, pumpkin garlands, paper pumpkins, or leaf mobiles to hang from the ceiling. Compile a list of ideas and have your kids pick out which craft they want to do first, then get to work together to create as many decorations as you want to display for Turkey Day. With these engaging craft ideas, the whole family will be eager to make their own decorations and show them off for months to come!
