WHY SCHOLL CARES Because Our Community and Our Kids Are Worth It

As a business leader, you need your community. It’s comprised of the people who rally behind you when you need them most. They support your dreams, and your investment within the community goes a long way in securing the futures of those around you and, in return, your future. And these days, we’re lucky. A community can be anyone from anywhere. Thanks to technology, we’re no longer bound by geographical lines. At Scholl & Company, our community is our client family, but it’s also so much more than that. Our community also includes the central California region. It was here that we found some of the first members of this large network of business professionals we now call a family, and it’s here that our team members raise families of their own. Last month, Jaclyn Aiello highlighted our annual philanthropic program, Scholl Cares, which is how we choose to give back to the community that continually supports us. As you read this cover letter, we’re in the heat of Scholl Cares, wrapping presents, preparing for COVID-19-safe events, and determining where our efforts would be best served across our region.

Jaclyn introduced you to our work with Pueblo del Mar, a recovery community of families impacted by addiction. Many of their residents are children, and like most children, Christmas is a very big deal for them. Yet, their family’s efforts to get back on their feet may prevent them from having the magical Christmas every kid deserves. As such, we have created a Giving Tree for the children in this community. We hang nametags on a large Christmas tree in our lobby, and each one contains a wish list for a child in the community. Our team and clients purchase gifts from the children’s wish lists, and we deliver these wrapped gifts for Christmas. We also fill the group’s food pantry during this time because everyone deserves a warm meal, especially during the holidays. This season, we won’t be able to rely on local high schoolers looking for volunteer hours to help us wrap presents for the children, so we have been busy wrapping hundreds of gifts on our own! COVID-19 has also changed the way we do our annual Christmas celebration with La Casa, the adult day center. We’ve adapted to a drive-by holiday celebration, all with the hopes of spreading cheer without spreading germs to our vulnerable populations. We’ve also partnered with our central California iHeartRadio stations to do work within their communities, expanding our reach during a time when contact is difficult. Even with all this effort, we are by no means perfect. Our commitment to our community doesn’t always go as planned, but that doesn’t mean our impact isn’t felt. This year’s pandemic

likely means we’ll do less than we have been able

to do in the past, yet I believe it's our obligation as a business to give back to the community that gives so much to us. Personally, I get a lot from giving back to others. I have a soft spot in my heart for kids, so that accounts for a major portion of the work we do. In fact, Scholl Cares has been part of the culture here at Scholl & Company for so long because it includes causes I’m passionate about, and my team shares that passion. I’ve often found the same to be true for clients who incorporate charitable giving into their financial plans. The ones who succeed find the groups they are most passionate about. As we wrap up an unprecedented holiday season, I want to encourage you to look at the ways you can make a lasting impression on your community. What are you passionate about? Schools? The arts? Agriculture? Emergency services? Find what invigorates you, and you’ll get more joy out of giving back than receiving. Even better, you help improve your community. Wishing you and yours a very safe and happy holiday season!

BUSINESS IS GREAT ANDWE'RE LOOKING FOR MORE. We hope that you will keep us in mind if the opportunity arises to refer family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors. Thank you for your continued support.
