David Holt Mayor, City of Oklahoma City

COMMITTED TO DIGITAL EQUITY IN OKLAHOMA CITY

Mayor David Holt became Oklahoma City’s 36th mayor in 2018. He was elected with 78.5 percent of the vote, the largest percentage achieved by a nonincumbent since 1947. In 2022, he was reelected with more votes than any candidate for Mayor since 1959, and 40 percentage points ahead of the nearest candidate. Holt is the first Native American mayor of Oklahoma City, and at the time he took office, was the youngest mayor of Oklahoma City since 1923. Mayor Holt’s signature achievement has been the development and record-breaking passage of MAPS 4, an ambitious, nearly $1 billion package that will address 16 critical challenges and opportunities. Notably, Mayor Holt also led Oklahoma City through the unprecedented challenges of 2020 and 2021, protecting the lives of our residents and maintaining a common purpose in potentially divisive times. Mayor Holt has also continued the optimistic, visionary approach of his predecessors, building upon the city’s tremendous economic success and progress.

Broadband access and connectivity fuels economic development and enhances educational, health and social outcomes.

As the leader of what is now America’s 20th-largest city, Mayor Holt keeps a high national profile. He serves at the highest level of leadership in the United States Conference of Mayors and on the board of the National League of Cities. Mayor Holt was born and raised in Oklahoma City. The son of a teacher and a social worker, Mayor Holt has had family living in Oklahoma City for the better part of a century. He graduated from Putnam City Public Schools as a National Merit Scholar before receiving his B.A. from George Washington University and his law degree from Oklahoma City University. Mayor Holt is a licensed attorney and works for a family-owned investment company. He and his wife Rachel, executive director of the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs, have two children, George and Margaret. The Holts are members of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church. Mayor Holt is also a member of the Osage Nation. Mayor Holt’s “One OKC” message reflects his belief that Oklahoma City can continue to thrive only if we set aside the things that divide us and find common purpose.
