Artist Statement

We continue to find ourselves in situations that can upset the natural balance of our lives. Cloaked in our own anxieties, shrouded in self-doubt, we veil reality and complicate and confuse everything to the point of inflicting an uneasy existence upon ourselves. Words like ‘mayhem’ and ‘madness’ are readily used to describe events which would, in past times, never warrant such misuse of language. The darkness of living provides us with endless thought. Consideration applies to everything and mistakes can be costly casting a dark shadow over those and that which we hold dear. We see darkness too readily, where light ought to remain our foremost focus, for where there is light there is hope. All too often, in our despair, we only glimpse that light through

the eyes of others. While some may embrace a situation others may react badly towards it. What appeals to one, upsets another. An emotion response, a gut reaction, or even an instinct with one-world appeal is nothing short of invention or fantasy. We must steel ourselves, both as individuals and as a wider community, to pursue a greater level of understanding through a less cluttered and less uncertain future, giving ourselves the best chance possible in the fight against our inner demons. But how to spread the word, revolutionise the zeitgeist and affect societal change…? That’s the mystery.
