About Us We’re Student Roost. An owner and operator of purpose-built student accommodation across the UK.

We’re not quite the new kids on the block, having already created a portfolio of over 17,000 beds, in 48 buildings; but we’re at the very beginning of building our brand, our culture and our DNA. That makes it an exciting time to join us. Already, we’re made up of really good people and we’re a business who will endeavour, always, to do the right thing, in the right way – truly putting students’ experience, welfare and safety at the top of our agenda. We’ve all heard ‘if you build it…they will come’; we believe if you build it right, they will stay: that goes for both our customers and our people. We want to be a stable, welcoming and safe backdrop for our customer’s entire time at University, giving them one less thing to worry about. As a business built largely on acquisition, we have an array of properties and people, whilst many of our teams didn’t choose to come and work here, they do choose whether or not to stay and we’re confident we’re building a business that attracts talent from a variety of sectors and backgrounds, further diversifying the team in place. In little more than 12 months, we’ve built a complete HQ team, armed with little more than a Job Description and we think that’s testament to the experience candidates received when meeting with our team; a team of passionate, talented, like-minded individuals, who embrace the culture we’re seeking to build. Whether our properties were acquired from others or developed by ourselves, we’re excited about the positive changes we can bring to both the physical aspects of the property and the experience within it for our residents. We have, and continue to, invest in exciting, capital programmes, driving value for our residents, the people who work there and our investors. We look to our residents and property Team Members to help us better our understanding of the use of space; recognising those closest to the customer often know best. We’re starting to build out our Learning & Development framework too, so whilst the rewards should be there for everyone today, the real riches are in the long-term careers we can eventually offer. Job Description

OVERVIEW: We are Student Roost, a UK based purpose-built student accommodation provider, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Brookfield Strategic Real Estate Partners. Since the business was established in 2013, we have amassed a portfolio of over 17,000 operational beds, and have a significant development pipeline of 4,000 beds with ambition for continued growth. This role is a key hire for our in-house Development function, which forms an integral part of our business as we continue to grow. Further to this, we’re in the early stages of building our brand Student Roost, our culture and our DNA, making it an exciting time to join us. The team is already made up of really good people and we’re a business who will endeavour always to do the right thing, in the right way – truly putting students’ experience, welfare and safety at the top of our agenda. A member of the Development Team and reporting to the Head of Development, the Development Manager will, with the support of the Head of Development, take responsibility for managing projects through detailed design, procurement and delivery. The Development Manager will also work alongside the Head of Development in progressing newly acquired sites from feasibility through the detailed design process, maximising efficiency of new projects, and successfully achieving full planning permission.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: CORE PURPOSE Manage projects through detailed design, procurement and delivery on time and on budget to the standards and quality which represent the Student Roost brand and core values. Assist in realising the full potential of land acquisitions by taking initial concepts through to viable detailed designs which maximises viability, profit and operational efficiencies, creating planning approved schemes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage consultant teams to navigate projects through detailed design and procurement, ensuring they meet approved budgets and mitigate risk to the business • Take ownership of projects through the delivery phase to ensure buildings are delivered to a high quality and in line with Student Roost’s brand standards • Lead projects and project teams through the construction phase to ensure delivery on time and on budget • Work collaboratively with other areas of the business through the development process to ensure buildings fully meet the needs of the business • Implement Student Roost’s mobilisation process to ensure the completion, handover and occupation of buildings is fully managed and coordinated • Assist the Head of Development in developing and refining development standards, processes and procedures, documents and systems • Work alongside the Head of Development to progress sites from feasibility, through the planning process to grant of consent • Support the Real Estate team in its key functions, including technical due diligence on site acquisitions and development deals

PERSON SPECIFICATION WHAT YOU’VE DONE BEFORE • Proven experience in a Development Manager / Project Manager role on substantial student, residential or mixed-use schemes • Track record in manging multiple projects through detailed design, procurement and delivery • Knowledge of regional purpose-built student accommodation sector, competitors and the market expectations for new build schemes • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of budget and programme monitoring and reporting • Worked in a fast-growth environment.
