• Over two thirds of the winners of British Designer of the Year are UAL alumni. UAL alumni have taken home the award for the past three years running (2015 – 2017). • 14% (20) of the Current Royal Designers for Industry are UAL alumni. • Over half of the fashion designers that showed at London Fashion Week 2018 are UAL alumni. • Other alumni have gone on to take home some of the industry’s most prestigious art and design awards including BP Portrait Award, Jerwood Prize, Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize, Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design, Minerva Medal, BAFTAs, Golden Globes and Oscars.

Accommodation Services

UAL Accommodation Services is a vibrant multidisciplinary and diverse team, priding ourselves on innovation, high standards, customer focus and student experience. We currently accommodate over 3,200 students in 12 halls of residence located throughout London on fixed term tenancies. The department is comprised of Central Accommodation, Residential Operations, Communications and Marketing, Finance, a Social Programme and a Commercial Summer Business.

We’re really excited to welcome Archwood House to our halls’ portfolio in September 2022. Built exclusively for UAL students, the building is a new development, with modern features and furnishings throughout. It is located in Camberwell, which is an ideal location for students studying at Camberwell College of Arts, and London College of Communication. It is also a short bus ride or cycle into the centre of London.

and departures, etc. • Manage the finance operations in the halls including but not limited to the uploading of charges onto Kinetics, involvement in the debt process or in debt analysis, delivering debt letters, serving or witnessing the service of Notices, placing orders, processing invoices & record keeping. • Lead, manage and develop a small team of staff consisting of Administrators, Receptionists and Housekeeping Assistants, ensuring the highest level of service is delivered to residents, visitors, colleagues, key stakeholders and contractors at halls. • Organise regular minuted team meetings and 1-1’s to provide updates to team members and to discuss duties, tasks, roles and responsibilities also to obtain updates on progress and to manage outstanding items to closure, developing action plans and or escalating as appropriate. • Work closely with the Maintenance Manager, Senior Resident Assistants and Resident Assistants to resolve all maintenance issues reported via the student portal or the system in operation within advertised time frames, ensuring delays are effectively communicated to residents in a timely manner. • Undertake recruitment in the field, managing induction probation and training of new staff, setting targets, managing performance and conducting annual appraisals as required. • Meet with the Residential Operations Manager on a regular basis to provide updates on current relevant pastoral care, welfare, financial, building, or other landlord and tenant management issues pertaining to the head lease with a focus on the needs and demands of internal and external stakeholders, their expectations and agreed service levels. • Organise and ensure the completion of day-to-day housekeeping arrangements for the buildings and external areas, ensuring Health and Safety regulations are complied with, conducting regular quality inspections and monitoring cleaning standards within the hall of residence and grounds. • Report any known Health and Safety concerns and/or statutory non-compliance issues to the Contracts and Compliance Manager, the Maintenance Manager, the Health and Safety Advisor, the Residential Operations Managers and members of the SMT as appropriate. • In conjunction with the Maintenance Manager, the Contracts and Compliance Manager, the Residential Operations Manager, and the Landlords Managing Agent (where applicable), plan and programme all redecoration, asset replacement and cyclical works that may be required under the lease ensuring minimum disruption to residents. • Deputise for the Maintenance Manager in the supervision of contractors on-site to ensure that the residence(s) are well maintained and necessary building repairs are affected as soon as is practicable and within agreed service levels. • Deputise for the Maintenance Manager to ensure that service delivery of in-house and contracted services is compliant with health and safety legislation and other relevant statutory obligations or regulations including the assessment of risk. Inspect, interrogate, develop, manage or monitor systems to certify that all testing, fault reporting, inspections and actions are undertaken and recorded in a timely and accurate manner, tracking and escalating faults where appropriate to the resolution of the issue. • Deputise for the Maintenance Manager to ensure the provision of a safe and secure environment for hall users by managing local security systems, processes, procedures and people, including the security guards, access control, the effective operation of surveillance and alarm systems, acting on or escalating failures as appropriate and with others put in place plans of action to mitigate and reduce the chances of reoccurrence. • Ensure the Residential Operations Manager and the Senior Management Team are immediately

It is Europe’s largest provider of education in art, design, fashion, communication and the performing arts which brings together over 19,000 students from over 100 different countries, including 2,250 further education students, 14,000 undergraduates and 2,700 postgraduate and research students. Accommodation Services currently accommodates over 3200 students in 12 Halls of Residence located throughout London on fixed term tenancies. What is the purpose of the role: The post holder will have overall responsibility for the safe and effective management of any designated UAL Facilities Managed Halls of Residence, leading on areas of continuous improvement, helping to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and pastoral care to residents. You will lead a small team managing all matters relating to student welfare, conduct, discipline and finances whilst ensuring a safe and supportive environment for students, guests, contractors and colleagues working closely with the Maintenance Manager to resolve maintenance issues in a timely manner. The role holder will be expected to work flexibly between the core hours of 08:00 – 20:00, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend working as required, and travel to other Halls of Residence across London to provide cover from time-to-time. Duties and Responsibilities • Be a point of contact for all residents and visitors, both in person, by telephone or email. Communicate and correspond effectively through various media (such as email, phone, in person etc) and respond to all queries and provide assistance to deliver services in line with customer expectations.
