3 CAMPING ACTIVITIES FOR YOUR KIDS

Almost every day, we have our phones, computers, and TVs that keep us entertained. With all of these devices, it can be difficult to keep kids occupied without the use of technology. Camping is a classic childhood activity that will have your kids off of their phones so they can enjoy everything Mother Nature has to offer. This is also an activity that can bring your family close together and create memories to last a lifetime. I understand that finding activities while camping can be challenging, but there are tons of fun and simple things you can do with your kids while in the great outdoors. Here are a few of my favorites. Go on a nature walk. The campsite you’re going to probably has several trails that you and your family can check out. It’s a surreal experience walking around in nature and seeing animals and plants in their natural habitat. If you want to make things more interesting, you can create a scavenger hunt. Write down a list of things you could find or see on the trail and ask your kids to see if they can spot any of the items. This will keep them entertained, and they may find a souvenir they can bring home. Create ‘nature soup.’ This activity is for little kids who like to get their hands dirty. Bring a 5-gallon bucket with you on your trip so your kids can create nature recipes. Although these recipes are not edible, they will have your children searching around the campsite for their ingredients. Here are two of my favorite “nature soup” recipes: • Pine Cone Soup: First, fill your bucket with water and add three spoonfuls of dirt. Next, find five pine cones, two rocks, and one handful of grass to finish off your soup. • Flower Bisque: Add three spoonfuls of dirt into your bucket and mix in three leaves, four rocks, and seven flowers. Finish off with some water, and begin creating your bisque. Make nature arts and crafts. Your children can create their own rock friends by coloring on rocks they find around the campgrounds. You can also bring googly eyes and pipe cleaners so your kids can add eyes, legs,

and feet. They can also create campsite signs with crayons and colored pencils. With these signs, they can put a rock, leaf, or pine cone underneath the paper and color on it to get the texture of the item they are drawing over. Go tubing in a river. If you have older children, they will love this activity. It’s like a lazy river you would see at water parks, but you’re surrounded by nature. Some campsites may provide this activity, but if not, you can purchase a tube and float around in the lake or river. If you have younger children who want to go tubing, make sure they are under your supervision while they are in the water. You can get tubes that have two-person seating, and you can tag along with them during their ride. Camping is a great summer activity to spend quality time with your family without having to worry about phones. My friends have told me about their childhood camping trips, and they speak of those memories fondly. So before the camping season ends, try and take your family on a trip they will never forget.

3 Motion Pictures Inspired by Books Time to Be a Movie Critic!

‘Looking for Alaska’ John Green has captured the hearts of millions of readers across the world, and now there is a movie inspired by his first novel, “Looking for Alaska.” This coming-of-age story follows a teenage boy as he searches for the meaning of life. Then, a sudden tragedy strikes, and the boy and his

We’ve all heard the saying, “The book is way better than the movie or TV show.” Movies and TV shows provide you with a great visual representation of the characters and storyline. The films are equally as good as their respective books in their own right. Here are a few films inspired by books that you should check out. ‘The Shining’ 3-Part Miniseries This is one of Stephen King’s most famous novels. There is even a much-acclaimed 1980 movie based on the book. But did you know that Stephen King directed and produced his own miniseries? The three one-hour episodes follow the book precisely and provide more information on the characters. Spoiler alert: There are no twins or garden maze in this series, but there are moving topiary hedges! ‘The Ultimate Evil: The Search for the Sons of Sam’ There are a lot of conspiracy theories about the Son of Sam and his crimes. Some have argued that David Berkowitz didn’t commit these crimes alone — and they have evidence to prove it. Follow along with journalist Maury Terry as he makes his way down the rabbit holes of this case. There is more to this crime than what appeared in the media, such as cult practices and ties to other cases like Charles Manson and his family.

friends must come to terms with the event. The movie shows the emotion, grief, and love the boy deals with on his journey. Pull out your tissues for this film; it’s sure to be a tear-jerker. You don’t need to read the books first in order to watch the TV show or movie — these films can stand on their own. These are only a few of the many movies and TV shows that are based on bestselling books. Now it’s time for you to be the judge and determine if the books are, in fact, better than their films.

HOW TO MAKE OVER YOUR TEETH’S NATURAL COLOR A Little White Lie

White teeth are a classic symbol of beauty, but as we go through life, our teeth are prone to becoming duller and yellower. It can reduce self-confidence and even make some people reluctant to smile. Luckily, you don’t have to live with tooth discoloration, and reversing the hands of time is easier than you think. Tooth discoloration is an effect of the many things we consume daily. Smoking and drinking coffee, tea, and red wine are the most prone to causing yellow stains on our teeth, but a surprising number of other foods also do their part. Any dark-colored foods — from chocolate to spaghetti sauce — have the potential to discolor our teeth. But celebrities aren’t denying themselves these indulgences — they’re receiving professional teeth whitening services. Teeth whitening requires peroxide, which separates the stains from your enamel and leaves behind whiter teeth. But to ensure consumer safety, retail teeth whitening kits limit the amount of peroxide used. As a result, an over- the-counter at-home kit won’t produce the impressive results you can achieve in a dentist’s office. Ustick Dental uses Guided Light Optics (GLO) technology to provide the smile of your dreams. GLO applies heat acceleration to the peroxide whitening gel, which speeds up the process. Best of all, it does so without the sensitivity many people associate with teeth

whitening. The one-time treatment will also take barely any time out of your day — it lasts only 30 minutes.

If you’re more comfortable with at-home treatments, our office also offers take-home GLO teeth whitening kits. Patients receive a warming mouthpiece with whitening gel and instructions. Over five days, the treatment has been proven to whiten teeth by five shades. At-home applications should be completed three times per day for eight minutes, with each treatment lasting five days total. If the color of your teeth makes you grimace, find out what one of our whitening treatments can do for you. Call us at (208) 375-8720 to receive your free consultation and learn more about what we have to offer.
