How the Program Works
WE Villages is an adaptive international development model built on two decades of working with communities and experts to end poverty. It works. It’s proven. And it’s sustainable. Poverty isn’t the result of one single cause. Therefore, our model is neither a single solution nor a handout. Instead, it’s based on five Pillars of Impact: Education, Water, Health, Food and Opportunity. Each is connected to the other and work in tandem to transform communities. In WE Villages communities, local staff partner with rural villages and regional governments to support, teach and empower people to lift themselves out of poverty through these pillars. Our definition of success: impact that lasts for generations. Through the Health Pillar of Impact, we deliver affordable, accessible and effective health care. WE Villages has made significant strides in addressing the lack of health care services in Kenya through the construction of Baraka Hospital and Kishon Health Center. These two health facilities offer preventive and curative health care, transforming health care accessibility for our partner communities with effective, high-quality services. About WE Heal
WE Heal transforms lives in Kenya by bringing specialized care to the communities where it’s needed most.
Using a coalition-based partnership model, sponsors of all sizes are given the opportunity to support WE Heal through financial backing, i n-kind donations of medical supplies and through the provision of the services of qualified medical professionals.
This program is built on a model that is both sustainable and scalable helping to ensure its long-term efficacy.

Program Objectives
In recent years, the government of Kenya has worked to gradually improve the overall health of its people and the conditions of daily life. However, for many regions, the provision of health services remains a specific challenge. WE Charity operates in rural Kenya, where 80 percent of the Kenyan population resides and where access to health services is severely limited. In fact, there are only 20 physicians for every 10,000 people in Kenya. Through WE Heal medical trips, we’re helping improve access to vital health care services in rural communities, as well as facilitating incredible development and learning opportunities for health teams on the ground. MONETARY DONATIONS Fund travel for physicians on WE Heal trips and support existing WE Villages health care initiatives and facilities in Kenya. In addition to travel, funding will also be used to support the program’s needs for additional medical staff as well as capacity building and continuing education for local medical professionals. IN-KIND DONATIONS Provide supplies, equipment and pharmaceuticals to support physicians in providing health care services. Examples of current needs include: Neonatal and surgical equipment, CT and MRI scanners, various medical supplies and access to a variety of pharmaceuticals. DONATIONS OF TIME Send teams of physicians to take part in WE Heal medical trips where they will help screen, diagnose and treat local community members as well support capacity building and continuing education for local medical professionals Three Opportunities to Contribute

Global medical program
BARAKA HOSPITAL Owned and operated by WE Charity, Baraka serves approximately 50,000 immediate community members and provides critically important outpatient services to the most vulnerable segments of the Kenyan population. Baraka’s facilities and capabilities include a maternity wing, surgical facility, X-ray unit/imaging department, cancer screening, eye clinic, cataract surgical wing and dental clinic. How the Medical Trips Program Works Medical practitioner volunteers will work alongside our skilled Kenyan team, share treatment methods, diagnose illnesses and medical challenges. The trip itinerary includes the opportunity to connect with local community members to better understand the sources of their medical conditions as well as meeting with students at WE College, WE Charity’s local postsecondary institution. TRAVEL EXPERIENCE IN COUNTRY Participants are based at Bogani Cottages and Tented Camp, ME to WE’s property in the Maasai Mara. The itinerary also includes opportunities to connect with local families and be immersed in local culture and traditions, from training with a Maasai warrior to getting to know learners at WE College, WE Charity’s postsecondary institution.
Primary services offered at Baraka Hospital include: • Acute and inpatient care

These important trips are instrumental, not only from a capacity-building perspective, but also for creating unique training opportunities for our in-country staff and visiting providers, engaging unique expertise and providing world- class health care that would otherwise not be available.
