Praise for My Dad This Father’s Day
It’s often said that a father is a son’s first hero, and in the case of my dad and me, this couldn’t be truer. The relationship between a father and a son is like no other; when you’re young, you look up to your dad as the greatest example of who you want to be when you grow up. Fathers teach us right from wrong, how to respect others and act with kindness, how to carry ourselves with confidence, and how to be resilient. They’re always around to give expert advice, play catch in the backyard, or watch the next big game with you. From our fathers, we have so much to learn.
about all of it and shared all of his knowledge with me. Back then, the internet wasn’t available. He couldn’t just look up a video on how to fix or repair something or text a friend for advice. All that he knew was either passed down from his elders or just something he figured out. He was extremely logical, and it was truly inspiring.
My dad’s philosophy was to work hard to have a good life, and his passion and work ethic is what inspired me to open and run my own business. From him, I learned the values of hard work and dedication, and through his hard work and success, I found that perseverance
Saying that my dad was a hard worker is an understatement. When I was growing up, my dad worked full time as a pressman, working with big printing machines, and when he wasn’t there, he was either working on the tobacco farm or

helping my uncle out in his auto repair shop on nights and weekends. For my father, the days and nights were long, yet he still always found time for his family. Once he retired, because he isn’t one to sit still, he worked as a store greeter at Walmart and still stayed active by cutting the grass and maintaining the property. My dad, my role model, quite literally taught me how to do everything. Whether it was farming, caring for animals, harvesting crops, gardening, hunting, fishing, doing household repairs, or working on cars, my dad knew a lot
goes a long way. Sure, there will be ups and downs, but having seen my dad power through anything that came his way, I was sure that I could do it too — and I did. I look back now at the life I had growing up and the life of my father and it was an awesome way of life. To all of the fathers out there, I wish you a very happy Father’s Day! Enjoy your day because you deserve it!

3 Easy Cooking Hacks for Better Nutrition Making a meal plan is a pain, but you still want to get all your necessary vitamins, minerals, and protein through everyday foods. Even if you’re not a cooking expert, you can employ a few very simple cooking hacks in the dishes you commonly prepare! You’ll be surprised how these little boosts can reap big, nutritious rewards. NO. 1: ADD QUINOA TO RECIPES. Want to add extra texture or color to your steamed white or brown rice? Mix it up with 1 cup of quinoa (any color) and another 2 cups of water or broth. Or, simply throw quinoa into any grain-friendly soup you’re preparing, like a simple chicken
Keep Them Topped O At one point or another in our lives, either our dad, grandfather,
ENGINE OIL Your vehicle’s engine oil keeps all parts of your engine lubricated and moving together, so driving with low engine oil levels can significantly damage your engine and other supporting components. An oil change is necessary every 3,000 miles (5,000 for vehicles that run on synthetic oil) to keep your car running smoothly.
friend, mechanic, or trusted professional has advised us to check our vehicle fluids regularly. And they’re spot on! Not checking your fluids can result in poor gas mileage and other complications extending to the rest of the vehicle. You should be checking six different fluids regularly to increase the longevity of your vehicle. Let’s take a closer look. BRAKE FLUID As the brake pads on your car wear out, so does the brake fluid, which is an important mechanism in safe braking. Low brake fluid typically means that air will fill up gaps in the brake line and may cause the braking to feel spongy.
TRANSMISSION FLUID The transmission is a very
important part of your vehicle, and low transmission fluid can make shifting gears difficult and cause surges. POWER STEERING FLUID Similar to the way that brake fluid works, if your power steering fluid gets too low, air will accumulate within the steering mechanism
soup! Quinoa is rich in antioxidants and filled with fiber to lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels, reducing your risk of diabetes and heart disease.
NO. 2: REPLACE CREAM WITH ALMOND, WALNUT, OR OAT MILK. Cream is a popular mainstay in any American kitchen, but it doesn’t have to be dairy cream. Plant-based milk and creamer (such

as almond, walnut, or oat milk) are often extra rich in vitamins and minerals and low in fat. They contain no cholesterol and are easy on your digestive system. Because they all have slightly different flavor profiles, you can pick your favorite! Walnut milk works surprisingly well in a creamy pasta sauce. NO. 3: ADD FROZEN SPINACH TO ALMOST ANYTHING. Fresh spinach quickly loses its folate, powerful vitamins, and nutritional benefits over time, but spinach, frozen at its peak freshness, saves the day. That’s why frozen spinach is actually more nutritious than most fresh spinach at the supermarket! Whether it’s for pasta, pizza, scrambled eggs, cheese dip, a smoothie, or curry, frozen spinach is more versatile than you might think. Plus, studies show spinach may have amino acids that help reduce stress and depression! (BONUS) NO. 4: ADD CHIA SEEDS TO COLD DRINKS, YOGURT, BAKED DESSERTS, AND MORE! It’s easy to feel guilty for indulging your cravings for sweet tea, pudding, cookies, and cake. But if you add chia seeds, you might feel a little better about it! These small seeds are densely packed with antioxidants, minerals, fiber, and omega-3 fatty acids, all of which may promote heart health, support strong bones, and improve blood sugar management.

The History and Importance of Stop Signs
Off THE IMPORTANCE OF CHECKING YOUR VEHICLE’S FLUID LEVELS
and make it difficult for the vehicle to properly steer. As the fluid gets too low, you may hear strange sounds or experience a hard-to-turn wheel when steering the vehicle. COOLANT Keeping your coolant levels topped off is
We all know what a stop sign means, but have you ever wondered why it looks the way it does?
essential to ensure that your car is able to cool off properly. Coolant also helps keep deposits from forming, prevents any corrosion from taking place, and reduces any foaming. WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID A clear windshield is key to driving safely. If you can’t see well, you can’t properly navigate the road, especially during inclement weather. If you’re spraying your windshield frequently, you may need to replace the fluid more often, so make it a habit to periodically check on the fluid levels whenever you pull over to fill up on gas. Regular attention to these six fluids is a small investment in time that can save you from more expensive maintenance and repair issues in the future.
Color and Shape According to the Manual of Stop Signs, the very first stop signs were installed in the state of Michigan in 1915. The first stop signs used
a variety of colors and shapes until the late 1920s, when the color was standardized to yellow to
maximize day and night visibility. Since this preceded the invention of glass- bead retro-reflectorization for sign faces, a red sign would have looked very dark at night. Yellow was deemed the most visible. By 1954, sign makers had adopted the use of a durable, fade-resistant red coating. At this point the
background color of the STOP sign was changed to the red color we see today. This change from yellow to red served to distinguish the regulatory STOP sign from other

yellow warning signs. It also made the sign color consistent with that of red traffic signal indications, which had already been using red for decades to signal “STOP.” During this time, the shape also evolved from early variations into the familiar octagon shape we see today. This shape is immediately recognizable from both the back side and in the dark. STOP means STOP! Stop signs are an effective roadway tool to help ensure that drivers are obeying the rules of the road and keeping themselves and others safe. Stop signs help to keep speeding under control, reduce the amount of traffic accidents, and reduce any driver delay while navigating traffic. At intersections, stop signs assign the right of way to drivers and keep traffic flowing consistently. When you pull up to a stop sign, bring your vehicle to a full and complete stop at the designated stop line. If you are at a four-way stop intersection, drivers should yield the right of way to the first vehicle to reach the stopping area. If two vehicles reach the stop signs at the same time, the driver on the left is expected to yield to the driver on the right. By recognizing and obeying stop sign rules, you are keeping both yourself and others safe on the road. Fully stopping at stop signs and looking all ways may help avoid accidents or even save your life. 3
