Headquarters Move

The RAD is moving from its current freehold premises at 36 Battersea Square.These premises include dance studios, office space, a shop, and a library and archive. The move is being undertaken because the RAD has outgrown its current space, whilst the facilities have become increasingly unfit for purpose, and redevelopment is uneconomic. A deal has been struck with Avanton, a developer, to sell the current premises and move to new purpose built headquarters just under a mile away at York Road. Avanton is redeveloping the site of an old Homebase into apartment blocks for general sale, and the RAD will occupy the ground floor and part of the first floor of this new development. The new premises will comprise all of the facilities in the current building, but with the addition of café spaces and a performance space. It will also be around fifty percent larger than the current headquarters, at c55,000 square feet. As part of the agreement with Avanton, they will be responsible for completing the core fitout of the premises to an agreed specification, with RAD responsible for ‘loose’ fixtures and fittings such as desks.

Current estimates are that the building and fitout will be complete for occupation in the last quarter of 2020.

Main Purpose of job:

Responsible for managing all aspects of planning and execution of the move to new headquarters. Director of Finance and Operations Fixed term contract for 2 years from start date

Key responsibilities: • To establish robust project coordination / management procedures and processes within the overall project to ensure that all individual aspects are planned, co-ordinated and monitored appropriately. • To work with other departments, particularly IT, Facilities and HR, to plan and co-ordinate the move. • To manage the flow of information about the project in order to enable timely and well- informed decision-making by the Steering Group, HQ Committee and Board of Trustees. • To be responsible for providing regular progress reports to the relevant internal and external stakeholders, including the Steering Group, HQ Committee and funders. • To be the first point of contact for external consultants such as the capital works Project Managers (Cragg Management) and Architects (T-Sa). • To manage the project budget under delegated authority as agreed by the Board of Trustees. • To ensure that appropriate change management procedures are in place to identify, record and obtain approval for essential changes to the approved purposes should these be necessary. • To ensure appropriate Risk Management procedures are in place and operated, including

risk ownership and mitigation strategies. • To be responsible for and to ensure funding claims are submitted in a timely manner and cash flow is properly managed. • To review, implement and monitor the Business Plan as relating to the project. • To provide any necessary information or assistance to the Capital Campaign, donor briefings etc. • To lead any competitive procurement processes which may be required, including overseeing tender documentation, tender evaluation, appointment and implementation for contracts that will be awarded directly by RAD. • To manage the move from Battersea Square toYork Road. • Additional tasks as required.

About You

Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate activities. Preparation of presentation materials. Excellent IT and Microsoft Office skills. Ability to handle and prioritise a diverse workload without supervision. Ability to meet deadlines and work proactively. GCSE level education including English and Maths.

Education and Training Attained skills and abilities

Degree level education (or equivalent). Project management qualification.

This is a full time role, Monday to Friday.We offer a 34.5 hour week. We offer a Flexible working scheme With the consent of their line manager, employees may start work at any time between 08.00 – 10.00 (Monday – Friday) and finish any time between 16.00 – 18.00 (Monday – Thursday) and 16.00 – 17.30 (Friday).
