How Has Podcasting Impacted Your Workplace? Rise25 Uses Podcasts to Have Some Fun
What adjectives come to mind when you think about the workday? Challenging, fulfilling, busy, exciting? What about fun?
While having fun at work may not be the first thing that you think of when looking forward to the workweek, it should still be an important part of your workplace! According to a 2020 study by Bonusly, 90% of highly engaged employees say they work on a fun team while only 37% of highly disengaged employees say the same thing. We enjoy joking around at work, but at Rise25, another one of our core values is to always be learning. With the wide range of clients we serve, our team tends to learn a lot by working on their podcasts. However, we’re always looking for more ways to continue learning through different, and fun, avenues — and all it took to find the answer was to host the right podcast guest. Recently, we had an "Inspired Insider" interview with David Long, the founder and CEO of MyEmployees, about the importance of happiness for employees and the key factors that can elevate you and your team. When it came to bridging the gap between a company’s values and work culture, he began to list off various activities that teams can share and enjoy, such as starting a book club. The book club idea really stuck with us. We took the concept and ran with it, and it’s been a total hit for our team. We get to learn, share, and have fun while discussing some incredibly valuable concepts at the same time. Using your podcast to have fun can go beyond taking suggestions from your guests. If you’re looking for interviewees, don’t forget that members of your team have plenty of wisdom to offer, too. Not only is interviewing employees fun, but it’s also a useful approach to profiling their expertise and offering unique insights into your company and field.
Podcasting can also be a perfect way to pass on information and training material to your staff — even if you haven’t hired the person you need yet. We have a client who recently lost their go-to sales team member. He was very upset, acknowledging that it would take a lot of time to find a replacement. We suggested that this could be a good opportunity to create new content. Why not interview some experts in best practices for sales? This way, he could put new and improved sales processes in place before he found the right candidate. He took our advice, and now he has a library of resources for his future salespeople that include his own interviews with industry experts. It’s a helpful way of creating value for yourself, your staff, and even applicants. In podcasting, we’re always learning — and it’s a great feeling when we can leverage our new knowledge to benefit our clients and help our team have fun during the workday. What have you learned from your podcast that you’ve brought back to your team? We hear new stories all the time, and we’d love to hear your thoughts, too. Give us an email, call, or text!
