WE ARE ADDING OCCUPATIONAL AND SPEECH THERAPY SERVICES!

At Schlosser Therapy Services, we are happy to say that we have recently taken on both an occupational therapist and a speech therapist. Occupational and speech therapy are both very important services that can be added to a physical therapy treatment plan for thosewhoneed it. These services will be available at French Creek Valley Occupational and Speech Therapy, with the main office in Conneaut Lake, PA. However, our two practitioners will have the capability to see patients at all 4 of our locations - Conneaut Lake, Alden/ Meadville, Saegertown, and McKean. You may be wondering, “am I eligible for occupational therapy or speech therapy services?” The answer is – yes! Our occupational and speech therapy

services will be available for both adult and pediatric populations. At Schlosser Therapy Services, we are happy to treat whoever walks through our doors! For more information on our addition of occupational and speech therapy (and how it may benefit you!), don’t hesitate to contact us today. All about occupational therapy We are happy to introduce our newest occupational therapist, Hope. She recently earned her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy andwe are elated to have her on our team! But you may be wondering, “why occupational therapy?” Well, there are many reasons why someone may need OT services!

While it is a similar form of conservative treatment as physical therapy, occupational therapy (OT) focusesmore on rehabilitation and the “relearning” of daily activities. The purpose of occupational therapy is to make daily life easier through participating in treatments and exercises. Occupational therapy is a safe, effective, and non-invasive treatment option that is designed to relieve pain resulting from a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, workplace injuries, and more. Patients typically see an occupational therapist to regain function in their daily life, helpmanage chronic pain symptoms, and prevent future injury. Regular appointments with an occupational therapist are ideal for people of all ages! All about speech therapy We are also happy to introduce our newest speech therapist, Ashley. She is a state-licensed Speech Language Pathologist, who has been practicing for the past 4 years. We are so excited to have her, and we know she will be a strong asset to our team! But, again, - why speech therapy? Speech therapy is also an important service that we are eager to finally be able to offer our patients. Speech Language Pathologists such as Ashley are the only health care

professionals specifically educated and prepared to evaluate and treat children and adults with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing problems. They address decreases in swallowing, cognitive function, and communicative function after injuries or as a result of an underlying condition or issue. A speech language pathologist can help patients develop effective speaking and listening skills, improve loudness or quality of voice, preserve the pleasures associated with eating, or re-train cognitive skills, such as memory and word-finding. How can I get started? Do you think you or a loved one could benefit from our new occupational therapy or speech therapy services? If so, contact Schlosser Therapy Services today to set up a consultationwithHope or Ashley!

“All the personnel that I had contact with were all very caring and professional!” - A.C. “They are wonderful people.” - N.K. WHAT PATIENTS ARE SAYING!

Before you canunderstandwhy occupational therapy is so important, youmust first understand the differences between physical therapy and occupational therapy. Physical therapy (PT) refers to a variety of natural and conservative treatments aimed at relieving pain and promoting healing. Occupational therapy (OT), while it is a similar formof conservative treatment, focuses more on rehabilitation and the “relearning” of daily activities. The purpose of occupational therapy is tomake daily life easier through participating in treatments and exercises. At Schlosser Therapy Services, we are happy to say that we offer both physical therapy and occupational therapy treatments. For more information on how you may benefit from our PT and OT services, contact our office today. How successful is occupational therapy ? Occupational therapy is a safe, effective, and non-invasive treatment option that is designed to relieve pain resulting fromawide range of musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, workplace injuries, andmore. Patients typically see an occupational therapist to regain function in their daily life, helpmanage chronic pain symptoms, and prevent future injury. Regular appointments with an occupational therapist are ideal for people of all ages. Physical therapy treatments and occupational therapy treatments cover a wide range of conditions, and sometimes they even overlap. However, physical therapy is used to treat orthopedic, neurological, and autoimmune deficiencies, while occupational typically focuses solely around orthopedics. With occupational therapy, the main focuses are pain relief and improving daily struggles. Some common conditions we treat with OT include: THE IMPORTANCE OF OCCUP

Carpal tunnel syndrome Arthritis Burns Nerve injuries

Fractures Tendinitis Chronic conditions Stroke

The conservative care of occupational therapy is one of the most effective ways to treat pain and regain daily function. In fact, the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) says it best when describing the vast importance of occupational therapy: “Occupational therapy is the only profession that helps people across the lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). Occupational therapy practitioners enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, and prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability.”
