Setting Up Zoom for EXPLO EXPLO Online uses the Zoom platform to host live classes, guest speaker events, social gatherings, activities, and workshops. Your instructors and online hosts will provide specific Zoom guidelines for a given session, but all students should familiarize themselves with the following Zoom requirements and tips for EXPLO Online.
First Things First. Students should display only their first name and last initial when logging in to any EXPLO Online session. Please set this up prior to logging into your first session.
● To edit your Zoom name, login to your Zoom account online or via the app.
● Click on the Profile heading on the left sidebar.
● Click Edit in the top right corner.
● Make the necessary changes to the first and last name fields.
● Click Save Changes.
If a student is using an adult’s Zoom account to access EXPLO Online, please ensure the child’s first name and last initial are set up to be displayed.

Before entering your session, ensure your camera and microphone are working, and be aware of your background, surrounding/ambient noise, or other distractions. Your instructor or host may ask participants to mute for some segments of the event. Safety. EXPLO Online Zoom links are provided for use by enrolled students only. The following safety features are built into every session we host: ● Password-protected sessions and encrypted access links shared only with enrolled participants ● Waiting Rooms for all sessions allow Hosts to identify students before granting entry ● Chime upon entry to all sessions ● Students may only chat publicly with other students, but may chat privately with the Host of the event ● Zoom sessions will never be recorded in their entirety, though some projects may integrate recording of prepared student segments or performances.
If your teacher is ever disconnected from a Zoom session, hang tight - back-up is already on the way!
